I’ve been reading a lot of negative reviews but what I’m realizing is that the side effects are all physical. I can deal with that. I’ll take cramps and periods over the feelings I had when I was on hormonal birth control. Everyone has been trying to convince me not to get it even thought I feel that it’s the best option for me. I’ve been off birth control for 4 years and don’t want to go back. Thanks for your honest review!
After seeing bazillion of negative reviews, this really made me feel like I could do that. Thanks for sharing your experience, your vibe definitely passed on to me :)
* bell tells a story about her mom * “I miss my mom ............ no I’m not gonna get emotional right now” * thinks * “no it’s okay I can get emotional, it’s okay” * takes a moment for herself * powerful moment, very healing. thanks for leaving that in.
Bell, your voice is so soothing. I love it! Also, thanks for making this follow up video as well as the first you made about this. I have the same IUD, and first got it in February 2015, but the horror stories almost made me not get it, but now four years later, I’m SO happy I got it. Godspeed to you chicka! 💜
Thank you for sending love and light, it's reflected back at you. Thank you for sharing so intimately and honestly. Blessings, prayers, and gratitude. 👍🏾👊🏾❤
I’ve had mine for 2 months and it’s been amazing so far I’m so glad I chose this method of bc. The side effects are nothing compared to the ones I got from hormonal bc
i’m so happy you’re enjoying yours as well! 🤍 i forgot to mention in this video that after i went off birth control pills, my acne got sooo bad and i’ve thankfully got it under control (naturally) but it took awhile.
Your videos helped motivate me to get the Paragard. I'm so grateful that my insertion wasn't bad at all. It was uncomfortable and felt weird, but definitely not the most pain I've endured. My ear piercings hurt more than that. Here's some advice that really helped me through the anxiety of insertion (which was the worst part of the experience): BREATHE. Rhythmic, deep breathing. Allow yourself to be in complete control of your experience. Listen to chill music during the procedure, take pain meds ahead of time, bring perfume/essential oil that relaxes you, bring snacks and water, and have someone you trust there with you. You can handle the discomfort/pain, I promise you. I hope your experience goes well!!!
I really really really really really really REALLY needed this video. I’m getting a copper IUD in a couple months and I’m so scared because all I’ve seen is horror stories Thank yuu
It’s very interesting to hear about someone else’s experience! For me the insertion wasn’t bad at all! 20 seconds of tolerable pain and absolutely no pain after! Thanks for sharing your positive experience. Most of the time people only share the bad things so I’m glad to see some positivity!
This video is amazing! Thank you for the positive review. Super scared to get mine as well… I hope it works out. Very worried about the million negative reviews. Thank you for sharing your story!
Thank you so much for making this video! I've been researching, reading and reading about other's experiences and obviously the terrible ones are the ones that fill every article and video about the IUD hahaha. I considered the copper IUD because I want a non hormonal method, but I'm really scared because although it only lasts 3 days, my period it's pretty bad and painful on it's own, but you engouraged me to do it (: I'm hoping for the best!
video starts at 0:48 and girl honest to god I only really loved your experience with respect to the IUD is the best I have heard on YT till now. I respect my period cycle as well and i want to keep getting my periods too irrespective to the IUD so I love that you mentioned the copper IUD all the other videos out there are so full of horror stories its nice to hear a good review every once in a while
I've always been away from any sort of "Invasive" contraception. For me it's just knowing my menstural cycles and condoms. Yes, maybe they're annoying, but I just want my body to stay completely natural. Copper iud sounds tempting, but again, not sure I'll want something sitting in my womb. Copper also modifies estrogen absorption, so despite being non hormonal I believe it does have effect on your body levels..this is just me, I'm glad that you are happy with it. The regulating effect you mentioned on your cycle I guess has to do with the peace of mind that gives you, so kind of a release of any stress that could lead to delays :)
This really made me feel better about getting one... I've heard some mixed reviews and getting pap smears already feel invasive for me, as well - so, hope my insertion and bodily reaction to it is just as great as yours!
