And also the fight scene for Übel was insane. Not only was the animation so smooth and fluid, but the transition from a 3rd to 1st person POV midbattle was amazing. I've only seen this done a few times and never done with such fluidity. The Madhouse animation team continues to bring their A-game. Thanks for your reaction 🌸

The animation is top tier. The way the animators have managed to expand on the manga panels, especially the fight scenes, makes this a rare instance of an animated adaptation surpassing the dead tree original. The good audio work helps too. Which is your favorite combat animation of the series so far? I think Fern's battle in Episode 9 is my favorite.

@@ObiwanNekody true and this is the more reason I love Madhouse not to mention the team working on this animation are all GOATS. that's why I felt happy when the anime was announced, I Started the Manga a year after it's release and so far my favorite fight scene is yet to be animated probably will have to wait for Season 2 (which they are currently working on btw) but I'll have to go agree with you because that episode 9 was fire and beautifully animated to perfection. Can't wait for Macht vs Denken and Solitar vs Frieren

@@ChrisH43 my source is 💯 accurate since I live in Japan and all also have a friend on X who works for Madhouse. I guess when episode 28 finishes airing they will announce it in some weeks afterwards. It seems you don't even begin to understand how much money Frieren made for Madhouse in both animation and Manga sales!! They made a shit ton of money same thing JJK is doing for Mappa

2:44 Sense wants them to work together. If they are all evenly match against their clones, the way for them to defeat the clones without casualties is analyze themselves and come up with a team effort (who matchs up best against who, what are each other weakness and how they can explore that as a team.. and such). That's her concept of being a pacifist.

I think the point behind this test and why Sense as a “pacifist” designed it like this is that if you fight a perfect replica of yourself head on, the result comes down to luck, so we would expect 50% casualties on a average among the examinees. To pass without casualties the examinees must work together as a team, but also they each must reflect on their own strengths and weaknesses, and then trust their teammates enough to TELL them about their weaknesses honestly, so that together they can formulate a plan to safely take down each clone by matching that clone’s weakness against the strength of another team member, in a giant convoluted game of multi-faceted rock-paper-scissors.

12:18 Frieren is resistant to it cause of the large difference in mana. Methode (the lady who tested the spells) said it a bit earlier, this is a slightly different worded translation of the line she said "It usually would work as long as there isn't a big difference in mana." And we already know how big Frieren's mana is thanks to Aura the Guillotine 🤣

i completely regret getting caught up and current on this show specifically bc of this labyrinth arc. i cannot keep going a full week waiting for the next episode lol. the animation during that ubel v ubel battle still has me floored a day later. i went into frieren expecting mostly slice of life type series and these battles constantly have me in awe.

I love how, even when Frieren joins the group, the strategy isn't just 'Let them fight.' A battle between two full-power Frierens might bring down the whole tomb, or at least catch the other mages in the crossfire.

If they ganged up of clone Frieren as a group then Frieren can stalemate the clone while the others pour fire on it until they overwhelm it, but if Frieren happens to know any particularly devastating AoE attack spells (and of course she does) then it is pretty much guaranteed that at least some of the others are going to die.

I'm still wondering what the two girls who were with Frieren previously are up to. We haven't seen them since they entered last episode. Also it's great that the two people with Denken listen to him lol. I knew it was going to be Fern who offers to beat clone Frieren because honestly who else could. Also man, having Sense join in because she wanted to observe but ofc there is a clone of her. That ssuccckksss. When Frieren hugged Methode back and Fern was doing typical Fern pouting lol so adorable. I want to learn more about her because she seems strong.

@@farohreacts Well... i am pretty sure that Serie could kick her butt in a straight 1:1 fight. Remember Frieren telling Fern she lost 11 times in 1000 years to other mages including one elf and the only other elf mage we seen so far (even in flashbacks) is Serie. I think there might be a good chance it was her.

@@ogami7661 nope it was not Serie because frieren said she lost 11 times to mages with less mana than her and Serie has WAY more mana than Frieren. She is definitely stronger than frieren and can beat her in a 1 v 1 but she was not among the people frieren was talking about. Frieren mentioned only the mages with less mana than her that she lost to.

Closed Captions can provide subtitles, and even generated ones are usually good for English. The box with 'CC' toggles them in the player I use. Good luck with your linguistic journey!
