Comparing my colorsound power boost verse my tru-fi color driver and also my fuzzface pedals using my American fender strat into my 65 fender twin Reverb and Marshall mg15dfx amps.
I think you nailed the differences between these two really close sounding pedals. Of course Sola Sound has remarkable clarity and musicality, while Tru Fi has better overdriven tone and a unique tonal palette to cover the power boost tones.
I find that the solasound powerboost has its own distinct sound to it and the true fi color driver has that sound butt set on clean it's pretty transparent
Sorry for the boring question. Has this Powerboost been modified to work with power supplies? I have a Colorsound Overdriver, and I always feel like nightmare when I open the back cover every time I change the battery! And thanks for the great comparison video!
Beck used the colorsound Overdriver which was just 9v... The original Powerboost was 18v, and had stacks more headroom than the overdriver, Gilmour used the 18v Powerboost. Also the original Powerboost didn't have a master volume like yours has.... Yours is more like an overdriver. I built an 18v powerboost clone for Steve Mac of the Aussie Floyd and he was blown away at how different the 18v pedal was to the 9v pedal.
This is the Aussie floyd 9v version. The founders family member at macaris music in London where I purchased it from says I can run it at 18v also if I please. I don't just incase. Wish I had the 18v for more headroom but need the master volume.
@@VI-rt7sh be careful... the first run of 9v overdrivers were sold in powerboost enclosures as they had some left over....it was then that the US distributors asked that the design be changed to the grey enclosure with the overdriver name. Beck used the 9v overdriver, as far as I know he never used the 18v powerboost
