Console Wars- Super Smash TV - Super Nintendo vs Sega Genesis

Thanks guys, I've been curious about how the gun fire would work on the Mega Drive for ages now. The SNES version is a fantastic conversion of the arcade game and not a hint of slowdown. The SNES control pad is almost tailor made for Smash TV.

"How?" * * controller flies into hand* * "Two controllers!" I watched that part five times!

I don't think anything in the world gets me more excited than a new Console Wars upload.

"Whats uncomfortable about this?" while holding a controller in each hand. lol!

I loved this game growing up.. remember it from the arcade.. I remember when i first played it on console.. It hasnt aged gracefully but it was groundbreaking in its time.. I think my imagination made it better than what it was but that is why I like channels like Console Wars bc they bring back good childhood memories.. Good job

Good job, fellas. My suggestion for an episode is The Pagemaster on Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. I won't say which is the best but it's going to be an interesting versus match.

"I'd buy that for a dollar!" No contest here, Smash TV on SNES rules! One of my all-time faves for the system. I think it's even better than the original arcade version. I prefer the 4-buttons over the dual sticks. It just works so well. And I think the music is better than the arcade, too. Yeah, the game is censored, but it's not a big deal. And those sound effects--the gunshots and explosions--just pumps you up for the kill! With all of that being said, I'm actually surprised with how well the Genesis version plays, and its control scheme actually works pretty well. But yeah, SNES all day on this one. Great episode, guys!

The first time I played SMASH TV was at Nickel Nickel Arcade in Anaheim California. What a wonderful childhood.

Console Wars!! Your channel rules

Nice reference to interdimensional cable. maybe you guys need to compare last action hero with a plot where the two of you are inside the game due to the magic ticket, like in the movie.

Another awesome video! You guys do a great job keeping the pace and humour running for a whole 20 minutes. Your personalities play well off each other for this sort of thing and it's always entertaining. Good stuff! I'm shocked though: to my ears and sound system (just rewired), the Genesis has more intelligible speech samples! Obviously a lot of subjectivity on this, but I think the sound quality overall is a little better on Genesis...sometimes those piercing FM sounds trounce the sample-based fuzz of the SNES, even though I usually prefer the latter. I figured the control scheme would leave the Sega in the dust...it's just too important. Since the Genesis seemed to get thrashed pretty bad with this game review, maybe you guys could look at Flashback for both systems: the vector-graphic cutscenes perform way better on the Genesis, but what about the sound, etc.?

I'm excited if they are doing battletoads next! I played the one for nes on the rare replay collection. Hope u guys can do super street fighter 2, mk3 and/or ultimate mk3 in the future. Been watchin a lot of past episodes the past month or so and love ur channel, keep up the gr8 work. Also, plan to buy a lot of these games that i like as well for both systems based on the winners. Just noticed the death from above 1979 on the arcade machine. Kick ass band.

Guys... Let's look up the "180 degree rule". It is one of the most important rules when filming a dialog scene like you do all the time. This will help your sketches look accurate.

I wanted to try to play the Genesis version too for my playthrough but it looked so much harder than the SNES version. I wound up playing the NES version when all was said and done just to be different and use the two d pad control set up. But good job on really showing the differences of these two versions here. SNES is clearly the better version when all is said and done.

Really good episode guys. I will say that on the 8-Bit consoles this is a no contest win for NES as the Master System port was just horrible. My suggestion would again be for Demolition Man (or even a Stallone month featuring Demolition Man, Cliffhanger, and Judge Dredd) because frankly I'm very curious as to what type of intro/outro skits you guys would come up with for those.

The Smash TV in the Midway Arcade Treasures collection on the PS2 is the definitive version to play as the PS2 has the dual analog control sticks.

Such a great game! Never knew about it til a few yrs ago, play it on my snes very often. Wish id found it in an arcade as a kid.
