Cozy, campy movies for all ages that you MUST WATCH this Halloween season 

I can't believe that I have been sleeping on Casper all these years! I feel like Hocus Pocus gets all the Halloween movie love but Casper has so much heart and deals with such serious topics in a beautiful way!!! 🥰🥰

YES! The neautral Hocus Pocus club is in the house 😅 Speaking of movies we were “meh” on, I just finished listening to the latest episode of Horror Homeroom re: Talk to Me and I definitely agreed with you about not really caring for it. On the outset of listening to the episode, I couldn’t really articulate why I didn’t connect with the film beyond just finding the MC to be so fusteratingly annoying in her grief (which led to so many selfish choices). And I’m someone who had dealt with a parent passing but I just was so annoyed with them to enjoy the movie so half way through I gave up rooting for them to survive 😅. As I continued listening, you and your co-hosts deconstruction of the movie really helped me see that I just didn’t find anything all that new or fresh. I watched it waaaay after it came out and the hype was so high that my experience totally was a let down as I watched it. I always get so happy when I see a new podcast episode and wanted to share my thoughts with you!! 👻

I don't think I connected that fully but I think that really ties into my issues with the film. Having just come out of a home hospice experience this summer, I absolutely think that the annoyance you mention was a factor for me. I'm always down to chat about movies or books! And our next episode should be about The Exorcist and your read-a-long definitely has informed my views on that 😈

I am absolutely obsessed with Casper now - what a total GEM that I have been missing out on. I remember absolutely LOVING the Hilary duff one and I think I need for revisit it soon but I think I have seen that one a little more recently, like in middle school when I was in my Hilary duff era 🤣🤣

Yesss! Albeit much later haha I think it's my fave subgenre. In a similar vein, Raw instantly became a fave of all time when it came out.

I have only seen the first Halloween movie and the three recent additions to the franchise but none of the sequels to the first film, which I think will definitely be a project for next October! Thank you so much for reminding me!