Hey Bell! Thank you for your review. So many horror stories it was refreshing hearing a review that wasn’t scary. I believe if it’s going good people don’t do reviews which suck. What is cool... my name is Bella & everyone calls me Bell 🤣, I also miss my mama so much & I felt that girl but you did the right thing don’t deny those emotions & feeling. I did that for 5 years & cried every day for 5 years. Once I started allowing myself to feel those emotions I loss 80lbs, was able to take my overall healing to the next level, I stopped having miscarriages and had my first healthy pregnancy and finally during that healing my cycle also lined up with the moon 🌚 cycle which was cool Af. Peace ✌🏽 & Blessings to you! ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve been watching IUD reviews for like 9 hours straight and your video made me feel confident! Specially because of the little prayer hfkshd I’m getting it next month and hopefully everything will turn out ok 🙌🏼
@@daleenhanna31 I was very very nervous, and the insertion I must be honest, was quite painful. It gave me some cold sweats, but the actual really painful part only lasted a few seconds! So yeah, it was really bad but it was very quick
@@n.k.4481 hi! It’s been 6 months, every month I had periods that lasted about 18 days, last month it was delayed and I thought I was pregnant (I wasn’t) and now I’m hoping this month’s period will be more tame :,) I’ll give it a year to settle down, but if it doesn’t I’ll get it removed (pain wise, the cramps are tolerable now! But the first 2 months were very painful)
My period has always been aligned by the full moon cycle. We are apart of this planetary system for a reason. After getting the copper iud I have alot of the same feelings as you. Best decision ever.
Same! I actually read about this in a novel (tom Robbins-my fave writer actually). However I think mine is backwards lol. Like I have mine when the moon is full and I think that's supposed to be ovulation time?
So glad you mention about cramping before your period Because that’s exactly what’s happening with me, iv been getting bloating/cramps 1 week before my period c
Just got mine yesterday! I feel so liberated...and powerful, as you say. Thank you for this video, it really helped me making my decision for the copper IUD! God bless you
@@hermionesmith2250 The only thing I had was like "menstrual cramps" the 3 or four days after insertion. With advil it was like nothing...and had little spotting for about a week or two...but that's it. About one week later it was like nothing had happen! The difference : I'm child-proof and peace minded! Hehe!
@@rcosmic9993 oh wow that’s amazing, Iv always seen such bad reviews about it but to know not everyone has it bad is so helpful, let me know how it goes, I’m not quite excited to get mine done
@@hermionesmith2250 Don't worry, internet is often filled with the most exagerated reviews...yes, you'll feel a little pain but don't stress about it... I'm sure if it went well for me and many friends of mine, it will go well for you too! You'll feel soo free afterwards...seriously best decision I've made! I just suggest you to take 2 pills of ADVIL (not tylenol because it's not specifically made for inflammation relief like advil is) one hour before your appointment. Good luck and stay positive! There's nothing to worry about!💓
I used to have the copper IUD my cramps were really bad and and I had heavy periods too. So I switched to the mirena( hormonal) I dont have cramps but I've been spotting for 8 months now and I'm so over it I've gained 10 lbs and I feel emotional all the time, my skin is oily, I've been breaking out badly. I made a terrible choice switching to Mirena. Going back to the paragard!! You did a great choice! 🙌
The universe has sent me to your page Bell. I was almost giving up on birth control and was so stressed out about what to try next my body hates hormonal pills. I get the worse anxiety, muscle spasms 24/7 and depression on BC pills. I wanted a natural form of birth control and I never understood why so many women have horrible side effects with the copper IUD. I told myself to keep researching that there has to be at least ONE! person with a positive review and I finally found it on your page. Thank you for the positive energy. I hope that my body will except the Copoer IUD once I get it.
Like you the horror stories were scaring me about it so I actually prayed and was like send me a sign if I should get this and I feel like this video was my sign :) Thank you for sharing my appointment is next week 🤞love light and blessings to you :) x
I've had mine in for just about a month now and cramps are getting better. You are right about insertion it was honestly traumatising for me. I was NOT prepared for that I thought it was gonna be like a pap smear. I was hesitant at first (having something inside of me) but it's better than being on hormonal birth control. I was on the rod and depo and it gave me really bad acne. Only now though I have been bleeding after sex. Did that happen to you? I hope it goes away in time as my body gets used to it! I'm glad it worked out for you as I have also read the horror stories online!!
