Colonel Maybourne has a cozy little jet 

He was still a bad guy but this shows us that he was competent at his job, that probably why he ran circles around SG1 an Hammond most of the time. I do wonder how much of the USS Prometheus was built on knowledge gain by his "illegal" off world program.

@@DavidKnowles0 I only wish he had an even bigger role in this episode. If I recall right (been years since I actually saw the episode), he's not that important on screen. Sure, he storms the base at the end of the episode etc, but by that time Sam is already being the big action hero doing things on her own. And while I understand why a show like this would focus on the actual maincast, and especially the female lead that's often looked down upon for being a woman/scientist by other characters, it would have been nice if the show truly showed us how competent people like Maybourne can be, despite being an antagonist alot of the time.

@@uberjens What are you talking about? Mayborne had a lot of moments in the show, e.g. he helped saving Carter's ass when she got abducted, helped take Kinsey down etc.

@@DavidKnowles0 I wouldn’t say he was a bad guy entirely. I think he’s more of an anti-hero or even an anti-villain. The thing about Maybourne is that even though he was always more than happy to skim a little off the top for himself and sometimes put himself first in general- he also had noble goals, namely helping Earth to grow more powerful and gain knowledge to defend itself. He may have been underhanded and Machiavellian about it- but let’s face it, just like in real life, governments make stupid decisions and while the goody two shoes SG-1 are examples of a very important type of hero- the world also needs types like Maybourne who know when to ignore governmental nonsense, and how flexible ethics have to be to actually get done what needs to be done. I think Maybourne is a great character.

@@DavidKnowles0 Colonel Maybourne isn't part of the SGC. Carter got him involved cause she didn't know who to trust other than another Air Force Officer who had no affiliation with the SGC.

When the choice is 'shoot a gun at relatively close quarters with pretty high confidence they'll strike a body' vs 'get murdered by aliens', sometimes you gotta risk it.

@@ReddwarfIV if it hits a window it could lead to the whole window being broken open, which would be more than pressure systems on a small private plane can take.

@MikeJF85 A learjet maybe. Maybourne's jet is a Boeing 707. Cabin pressure would be lost slowly, masks would drop, and the flight crew would descend to an altitude with breathable air. I was assuming when you said "sudden drop in altitude" that this either meant a sudden drop of pressure, or was a euphemism for crashing.
