What they have done in KZN was it the will of the voters?
@Jono98806
@Jono98806 Месяц назад
Well, the MK party still got less the 50% of the vote in KZN didn't they? That means that, regardless of the fact that they're the largest party in that province, more than 50% of the voters (meaning the majority) did not vote for them. So, therefore it's not against the will of the voters that they're not in government there.
@jaykin6970
@jaykin6970 Месяц назад
@@Jono98806, your assessment of percentages can't justify a mere 18 percenter section of KZN assisted by more than three parties whom when averaged can't even make half of 50% to rightfully think they can represent the will of the voters, let alone the people of KZN, especially on false premise of gnu!!
@Jono98806
@Jono98806 Месяц назад
@@jaykin6970 What are you talking about? The 4 parties that have formed the provincial government in KZN together form a majority. Yes, the IFP might only have gotten 18% of the vote by itself but they're governing together with 3 other parties which takes it above 50%. So, the provincial government in KZN represents the people who voted for any of those 4 parties, not just the IFP.

Hi Mighti, what difference does it make if the ANC, the DA and IFP together have control over the economic hubs of the country. The ANC had this control for 30 years and they brought the country down to its knees. This is an opportunity for them to work together for the betterment of the country. If the ANC is not negotiating in good faith then that means they have something up their sleeves to promote their past thieving and corruption.

Thank your for your impartial analysis. DA's attempt to overreach and arrohance must be checked. Mutual concessions and collaboration are needed in the interest and for the advancement of the country. In my view, a GNU is a government in which you invite other smaller parties or individuals to join in implementing the policies of that government. If you disagree with those policies, you can decide not to join or eventually resign. A coalition is much more demanding on either sides, with clear guidelines and common ground for the coalition to hold. So, why is this government called GNU in the first place whereas negotiations are led as in the case of a coalition. Is this confusion not intentional !

According to the Macmillan English Dictionary, if a place or an organization is going to the dogs, it is not as good as it was in the past. People often say things like “This country’s going to the dogs. Things aren’t like they were 30 years ago” or “This train service is going to the dogs. The trains are always late. The seats are uncomfortable and the fares are high”. The origin of this expression is believed to be in ancient China where dogs, by tradition, were not permitted within the walls of cities. Consequently, stray dogs roamed the areas outside the city walls and lived off the rubbish thrown out of the city by its inhabitants. Criminals and social outcast were often expelled from cities and were sent to live among the rubbish - and the dogs. Such people were said to have gone to the dogs, both literally in that that was where they were now to be found, and metaphorically in the sense that their lives had taken a distinct turn for the worse.

Actually, if you look at the policies that the EFF and MK promote, most people think that they'll cause the economy to tank and they're perceived to be corrupt. So, the notion that them governing KZN would be a disaster for the province is actually what a lot a people think.
@jaykin6970
@jaykin6970 Месяц назад
It is better you likened MK to EFF or vice versa as their policies converge, you can still count them as one altogether. And as for DA and ANC - it beats even proffesional analysts as to how they can find each other: it's like two gangsters fighting each other for territorial control, however agreeing to unite against a new emerging one to prevent it gaining momentum without any chance of trusting each other - it's no surprise they go thru public spats and do not want to give each other the benefit of being put first relative to another by results, instead seeing themselves as equally giving rise of one over another of which they despise even when they compromised their 'sovereignty' when agreeing to unite in war!!

@Jono98806
@Jono98806 Месяц назад
@@jaykin6970 The fact that they have different policies and even ideologies doesn't mean that they can't work together, it just means that they have to compromise. In fact, I'd argue that having an ideologically homogenous government is not necessarily good for democracy. Sometimes you need to listen to other perspectives in order to come up with better policies that work. I think that both the DA and the ANC at least want to lift people out of poverty and reduce income inequality but I could be wrong.
@jaykin6970
@jaykin6970 Месяц назад
@@Jono98806 I want to respect your strongly made point, however, put me into light to understand how a party that is against redress (another principle underlying democratic dispensation) would alleviate poverty much evident in the ever growing rich-poor inequalitis, to mention just one!?!?
@Jono98806
@Jono98806 Месяц назад
@@jaykin6970 I think that we need to understand what the policies actually are. I disagree with the DA's historical opposition to affirmative action, for example, because of course we need redress for inequalities created by the apartheid era. However, we also have to look at how effective these policies have been as currently implemented. It's been 30 years since since these policies have been put in place (initially done by Nelson Mandela's administration in 1995), but even now, 30 years later, economic inequality not only still exists, but is still divided along racial lines. White people are generally more wealthy that the majority black population and South Africa has the highest Gini coefficient of any country in the world. So, we at least need to review the policies in order to work out how to make them better and more effective. One way of lifting people out of poverty that has worked in other countries around the world is simply by growing the economy and hence creating more jobs for people who are unemployed, something which I think that DA has at least been in favour. So, in the case of lifting people out of poverty, it's probably a good idea to consider ideas from both sides and put them together. Both sides probably have both good and bad ideas but by combining them together and through negotiation, the good ideas (such as economic growth and redress policies) can be put forward while the bad ideas (such as outright opposition to affirmative action and BEE) can be sidelined.