Dude I know this comment has no fucking relation to this video but I’m just looking for a friend bc im going through a horrible spot in my relationship and your videos just give me such good vibes so pls never stop
I have an appointment, and I almost canceled because of the bad things I heard, but this video made me feel like I can do it. Thanks for letting me know not to drive myself... would have been bad.
I was having painful periods already so I decided not to do it, I put my boyfriend on birth control instead. He takes neem daily with no side effects like I would have to suffer from if I took birth control.
@@alondram8772 it’s called neem. It’s an herb you can buy in pill form on Amazon. It takes about a month for it to take effect for a male, but then it makes the sperm inactive. He had to take it every day just like a woman would, but it will not effect his testosterone levels. If you want to get pregnant then he can stop taking it and it takes about a month for the sperm to reactivate. Just research “neem male birth control”
I have migraines so I can't have hormonal birth control with estrogen. So I'm on the depo shot again, which I absolutely HATE. I gained weight from it in high school and lost my period. So I thought maybe now that it's been 6 years later I'll try it again as I didn't want the Mirena IUD again or try the progesterone only pills. I gained weight mostly in my belly area! So irritating! So I'm really considering doing the copper IUD but like you I was hesitant because of the horror stories I've read about! So thank you for this video, doesn't hurt to try this one! I can always get it removed after testing for a year if I don't have the best experience.
Veronica so here’s my update: I was continuing to take the pill for the first month of also having the copper iud. Then the first time I got my period since the iud placement was when I stopped taking the pill. NOTE: I got my period again 10 days later BUT I think it’s because my body is already adjusting to no longer taking the pill every day.
Veronica on another note, the periods have been pretty manageable. I have a feeling I may have more sporadic periods in the future but am trusting my body is figuring it out. Listening to your body is so important!!
thank you so much for sharing your man could feel a little difference but it did go away, that's my biggest concern because my dude is soooooooooo against the IUD because of all the negative media out there. LOL the damn pharmaceutical companies are trying to fuck us over with hormones. LOOOVVEEDD this video , thanks sis.
Thank you for this, especially the part about being more connected with the moon. It could have something to do with the copper. I’m wondering about the spiritual effect of having a foreign object in your body. I’ve heard that if you have anything put in, or even taken out, it can disrupt the natural flow of energy through the meridians. Do you know anything about that??
Im glad it worked out for you. I had the paraguard back in 2003 when I was in my 20’s after my first baby. My OB doesn’t place them in single women or woman who haven’t a pregnancy. It worked fine for me and worked fine but I just bled too much to keep it in. So then I switched to a Mirena. Kept that for years off and on and then got my tubes removed when I done having kids. So now I’m done with birth control forever! Yay!
Hi there!! Female sex and empowerment coach here!! The alignment between the moon and menstrual cycles has been documented since the beginning of time!!! The moon cycle that you seem to be on is called the White Moon cycle (bleed on the full moon and ovulate on the new moon) and it’s the most common moon cycle. It’s an incredibly powerful and enlightening time as a womb bearing person. Thank you so much for making this video! I am getting my copper IUD on Monday and I am so grateful to have found this. Much love!
@@AT-bl8fe I got off the pill, I had awful mood swings, anxiety, and loads of sad waves overpowering my days. I got weight gain. It got to the point where It wasn’t worth it.
@@ailynntrevino oh my... i feel those symptoms too on the pill to some extent but not to a point where I would just stop. Sorry to hear that! Let me know if the IUD worked out for you
Just watching this now and I am planning to have the IUD because I am too on birth control (the pill) and I'm just sick of having hormones put into me! So thank you for this video xxx
Watching this give me so much hope lol. All of the RU-vid videos regarding the copper IUD are negative experiences for the most part. I just got of of the implant Nexplanon and am noticing my natural cycles again. I just questioned my doctor for about 30 minutes straight about my decision to get the iud and I have an appointment next week to get it inserted. So excited and I really hope it works for me
I got mine inserted today. And ofc everyone’s experience is different. So far the only pain was when my obgyn had to measure my cervix other than that. Just a big cramp for like 3 seconds. I took an Advil 30 min before my appointment. The whole process takes less than 5 min. So far I feel great.
