A few points. At 34:15 and +/-, Rabbi Stein notes that the Last Supper was not a seder in that the seder was developed much later in the Rabbinic Judaism tradition. The Catholics (seem) apparently to think it was, as they insist on the Eucharist being served with unleavened bread. We Orthodox know via the Gospel of St John that "artos" - the Greek word for common bread, that is, leavened bread, was used. Jesus broke (in "half') common bread, which is what the Orthodox use in the Eucharist Gifts. Also, I just learned that the Feast of the Unleavened Bread is celebrated the Next Day (after Passover). Everything about the Passion story (I think this is a Catholic image) is geared to Jesus celebrating the Feast of Passover, not the Feast of the Unleavened Bread. At 1:30:15 Rabbi Stein says that the Messiah will be a being from God, not a flesh and blood human. Setting aside the flesh and blood aspect (sorta), then a line of questions for the future is how is this different from the Christian understanding of the Second Coming? Does it matter to Jews who the Messiah is (to kick off the Messianic Age), as in could they accept Jesus Christ (fitting the coming event) as the Messiah? I was a little concerned at the start that Father was asking the Rabbi about certain Christian beliefs. The Rabbi made clear that Jews today express Judaism as the post Temple rabbis developed it, not a Temple based, Biblical, Judaism that Jesus experienced. I was going to liken Father's questions to how Jerome who translated the Scriptures in Latin used the current Hebrew writings rather than the Septuagint (the Hebrew Scriptures in Greek from 200 BCE), thinking they were more accurate. Justin Martyr had already noted that the Hebrew Scriptures had been corrupted by the rabbis. But this is too involved for this. Orthodox Christians should trust what the Church and Holy Tradition have given us, the Faithful.

🌞 Greek Orthodoxy has alot of Judism in their tradition's. Reform Judism is too cold & dry for my nature. Greek Orthodoxy is focused on the family, the ❤️ heart, hospitality 🍰, gardening 🌷, love of nature & the ⛵ ocean. It's my humble opinion. I respect all people to walk their path in peace. 🐬 Susan Marcile

Paul says explicitly that God does not care about ethnicity, heredity, gender and the like. All are one in Messiah. Modern day Judaism is based on Talmudic interpretation, and in its orthodox form, focused on minutiae of law, rather than love, justice and mercy, as Jesus taught against the pharisees who plotted against Him

False. Judaism is based on the Torah. I suggest you read the first 5 books of the Old Testament carefully. The Eternal God insists on His Laws to be taken in custody and practice by the people who were the first monotheist but He loved and loves them and always will and Hé forgives them, shows Himself to them and forgives them.

Would have been more valuable had you invited an Orthodox / Hasidic Rabbi. “Reformed” Judaism is little more than a cultural club. Although I wonder how appropriate it is to host the cleric of a non-Christian religion in the knave of a Church to begin with. 🤔

When Supeervisor of Sunday school in a Protestant Church years ago, I took all Sunday School to Jewish Synogogue, in order to learn about the faith Jesus grew up with and some of the mothers drove and wnt along and the minister agreed with this whole idea, It was very informational to us all including the reading right to left ,and all the many things they taught, I just wanted the young people to see and learn a little about Jesus life when on earth. Then explaining" the rest of the story" LOL of how Jesus is God and Holy spirit and came to teach and save and heal, and the salvation part and being the messenger is the one thing the Jewish faith has not all come along on board. Unless , Messianic Jews.

The question about rabbis being teachers. The Jewish concept is different to our priests because Judaism no longer has a valid or currently functioning priesthood since the destruction of the temple as seen in the Old Testament or during the time of Jesus but we orthodox believe that the priesthood never died but is directly continued in the Orthodox Church as we see Jesus giving priesthood authority to his apostles and then they ordaining other presbyters

"I grew up- the Last Supper was a Passover meal. Well, is that true?" What kind of question is that?! Why is an Orthodox priest asking an unbelieving Jewish rabbi if the Last Supper was a Passover meal?? Luke 22:7-20 tells us that it was. St. Paul tells us that Jesus is our Passover lamb. We eat His flesh and drink His blood, the Holy Eucharist, which is eating the Passover in the kingdom of God. You don't have to ask an unbeliever about this sort of thing, let alone ask if its true.

People should read “Jesus in the Talmud” by Peter Schaefer. This rabbi , as sincere as he is, is very kind to his representation of the Jewish perspective of Jesus. Nothing against this kind rabbi, but The Talmud and the rabbinical writings throughout antiquity tell a much different view /story towards Jesus, Mary , Christians and the disciples/ the church.

The problem with the royal we argument is that it ignores the two powers theory, the divine council theory and several other accepted theories. The royal we theory also fails because it's not used again after genesis. God never says "we will" afterwards, so it makes no sense. It's completely anomalous. If Moses wrote the 5 books like he's said to have done, why switch like that? It's a stupid argument
@jasonthompson8904

Rabbinic Judaism today id derived from a movement that intentionally removed any of the Christian proofs from Judaism, whether that is the "Two Powers in Heaven" controversy or other elements. Why would we ask them anything?
@user-zo4mk9iv8c

Christianism was defined by councils called by political Emperors who seized the opportunity. The Church Orthodoxe, Catholic even worse and to a lesser extent protestants have uprooted Jesus from his judaic tradition. When i listen to rabbis i can hear Jesus. Jesus was a jew lived as a Rabbi and probably belonged to the Essanian mouvement. I agree with the jewish man although we must add that Messianic Jews that is Jews who integrate the belief in the first coming of the Messiah do exist. They are waiting as Christians for the Messiah. Jews who accept that Jesus was crucified for their sins is found in EsaIa 53. The Messiah who comes in the last has another role and the anointment by G.od empowers Him to fulfill it.

That's weird because that term wasn't used by anyone recorded until 1821 when an Irish Protestant missionary named Alexander McCaul used it in a letter. It was a Protestant term used by a Church attempting to utilize modern rabbinical traditions (which didn't develop until long after Christ BTW) to help convert Jews. So I strongly disagree that the term "Judeo Christian," is appropriate in any way for Orthodox Christians.

Jews steer away from any knowledge about our faith because it would make known to them the weakness of their own "faith". Jews barely ever engage in theological debate for the same reason.