They make one wonder how KZN landed with the DA IFP, ANC pact despite MK having the highest voter -share of close to 4 million voters? yet MK extinguished in. KZN might be foolishly viewed as done and dusted and a working template for other provinces , but the foundation is extremely rocky. 8What happened to "Rational and fair" , "Respectful settlement "? What are their voters saying? Hope these 3 parties that kicked out MK will not be severely punished in KZN. Jamie read it well, The label of arrogance given to the DA is as a result of DA attempting to control the economic cluster (Finance) in KZN, Western Cape and now in Gauteng 3 big economic hubs An absolute annoyer, used by Unions.Yes, "thrown to dogs"is an idiom. Sure, you agree with me, that this gnu is fraught with inconsistencies based on a false pretenses such as; the people have spoken, following the will of the people - while it is in fact a power-ego struggle taking opportunity of the people between individual parties that decided to wed a marriage of convenience, and the inconveniences are laying bare as they are spat publicly by the very same parties

You're missleading your listeners. 'Going to the dogs' has nothing to do with people. It's got to do with the effects of missmanagement i.e. the roads, electricity, water and other services become undesireable for humans to live with i.e . 'Going to the dogs'. Personally, I believe you just politicking and show biased judgement. Try to be respectful to the country's leaders and public to gain some credibility in your channel.

The phrase "we don't want to leave them to the dogs" is a metaphorical expression that means not wanting to abandon someone to a harsh or dangerous situation. It implies a desire to protect or care for those who might otherwise be left in a vulnerable or perilous condition. It is not typically interpreted as malicious or implying that someone is a dog. Instead, it is a figurative expression used to convey concern and a desire to prevent abandonment or harm. The "dogs" in this context are metaphorical, representing danger or adversity, rather than implying that the people in question are dogs. Can you not pick up on idioms and metaphorical language?
@UhuruUhuru
@UhuruUhuru Месяц назад
Why are the MK or EFF a harsh or dangerous alternative. The DA asserts this when they have worked with the EFF before. Herman Mashaba worked with the EFF. It’s a troubling use of language when one political rival thinks they are holy and others are dirty and not worthy even though they have been elected.
@zanulabuschagne4826
@zanulabuschagne4826 Месяц назад
@UhuruUhuru I agree, the fact that insults are going thrown around, one party calling another racists, white supremacists without proof, and the other using metaphors to describe their disdain. It really is becoming exhausting. It make sence that a liberal-capitalist party would not want to work with a Pan African Communist. Those two ideologies just don't mix. But, can we then fight against these name calling from all corners of politics, show your proof first before allegations. The last sentence you can use to describe how the EFF speak about the DA. Again, all hands are dirty in this war of words.

DA said anc/eff/mk will be dooms day and we heard anc NEC members saying how mass looting happend when anc and eff went into collision in ekurhuleni. We also all know the problems face kzn. Let's see what happens with the provinces till the next local election. Whoever does better will win. But I think voters are tired of being told how parties cares about them and once in power they enrich themselfs and forget bout us.

Her logic doesn't make sense to me. The "will of the people" argument is opportunistic because it's just a political arrangement, not the people's mandate. Suddenly there's talk of fairness and trust! Of course the ANC GP is playing dirty, but the DA were happy to be part of the political games when it suited them (KZN, failed moonshot pact, etc). It's like to spouses who marry after both cheating on their previous spouses - then one complains when the new partner cheats on them. Can't be too surprised.
