I was genuinely hurt by this scene, I did this to my grandfather, and to this day I regret it, he passed away last year. Especially knowing that they’re dad is going to fight his doomsday. Fuck
Nah Clark has ditched Jon when he doesn't need to. Example: 2x13 left Jon on the barn to do chores whilst he flew with Jordan. Don't forget this was after Jon told him he feels like he has no future and nobody likes him Clark left him literally 2 seconds after to go after Jordan. And before you try to excuse it, there was no emergency. Jordan wasn't floating or anything. Clark did it cause Jordan broke up with Sarah. He left his son who admitted vulnerabilities in front of him and is scared for his future for his other son who is having girl trouble. Jon's very justified in this. Clark's not a great dad.
@@Markus2E5I6 Jon has some justification, but Clark is an amazing dad. Not perfect by any means and often messes up and forgets things, but provides for them, keeps them safe, tries (admittedly, often fails horribly) to see things from his sons' perspective, teaches by showing, and is always there when they truly need him. Clark is not perfect by any means, but he is a great dad. If you believe he isn't, then you either had a truly exceptional father or you are being disingenuous.
@@Isaic02 Great dad? First 14 years he was largely absent so much so that it was the main focus of season 1. He largely ignores Jon except if its a Jon episode and even then that's so rare that it becomes noteworthy. He left Jon in the barn alone after promising to hang out and again there was no emergency. He only became assistant coach once Jordan started football despite Jon doing football a lot longer and he never once tried then and you can't use the "he had to save the world" excuse cause that excuse could have worked out for Jordan he didn't suddenly get more time and the world didn't suddenly be in less danger. Jon in all 3 seasons admits he feels left out. They don't have many bad interaction its all just bland. Clark and Jon are basically strangers and he obviously plays favourites with Jordan. For instance tell me a Clark-Jon scene that doesn't mention/involve Jordan, Lois, danger or Jon being in trouble? there's very few. He's a nice person but not an amazing dad especially when he chose to have a family despite knowing he wouldn't have enough time to actually be a parent. Jordan is a massive mess emotionally and is one of the worst characters. Clark and Lois are hesitant to punish him and just enable his bad behaviour such as apologising after you rightfully yelled and he insulted you. Or giving him ice cream for breaking his brothers arm. They treat them differently too. Another example when they were all worried about Lana/Jon-El. Clark yells at Jon who's worried for his life but says nothing to Jordan who's complaining his mum dared to speak to Sarah. Or when Lois sends Jon upstairs for his earlier outburst and Jordan got a one to one despite Jon's problem being much bigger than my mum talked to my ex. Clark overall seems stricter with Jon.
@@Markus2E5I6 Well, he and Jon did have that nice 1 on 1 moment, before he completely forgot him in the barn to go train with Jordan lol. You've got some good points. I'll downgrade him to a "good dad" at worst. That said, you must consider all the context (positive and negative), because you can't ignore the details when judging someone and intent does matter. We certainly agree that Jordan is one of the worst characters. I tend to forget that Jon and Jordan are twins, since Jon is both more mature and often treated like the older sibling. One the annoyances for me, and this is one point Clark screws up often, is that Clark tells Jordan not to use his powers and that the "why" matters when saving people, but he never tells him why the "why" matters. Clark/Superman could clear up so very many potential problems with just a little more detailed explanations. Same issue with Anderson, even when Anderson clearly swallows his pride and admits he wasn't really prepared for the job, early in season 2, Superman could have been so much more clear and settled Anderson's very obvious doubts with just a little empathy. Though Anderson's screw-ups are entirely his own, they might could have been easily prevented.
My friend had a father who was extremely politically active. They were from Latin America, I won't specify further. He was an activist, a unionizer. At heart I guess he was a revolutionary. Incredibly smart guy, very well read, incredible organizer and public speaker. He used to say that after you know how normal people really getting fucked over everyday, you can't stay passive. So he didn't. Problem is that destroyed his personal life. He couldn't make any time for his family. He was a neglectful farther (even though when he was around, he was loving and caring) and a bad husband. Eventually, it was damaged beyond any repairs. My friend didn't speak with him for years. And then after one particular bloody protest, he got mortally wounded. Lying on his bed, dying he said to his son that, even though he wished he spent more time with him, he never regretted his life choices. Because they world is a lot more than people you love and even responsible for. However harsh it sounds.
Just got to say I always find that when you have one fun plan arranged and then you just turn around and go oh we were going to go hang out with so and so but maybe next it's one thing if you had a family emergency it's another thing if you have a fun activity planned already especially if it's with a family member that's just fuck
