I miss the 90's. There was no self-censorship and no social networking, people used to actually be mindful of their surroundings instead of looking at their phones.
Virgil Grissom there was censorship, it just wasn't quite as prevalent because the Internet wasn't widely available and obviously, there weren't ten gazillion tv channels competing for the same thing. Censorship isn't going away, it just mutates like a cancerous tumor.

*TL;DR:* Yes. Conan wrote for the Simpsons and Futurama I believe (could be wrong). But he didn't create that idea. After WW2 essentially the entire world was either in ruins or broke, US was the only super rich country and they were looking to the future already. Flying cars, the Jetsons, colored TV, and yes even television with smell were all part of that future. I cant recall the person that directed it but there was a famous movie/show and a New York Times best seller in the 60's about it.. that's where Conan got it from.

Cell phones were not smart phones. They were voice only and had no cameras (well a few super low res). Most of these deliveries were of documents, lots of pages. This was before businesses had high speed internet.

If we'd look at it from logical point of view, there are few options.. Firstly, it doesn't even need to go to Africa, as there re plenty of underprivileged & homeless people in US who could use any spare food.. there are plenty of Food Banks where you can donate any food &/or blankets, cloths, etc.. Now as far as Africa or any other 3rd world country goes, I'm sure there are plenty of charities that would gladly accept any support.. But, this clip is actually a good example of how Western Nations see reality.. For most part it's all about ones-self & consumerism.. You wouldn't believe how much stuff people discard-off.. stuff like furniture, electronics, kitchenware, cloths, ridiculous amount of perfectly good food & much much more.. & when you try to point-out this wastefulness, people get angry by saying "What Do You Care, It's My Money, I Do What I Want".. What these same people fail to understand that there are people who literally starve.. children who starve.. people who live & sleep on the streets. whilst it's raining, snowing, etc.. & those who were lucky in life to be able to afford those luxuries, cannot comprehend that they could've been in that same situation.. that living a wasteful life helps absolutely no one, not even the "waster" himself.. But unfortunately because of greed & apathy people are cruel & have no regard for their fellow man.. I think majority of people like that are simply sociopaths, perhaps even with narcissistic tendencies, as it's all about them, & never about someone else..
