I am so grateful that you are standing up and stating so clearly what desperately needs to be said and understood at this crucial moment for democracy 👏👏👏
I just hope and pray you can hold your seat against the national trend we need people like you in parliament and not George Galloway and his far-left supporters.
Intent and purpose are routinely the basis of a criminal offence, you mention how, with respect to the 'daughter' with how the mother feels but not how the child feels. The idea that a parent who dictates to their child how their child must identify despite the likelihood of suicide there related is the victim when said child either of their own volition when they come of age, or with the assistance of the court and local authority, is the victim is palpable. The referral to social services does not happen on its own, there are people who are clearly concerned and I find it of great concern that you would rely on her own untested claims. The Henry VIII powers I do concede but these are a concerning problem in much legislation. It doesn't ever occur to these parents that these children might have realised they can come out at school as opposed to being convinced they are something, and many kids do kill themselves over it every day. The concern about overcriminalisation is of course an important one but one you seem not to find that in relation to abortion laws. You support the Safety of Rwanda Bill without the concern that creating a legal fiction to overcome a finding of fact might lead to unjust results. It seems you, in fact, just oppose supporting and protecting victims of conversion therapy which is known to cause severe trauma and leads to a disproportionate number of suicides.
