Im watching all of his stuff. What a really nice guy. A true entertainer. You know what I like is when someone can just pick up a guitar and play and it sounds just perfect and Colin is one of those people who does that so effortlessly.
Everything everyone is saying here about him is true. I met him in Oz just over 5 years ago and we had a chat afterwards. He was genuinely interested in talking to me partly because I'm Scottish and he wondered what made me go to Oz. A very nice and sincere guy who played a great gig. Everyone should see his shows while he is still performing.
I saw him in a venue in London in 1995 playing to about one hundred people, most of whom didn't seem to be paying attention to the music. It was an acoustic gig but Colin played really well to a disinterested crowd and was completely professional. I remember thinking at the time that it was hard to credit that he had fronted up MAW who played to huge crowds of up to 250,000 at their peak in the eighties, and yet he still cared enough to play to a somewhat smaller crowd and give it all he had. The measure of the man. He always comes across very well in interviews.
I saw him 2 years ago to probably the same size crowd and there wasn't a whisper in the room. Just pure heaven. Goes to show the respect he has gained and why all his shows are sold out.
I saw him in 2009 in a large club, with maybe 150 people there. He played an incredible set and met fans afterwards. Great musician and really nice guy
So far my favourite interview of Colin Hay! The man is charming, humble and has a wonderful sense of humour and the interviewer is lovely and authentic!
What a guy🤣, No pretensions. Love his acoustic guitar sound and that voice... I have sung along to his songs since down under hit UK chart no. 1 spot, I'm getting good... but I'm no Colin Hay. Thank you Mr Hay for so many great songs and the good memories they bring back 🧡
That episode rekindled my love of Overkill so much so I included it in my set from that day on. Still listen to Business as Usual. Great band, great album and Colin Hay is such a great talented guy.
The more I see of this guy the more I admire him ! He is a musical genius who could easily have been an equally great comedian :o) Brilliant stuff ! Please dont ever stop Colin :o)
Vraiment cool Colin Hay, un vrai talent, bravo... Si vous voulez rire un peu, allez faire un tour directement à la neuvième minutes de l'interview, vous ne serez pas décu !!!
Yes he did . I will probably upload it at some stage, I missed the first part of the song, only the first couple of lines, but it still shows his brilliance on 12 string. The song was "I haven't seen you in a long time" Keep watching this space.
To be still working at 80 pretty impressive. Keeps your mind active. His voice is the same as with men at work ; didn't know he was with toto. A brilliant Scott. Drunk people- you play that better than the original.
I don't know if he is purposely controlling his lazy eye, if so I wish he wouldn't! I adore that lazy eye and in my eyes it makes him sexy and alluring. Eyes of the beholder. I prefer corks in people, like Pam Griers slanted mouth, Mila Kunis two different color eyes etc.
Seems to happen to a lot of the Scottish imports. They learn to speak aussie as a kid to stop being beaten up at school then it filters back as adults.
She talks about him having the "Aussie" sense of humour. As good as that may be, Colin has more of the typical Scottish sense of humour, I think. Whatever, he's a very funny and talented guy.
Colin was on comedian Pete Holmes podcast "You Made it Weird" recently. 2 hours of Colin sharing stories and songs. A great listen if you appreciate Colin's work. soundcloud.com/youmadeitweird/colin-hay
