That's the thing with him, deep down Maybourne is a patriot but also he puts Earth first, he obviously doesn't go about it with the same morality and or through 'official channels' but he and SGC are basically fighting for the same thing in the long run, to defend Earth from alien threats of which there are many.

He aint an idiot, he pretty good at what he does. He was running that secret operation with the second gate for a good year or more before being discovered due to one civilization being aggressive to SG-1. If it wasn't for that, he probably wouldn't have been discovered for even longer.

I prefer the mystery.

Yep, I wish they would have brought back these aliens for a sense of closure. Heck, they were able to do it with Linnea, not sure why they couldn’t do it with these.

For a side character, he had really good character development over the course of the show.

Maybourne may be misguided but he is still a patriot.

@@Locutus494 you're right that the Carter is an officer and not a WO. And you're correct in that the USAF did not have WOs during this time period. But that doesn't mean the USAF never had WOs at all. The USAF stopped appointing WOs in the late 50s or early 60s, but existing WOs continued to serve at that grade until they got promoted. And fun fact: the USAF is bringing the WO ranks back as of 2024.

Especially since hte Stragoth may have come from another galaxy.

they are from milky way, they visited the planet where the foothold aliens were, thats how they were able to make a beachead.

To be honest, I was glad they got rid of these guys :D :D

Even more odd, is given the nature of how SG1 universe later developed, i.e. revealing that our galaxy was seeded by the ancients, you have to wonder why races like the Nox were even in our galaxy. And they were supposedly on the same level as the ancients, so you'd think other advanced species would have an issue with the ancients using a giant device to seed the galaxy's habitable worlds all at once, if they were sharing it. Just goes to show how little they actually had figured out about the direction they wanted the show to go in at the beginning.

They planned to bring them back in a later episode called "Grace" but we never saw who was flying the ship. It would have also been interesting to encounter them in either Pegasus even in Universe. If they were in Universe it could've even set up a potential to get the crew home.
