I certainly give credit to the real life Walt. I can’t imagine being a child and tasked with the responsibility of staying with someone whose head injuries were that severe and try keeping them awake….and have to do it for several hours. We already know it was a life changing event for Hank Jr….I imagine it was also a life changing event for him. It’s a true miracle and blessing Hank Jr survived that day.
I have this movie in my collection. Great film. Really does a great job telling Hank's story and it is mostly accurate. They didn't try to make things up to sensationalize stuff. Just told his story basically. Richard Thomas was amazing in his role as Hank.
Seems like heard in an interview on CMT one time, where as he lying there between life and death, that he had a vision from his father, encouraging him to do his own music. Waylon Jennings would later visit Hank jr. and was told that Jr. had "talked to daddy."
One of my favorite places to hike. The Great Stone Door in Beersheba Springs TN. After this was filmed one of my buddies found one of the “movie” rocks and kept it as a souvenir. He took it to the South Cumberland Visitor Center and the Ranger there confirmed it was probably left over from when they filmed this scene. Tennessee did a pretty fair job of passing as Montana. When my buddy was packing it out every time they met other hikers they would start playing “catch” with this huge rock that was actually some kind of styrofoam painted to look like a real rock. People stared at them like they were out of their minds! lol
I vaguely remember seeing this movie - but I had no idea Christian Slater was in it playing the part of Walt (the boy). There was a couple of errors here. Hank Jr was sitting upright and bleeding to high heaven. The man made it to Hank first and wrapped Hank's head up as Walt made it down.
you can watch this entire movie on you tube. it is aprox. 96 minutes long. Stars Richard Thomas. Movie is called: The Hank Williams Jr. Story: Living Proof
Jessica Daniel it was snowing and he slipped and fell 600 to 700 feat down he never fell and hit his face then fell all the way down he slipped and fell all the way down
@@runnin_a_muck5207 Scooter!! I'm sure you know, I'm not doubting you!! You seem to know!! I was watching in an interview, Hank said he fell landed on his face and had reconstructive surgery!! Now I was wondering where he got that information?? Do you know??
@@mikehurley9690 I read somewhere too much of his old face was left behind on that mountain and by the time they got back to it the crows had eaten too much of it and so unfortunately they had to graft skin off his ass and rectum onto his new face to make his lips and nose...
Just came across this clip and had heard about this movie. Thought I might watch the movie but this clip saved me from wasting my time. From the interviews I have seen they were on a snow covered mountain hunting, not repelling down rock cliffs .Looks like they got this all wrong🥶🤮
yeah, I just watched a few vids of Hank telling the story himself, he said the snow under his feet shifted causing him to fall. Supposedly they were after Mtn Goats.
This is not even close to what happened. Hollywood spin. Hank Jr. stepped on a snowslide that subsided. This all happened on a snow covered mountain, not a pansy cliff like the movie portrays.
He has an upcoming tv show and various films including one with Lars von Trier as well as a ton of other projects. His IMDB or our site should have a list you might find interesting.
If Hank had stayed put after he lost his footing the first time they would have gotten him some help and he would have escaped with some cuts and bruises. Never should have tried to pull himself back up on his own. Big mistake.
@Chris Fontenot Oh my gosh, you people. Please tell me you didn’t just fall off the turnip truck. No one said Christian Slater was playing the role of Hank. Christian played the little boy.
@@LT1HILLINGHOE HWJR has said he fell 550 ft. Merle Kilgore called me as soon as he got the news. I absolutely lost it. Just a couple of weeks before HWJR, Merle , Nancy and I had just gone deep sea fishing a couple of weeks before his accident.(