You mentioned that you had painful periods before getting the IUD. I've been warned that if that's the case you shouldn't get a copper IUD because of it making them more painful... have you found the pain manageable? I really want to get one but am scared because I already struggle with painful periods so I don't want to make them worse! BTW thank you for the video 😇
Hey girl! The pill will stop ovulation so you’re probably not used to cramping during the time of ovulation which is probably those cramps you feel a week before your period! I get them too
You don't ovulate a week before your period... you ovulate a week after your period. And it's normal to feel ovarian pain during ovulation but cramps randomly during your cycle are not. I have a copper iud and it already sent me once to the ER in terrible pain. Yesterday I felt it again, after a year. So I will let it be checked, it can move or your body can actually reject it.
I just got the iud last week and it didn’t hurt with insertion. I bled for about 4/5 days and I’ve cramped on and off since but just mild cramping. So far I like it and the experience getting it done wasn’t bad. I’ve had two children before so modesty goes out the window😂
I had mine inserted yesterday. The pain after my insertion was immense and made me throw up. After I threw up and rested I felt much better. This morning I feel the same as yesterday, I have to take medication. I hope I don’t experience this everyday. I’ll give it two months and see if I get better.
getting mine tomorrow at 1:50pm please wish me luck. I’m so nervous! I’m super allergic to latex, I have tried the patch and got hives, the depo shot I had not so good side affects. The ring caused so many issues! The pill helped but I gained a lot of weight, so I finally am going to get one, so scared 🥺
i was off the pill for probably 3-4 months. which i don’t recommend if you’re sexually active but for me it was fine. my skin broke out a lot when i went off the pill, but that’s the only side effect i had from getting off it. now my skin is better :)
I had my insertion 2 weeks ago . I also read a lot of negative reviews but I was determined to get it . I actually tried pushing the date forward instead of postponing it like most people . Yes , I did feel pain no lie . It was an 8 .But since I decided not to dwell on it , I didn’t think of the possibility of taking it out . My boyfriend was very scared for me but supportive . The pain lasted about a week . It subsided with each passing day . I’m waiting for my first period after that since they said it will be painful. Shoot me a reply if you’d like to know how my first period goes once I have it . Honestly , I’d it’s anything like the procedure and aftermath , then I’d be fine with it .
Hi! Thank you fir sharing. I got mine two days away and I’m petrified to get my first period on it. Last time I had super bad cramps and heavy flow I was in high school. Since then my period has gotten lighter but now that I got the copper I’m scared lol. So if you could please lmk how ur first cycle on it goes that would be great and id appreciate it v much
@@Hiimpaul96 Hey! My period wasn’t that bad to be honest . It was better than I thought from all the scare I’ve been getting from research and RU-vid . My first period on copper iud was the first time I’ve ever been able to workout on the first of my period and I’m telling you I’ve had pretty bad cramps since I started I started having my menses 12 years ago were I had to pick up from school by my mom . I might create a detailed video about my experience and how I coped and combatted the pain . I will post a link if I do.
@@s.t.e.l2140 thank you so much for the update! I should be getting mine next week and my body is already cramping on and off. My cycles were so heavy when I was younger and now that I’m older they’ve gotten lighter and the cramps are bearable for once in my Life so now I fear that this Copper IUD will make me feel my pains from years and year ago which I’m not ready for. Like you, I’d always have to get picked up from school. I’m hoping that it’s not too bad and not too heavy. But please make the detailed video! It’ll deff help me and others too. Thank you!
