real talk though, I rewatched Material Girls the other day, and like, it's awful but Haylie Duff was the most competent actress on set and could've pursued it further. I was a huge Hilary Duff fan as a kid but watching this stuff as an adult, it's kinda sad Haylie never got much recognition in acting when she was clearly the better actor imo. also, nobody asked but having never watched Cow Belles until this year, I gotta say even with a smaller budget and it being a DCOM, it reigns superior with the whole "spoiled sisters going from riches-to-rags" thing. Aly&AJ have that authenticity. I wonder if MG got some of its inspiration from this one or if it was just a coincidence?

OMG! Fun fact: Their “maid” is played by Canadian actress Jean Yoon, who is now starring in a major Canadian comedy TV show based on a play called Kim’s Convenience, which revolves around the lives of a Korean immigrant family and the second generation son and daughter. It’s so cool!

@@OpqHMg they are talking about hair that has been curled artificially - not naturally curly hair. thats a different story lol. its clear whoever curled their hair, didnt put much effort into the styling of them so they look hard and crispy, like too much hairspray almost. a gentle hair brushing could have made wonders in their case lol.

@@phucanhell Oh wow, I just watched an interview and I cannot detect an accent at all! I always thought her accent on the show was fake sounding since none of my Korean relatives sound like her; but I just assumed it was a Canadian and Korean accent mixture. But she was born in Illinois.

Speaking as someone who worked in a packing plant: putting the lids on tubs while they’re in motion on a belt is ROUGH. I had to lid tubs of squash and ended up giving my hand a repetitive motion strain after doing the job alone for the whole day. It was rough. I couldn’t use my hand properly for the next week after that but when I told first aide about it after the shift they did fix the layout on that belt so no one was doing that job alone anymore - so no one else ended up getting hurt like that.

I always thought the adults were ridiculous in this movie. The girls try to help and all they can do is bitch and moan about it. Of all the DCOMs this is the one where the adults were too much for me and so unrealistic.

I just realized that the guy holding the pig that’s Alys, “friendememy” grows to be Tyler on the Vampire Diaries. At least I think so looks just like him but younger.just checked and yes Michael Travino is totally Tyler Lockwood and this guy in cowbells. How awesome 😎

A childhood friend of mine and I watched this movie the night it came out & I distinctly remember writing multiple journal entries about it AND drawing the "fashions" while we watched it. Every time it played on Disney, I watched it with the volume up super loud, and would shush my family if they tried to talk over it. Cow Belles used to get me SO hype for absolutely no reason.

I’ve seen a cow birth. It was a incredible. The baby came out legs first and was stuck and the mom Tuffie was suffering and both were gonna die until ACTUAL COWBOYS WITH LASSOES came riding over the hill and lassoes the baby and yanked it out! The calf was named Miracle for surviving.
