I opened up my GTIL inverter and found it has a very clean layout inside. So I would open the new inverter and physically reverse the pins on the "Internal" limiter connector from the inside. That way, the two inverters have uniform polarity on its internal limiter port which will greatly reduce confusion later. There is a RU-vid video showing the GTIL inverter with its front case removed and it shows the sensor connectors from the inside: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_vaPt-OTQk4.html This video also shows a "hidden" connector in the GTIL inverter that allows you to *directly* control the inverter's output via 5k potentiometer or via a microcontroller if you want to implement your own governor -- something I might do later.

Excellent tutorial! Just what I need. Question: You have to manually set the menu options in each inverter to be the same right? There is no master/slave arrangement? Specifically, I'm wondering how would the input-side "current limit" & "voltage limit" work if these values are set differently in each inverter.
@SolarEngineering
@SolarEngineering 3 года назад
Hi, correct 2 inverters fully independent, you could set individual settings for every inverter. For example, inverter #1 could be limited to 1kW output and shut off when battery dropping to 50V, inverter #2 could do full output (2kW) and shut off when battery voltage will drop to 49V.

i did this too like 3 years ago but i had nothing but problems, sometimes it seems fine then other times it puts to much power to the grid or way to little, it was real random, i found just having each unit use their own clamp sensor was more reliable, i just have 4 clamps all on the same main cable but spaced slightly apart, then i used normal cat 8 ethernet cable to extend the length by 30m
@benkanobe7500
@benkanobe7500 2 года назад
Did the 30Meter length cause any problems? I have two 1000Watt 120VAC units I intend to put one on each leg of my North America split-phase system each with its own CT sensor (limiter). I need to extend the cable length on each sensor to 25 feet (7.6 meters).
@Yahgiggle
@Yahgiggle 2 года назад
@@benkanobe7500 nope, its been working sweet, the only problem i ever got was when i connected all inverters to one clamp sensor, they need there own clamp sensor to work right or you get random inverters doing random things, like pumping in too much power or not enough, the cat 8 cable has enough wires inside to connect upto 4 sensors and the cable is made for low noise so its perfect and cheap.

DEAR FRIEND .This on grid inverter with limiter has got only 2 terminals that you may connect the + and - of the solar energy.But in the same terminals you may connect the battery.Yes? It seems that it can not operate the system with solars and battery connected simply because if you use the solars to give to the grid then these have some protection voltage which id different from the protections of nbattery discharge.So this focus our thinking to have the possible connections of this inverter. A. connect straight awaw the panels to the inverter and have no battery. B.Use solar energy to charge up battery and then connect straight away the battery to the inverter.Your solar will charge your battery and the battery always will give voltage to the MPPT of the inverter.Please answer me if you agree.Thank u very much.

@@SolarEngineering Thank You! Your system is amazing! What I am proposing to you is what you called the basic system which you drew in the above RU-vid at the time "12:43". That is what I have been doing a poor job of explaining and my goal to build. Please look back at your basic system at "12:43" and imagine the GTIL is in Battery Mode with low voltage cut off correct for my very large 12VDC AGM batteries wired in Series (36VDC)/ Parallel. If I leave GTIL in battery mode, then during the day I get batteries charged by MPPT controller and also supply GTIL with power from the batteries to handle the loads. When the sun goes to sleep, MPPT charge controller stops due to low voltage disconnect, but that is not a problem because GTIL doesn't care, it just continues to draw power from the batteries only. If batteries hit set value in GTIL for low voltage disconnect in the night, then cycle just restarts in the morning when MPPT starts back up and powers batteries up to reconnect voltage set in GTIL. Assume for this explanation 5KW of panels, Southern California, perfect southern exposure, and ground-based 5KW of panels. Will what I am proposing work? If not, why? Thank You. you can reverse limiter sensor flow or direction instead of rewiring polarity... jizz, painful to watch

Not true the way he put them in parallel. You would be correct otherwise. The polarity is switched internal to one GTI so this was a workaround. He could have opened the unit and corrected it there without any need for the polarity reversal wiring.
