@@ObiwanNekody I know which one of those popularity contests you're referring to but that is actually written as Frieren (フリーレン) not the Mimic that got 1st place. The Mimic (ミミック) got 100th place in that particular competition.
Sense knows who Frieren is. She watched her break Serie's barrier. She knew about the Holy Emblem. And she and Genau were just talking about Frieren being the "Last Great Mage". And if she studied her history on the Hero Party she also knows that the Hero Party cleared something like 80% of all the dungeons in existence during their quest to defeat the Demon King. So of course she'd decide to go with Frieren and Fern....
Also don't forget that thanks to frieren the zoltrak spell was passes on to others and also started with flamme the mage title and gave the ability for humans to learn magic and not be considered treason since demons were the only ones able to use magic. So yes in conclusion frieren has been alive since the dinosaurs
Important thing to remember: the place they're in right now is a live unexplored dungeon, all the stuff they're facing is the work of whatever monsters reside in said dungeon it's not something set up by the examiners
well , frieren the slayer its just a little license the english translation took since ''sousou no frieren'' doesnt mean frieren the slayer , sousou in this case means ''funeral'' or burial rites coz thats the name demons actually gave her
Himmel is basically an old soul trapped(?) in the Hero's body, even his self-sacrifice of never revealing his massive love for Frieren is what you'd expect and older and mature man to do ...I think the reason why this series is so popular is that speaks to us older fellas in such a different way to traditional anime...like I GET HIMMEL!! I've been there before, distancing myself from a younger wamen I loved because I knew she'd be better off without me and learn life without someone more experienced like me :(
@@lushia_lf Frieren is obviously older but by elf standards she's barely above her teenage years, elves like Kraft and Serie see her as a complete kid because they're ANCIENT beings compared to her (and there's not many elves left alive). About me...she was in her early twenties and me in my mid thirties (my username gives away my age), we met at college and she was the one who confessed to me but there was way too much negative peer pressure from friends her age + family bc her sister had had bad experiences with older guys before so I decided to take a step back to spare her the sorrow of having such a complicated first relationship. I don't regret my decision but of course I miss her a lot because I also fell in love with her, now we're graduated and in different cities so I just hope that life is good to her...I haven't dated anyone since.
The blue light that came on was what created the replicas. It is replicating every mage that entered the dungeon. Remember that this is an undefeated dungeon. No one has ever reached the bottom and very few ever returned. The replica of Frieren is guarding the final room of the dungeon because she's the strongest mage currently inside the dungeon. So what created the replicas is using the replica of Frieren to protect itself.
I think you're trying to hard to cram pacifism into everything you see here. Most of the time it had nothing to do with what you were talking about. Himmel wanting to fully explore each floor isn't a form of pacifism, he just enjoys exploration. Denken having a methodical thoughtful and pragmatic approach to things has nothing to do with pacifism. Frieren is very very clearly NOT a pacifist. Real pacifists believe violence is categorically wrong. They believe it so strongly they will peacefully allow themselves and others to be killed instead of fighting back. That's pacifism. And since it was established that no one had yet been able to explore this dungeon and return, Sense could not have a pacifism based lesson planned for the test because she doesn't know what's inside the dungeon. At best she could have assumed it had no living entities inside and so any conflict would be against magical or mechanical traps and constructs allowing for it to be completed non-violently. And she provided each test taker with a means of escape so that they would be less likely to die. The pacifism here is just a trait of hers, not a lesson all mages need to have. Her test is about basically how nothing should be impossible for a first class mage. She believes that to the point she hinged the validity of her test on her being able to reach the bottom of a dungeon that no one, not even herself had ever reached. Because she believes she'll be able to do it no matter what.
Yeah. Pacifism does not mean "vow of non violence". Sense herself is a powerful warrior mage. She just doesn't see the point of fighting for the sake of fighting. But as we learned before, humans are easily fooled by words :D
(Kinda spoiler) When Serie commented about Frieren killing the demon king she replied she didnt do it alone. if even one of them fall they would have lost. Heiter and Eisen are important roles too. technically the most important roles on boss raids a healer and tank. I know Himmel is great but i hope people stop crediting him like he soloed the demon king.
I think the Labyrinth made clones of themselves first, then the next room they fight the clone of the strongest on in the dungeon. The problem is, the clones only replicate their memories, not their emotions.
Dilettante: a person who cultivates an area of interest, such as the arts, without real commitment or knowledge. I'm not entirely sure who Frieren is referring to, though. The buried king, possibly? Whoever built the tomb? Or maybe it's a mistranslation of whatever the Japanese original was...
@@SirBlackAxe It's a common trope in a lot of JRPGs for there to be a collectable alternate currency that can be traded into a specific NPC for unique rewards. Even Pokemon does it from time to time, like how Heart Scales can be traded to the Move Reminder.

No big deal of course, but thought you might want to know since you're always good at character name pronunciation. (The names are German, so they're a bit difficult. You're too focused on this "pacifism" thing, it does not play a part in this test. It's just sense's philosophy. She didn't create this dungeon, she doesn't have any power on the dungeon.
8:45 as a D&D and RPG lover, Himmel's mindset is truly the most adventurer party like it could be. Like you say, while he believes the end goal and peace is important, he knows the journey is just as important and if not more. He lived a good life.
Frieren (fake version) is literally the final boss of the dungeon. We see a teaser/clue in the OP that both Frieren and Fern facing against an unknown figure and now we know that they would be the ones to defeat the replica of Frieren. Explore every nook and cranny of the dungeon. Try every wall for secret passages. Go through every trap, event the most obvious, to see what lies behind. Open every chest, even if you know it is trapped, even if it is a mimic.Frieren is a true adventurer : rather dealing with a mimic than with the regret of leaving a chest unopened :)
There is a German RU-vidr, Storieswithstyle, who has a lovely video giving an analysis of the names(character, location, and spell) as they appear in the anime up to episode 16. It is very much worth watching, and I would love to hear your thoughts on his analysis of the names. (The names in Frieren are almost all German words)
Sense being a pacifist: I will give a option to not die and the test is not about killing each other. But clearly don't mean there are no fight. Frieren is the cutest final boss 😊

All these combat mages can only make a living off of being mafia. Future successful mages will have to produce services or goods. Being the town ice cream maker, or creating home assistant golems
I actually thought the same thing. It could be a Himmel-illusion type of situation again, when it just said "shoot me" because it's what Himmel would've said. And that used memories as well so... i'd think Frieren's clone at the very least wouldn't shoot to kill? I hadn't made the connection to the whole pacifist thing tho
