Vancouver is the leading bid for the 2030 Olympics, the bid is put forth by the Four Host First Nations (Lilwat, Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations) jointly with the mayors of Vancouver and Whistler. It is the first indigenous-led bid in Olympics history.

Vancouver 2030 needs to happen, our beautiful beautiful country is so torn apart and divided geopolitically and by matters of opinion right now. The Olympics in 2010 really brought us all together as a nation and we need it more than ever now
@unknownprofile7791

Regrettably, as much the local government of BC as the federal government dismissed the proposal of hosting the 2030 Winter olympics in Vancouver. I supposed it was due to financial issues.
@paddocklockersby8089
@paddocklockersby8089 Год назад
As much as I wish for that too, I honestly think one Olympics in Vancouver is good enough for now. Financially, things are much different than what it used to be, not just in Vancouver, but for Canada too. And culturally, I think another Olympics would be too soon so we should wait a little longer before Canada can host again, because in my view, Vancouver 2010 was once in a lifetime And the memories there are too irreplaceable ro replicate.
@unknownprofile7791
@unknownprofile7791 Год назад
@Paddock Lockersby the fact is that it could be either for financial issues or even because of the local people will. That kind of games are hosted, and the local gvmt doesn't consider their people's opinions, and they think the organization of such games is really expensive and implies high amounts of money and consequently a high tax charges.

Honestly, to me there isn't one opening ceremony that's better than the other. Each one is meant to represent its country, its culture, its people... not to beat the previous olympics. I watch it because I feel that people taking part in it look so proud, it's purely magical to witness something so special. I don't understand why everyone is arguing about who made the best one, like I get it, Sochi was amazing, Beijing was amazing... but get over it, it's done, they were all amazing and there will be amazing ceremonies in the future also. Can't you just sit down and appreciate? I don't go around clicking on every damn opening ceremony to bash on other countries. That's so annoying.

The first time an opening and closing ceremony in a Winter games that was held Indoor. The first time the host country won the most number of golds on it's own soil! When Canadians are still united...from east to west everyone went out, made noise and waved the Canadian Flag when Sydney Crosby scored that golden goal in an Overtime game against the US!!! Who knew a decade from this moment that we’d be in the predicament we are in now? It’s nice to have these videos up and running, brings back fond memories and a small hope that one day I’ll actually be able to attend on of these events in the flesh, not watching from behind a screen. That being said, the best memory I have of these Olympics was the Men’s Gold Medal Hockey game. My entire grade 6 class was watching that on the Smartboard that the teacher put on while we worked, and I remember after transitioning to my Social teacher’s classroom about 15-30mins in, I heard the most uplifting, joyous shriek I have ever heard from a group of people from my other classroom as Canada scored the overtime goal. Pure bliss I tell you. What I would do to relive that momentous occasion for my young self.

I think the First Nations culture is fascinating and should be part of all sort of national ceremonies.