I have been afraid of going for IUD because I have heard that it might be dangerous to use the menstrual cup while you have IUD. I just can't stand any other period product and i love my cup 😓
i use a menstrual cup! and haven't had any issue. there's actually very little evidence that shows a menstrual cup can interfere with an IUD. the suction isn't that strong u know ?
im gettng my nexplanon out today and im like super excited to get my period so i feeeeeeel you but thank you for posting you made me less scared of the copper iud which i might get... or i just might make hm stop nutting insdie me we'll see
It gives u a horrible old copper smell that didn’t go away til I got rid of it it was super embarrassing this is the one side effect that not everyone gets but no one talks about 🤕
Can you have like rough sex? I am getting this put in In two weeks and I’m scared I am going to have so many negative side affects but I’m over the hormones I have been on the pill for 10 years
Not trying to dismiss people's reactions to this type of IUD, but their experiences are anecdotal and unfortunately they had misfortune of having these relatively rarer side effects :/ Also, in Europe there are differently sized copper IUDs on the market while in the US afaik only Paraguard is used and that size is recommended for women who have already given birth. So here in Europe they pick the right IUD for you sizewise and therefore you're less likely to get those side effects.
Well the part of the size is true, I indeed choose for the smaller one but that doesn't mean you won't have any side effect. I myself have been experiencing excruciating pelvic pain at times and all I hear is that my iud is in place so yeah. Our bodies are all very different, some people really don't suffer from any side effect while others can have some trouble. We just need to listen to our bodies.
I’ve been on birth control pills for a year now &’ I’ve had the worst experience ever i gained weight I had mood swings really bad most of the time was always in a bad mood &’ before I had gone on birth control pills I was never like this I was a ball of sunshine .. I got off birth control pills a week ago &’ have been considering IUD but I wanted something non hormonal An considering copper but really nervous about it
Bonnie Lee soo I finally went today to the planned parenthood because very thing was close due to covid &’ let me tell you it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was like small period cramps but when she was measuring me I only reacted 5 inches &’ she did she needed more &’ kept trying &’ trying ( poking motion ) that was probably the worst but now I have to go with another doctor so I can “ Dilate “ all the way to make it easier for them really debating weather to go back tho she kinda got me when she kept poking over &’ over again I don’t wanna go back it hurt really bad I can only imagine how bad it must feel to get the iud if you can find a doctor to Sedate you please do it ..
I know you said your partner doesn’t really feel it. But does it cause any irritation to you while doing intercourse. Do you feel it at all or does it feel normal ? I’m very sensitive down there and I’m really scared I’ll be able to feel it even sitting down. I can’t put a tampon in bc I have a tilted uterus and any sort of insertion hurts like crazy. Could you sit normally after the insertion ? Sorry if the questions are intrusive but if you can and feel comfortable I would really appreciate your input. Thank you 😊
usually if you can feel it, you should talk to your doctor about it. usually the strings are either cut too short or not cut long enough, it just depends on you. same with irritation during sex, that shouldn't happen either. the strings soften up over time too so
If your uterus is tilted have a good talk with your gynecologist, it may be of importance. My mother in law also has it and she tried the copper iud and she felt it throughout the whole time, was painful and she ended up getting it removed. Nothing serious just a bit uncomfortable.
Do you have bleeding? Im 9 months in with my Copper IUD. There would be sporadic bleeding in between and cramps but recently I bled like period bleeding. Is that normal?
It is indeed possible to have spotting and cramps until your body adjusts but I would let it be checked. A lot of bleeding may be a sign it moved or maybe your body is having it a little harder. I have mine for a year now and bleeding is now normal but I suffer from cramps randomly and 2 times I had really sharp and absolutely horrible pain, even had to go to the ER. I will be going for a check just to be sure my body is doing well. Listen to your body, if you feel something is wrong is because it is.
Did any of you had brownish discharge after sex or having somthing in you I have mine for 2 weeks and last night i went to check the string it was fine but in the morning i had some brown gel like discharg
Can your partner feel the strings during sex? I know this is TMI but one of my friends had told me there boyfriend could and I felt bad for the man lmaooo
I don't think it's painful, it's just uncomfortable, maybe it's because you haven't had a baby, or anything painful 😅 that's why you think it's painful
