When I first started being a Patron to the project, it was to support you Leo... What you were doing out alone in the boatyard was so interesting and exciting to watch. Then, as you started to hire young shipwrights to help I felt so happy that my few dollars a month was contributing to them starting their careers and growing their skills. And now it brings me so much joy to know that those dollars are going to support all of these mature, talented, and dedicated career professionals. I just increased my Patreon tier a little, to help in a tiny way pay for Robert and everyone's work on the spars and all the other work going into this boat. As much as, Leo, you are doing a service as a Boatyard Manager and as a Video Producer/Editor... I think the service you are doing by taking folks contributions and distributing them out to your roster of local artisans is also a real gift to us as contributors. It really feels like the money is going somewhere important. Thank you for all of those things, and Merry Christmas to you, and don't forget to get some rest from time to time!

@@llagas6307 - In July 1967, QEII knighted Francis Chichester at Greenwich, using Francis Drake's sword for the ceremony. Leo & Ms. Tally haven't circled the globe, but I'd expect that when they return to England, they'll get a 'Mention in dispatches'.

Nice to see the Blue Sea Systems equipment in there. They make a great product & have great support from their head office which is not far away. I've tried other electrical suppliers but the quality & ease of servicing these panels are great. I also noticed that each breaker is tied to a separate terminal block so you don't have to undo the connection(s) at the breaker (a real PITA!). Really an amazing system with the tie-in to the electrical system(s) in the engine room. Many thousands of $$$ worth of equipment.

I don't know shit about a boat, never even been on one, but I watch this and another popular one. I've noticed here that there is a lot of modesty and lack of drama unlike the other boat. As a bonus, Leo's hair is an accurate gauge of wind speed/direction.

It was sad to see how poor shape Tally Ho was in the beginning way back when, basically a “total” in auto insurance parlance. But now we are seeing pieces of her coming back to life in the brightwork and trim, not forgetting her transom, too. Beautiful, to say the least. A tribute to her and the people who built and have sailed her. I have been following the Tally Ho Rebild from the beginning. (I didn't know what I was getting myself into!) I never miss an episode and find it all fascination. That said, at 74, I don't think I will ever follow anything like this again. It is once in a lifetime event for me! Beautiful work by each and every craftsman. That is what keeps me coming back for more. They never cease to amaze me. And, by the way, that ladder that Patrick built is very awesome.

@@jamesadams893 I think it should be done in 6 months,, maybe 4. Leo should be sailing back to England this summer. Maybe then, he will finally have a life. What has this taken 5 years? it appears that girl from back home went her way. But, how many will want to spend their life on the oceans of the world? It's a big ASK of a woman. His life on the water will be the next phase of his RU-vid channel, and with Starlink, we should see it all.

From the boatyard in Brookings , Ore to Port Townsend Washington what an epic story . With you walking thru and giving Us an update I swear I'm so happy for you Leo it almost brought a tear . The boat looks so good , every angle shows incredible attention to detail , The craftsmanship of the shipwrights makes me proud for some reason . I guess we're all part of the crew someway. As a woodworker I am and have been in awe of the crew you’ve been able to assemble that are without a doubt a level above the rest. I know other woodworkers watch these videos and are easily impressed with their talents. Truly inspiring and a lot further north of what I’ll ever achieve as a craftsman. No doubt this channel is the class of RU-vid. I can't imagine what this boat will be worth when finished since EVERYTHING is of the highest quality, but I expect it will be a large number. I'm happy to make my modest contribution and always thrilled to see the next episode. As an aside... I love seeing how Patrick has blossomed as a shipwright. My guess is that he will be part of the crew when Tally Ho leaves Port Townsend. No doubt this will be Leo's passion forever, but I sense it could be for Patrick as well. I can imagine the videos they'll create at sea to share with all of us. There is no reason this journey needs to come to an end for those of us who love Tally Ho. Thank you Leo.

Back in the day Lignum Vitae was used to line the shaft tunnel of large ships. It was used to make balls for lawn bowls too so if you can get some damaged old ones they can be recycled.

Also it was used as Bearings in the early steam engines. It was hard enough,and also self oiling

It's still used for Cutlass bearings around the prop shaft in a lot of navy vessels (inc submarines) as it is quieter than any other material. It's the best material for the job but very expensive.

I picked up a fiddle in an auction in Detroit many years ago. As a long time P-bass player, what could be so difficult, they both have four strings. Seriously, the fiddle needs to always be checked for pitch, in order to reinforce the muscle memory on the fretless neck. After some dedicated effort, you will make Wayward Jane proud!

Hi Leo. It's Christmas day here in Bridgetown Western Australia and it is forecast to get to 38 degrees C here today. I've been following the Tally Ho Project almost from the get go, and she is looking absolutely incredible, a credit to everyone who has worked on her. I got hooked on this project 10 minutes in. Leo is a real inspiration and proof that chasing your dream can achieve amazing results. His knowledge and craftsmanship as well as his dedication to keeping a very esoteric set of skills alive speaks highly of his character and his obvious love of all things related to boat-building and the nautical "arts"-
