Great video, ... I adapted the cable for the Z switch to add the touch sensor, and then split 3 separate female pins to connect the pins to the Creality V2.2 board and it works perfect for the CR 10-S5 as well :D The diagram you presented on this video was the best documentation in the whole internet, it took me 3 weeks to get this working! Thanks!

Hi, how did you adapt the Z cable? Do you run both the end switch and the sensor in to the same plug on the motherboard? Just got my s5 and installing, but my colors are different so not really sure how to connect the sensor

Just FYI People, The black and white wires at 6:!5 are CRITICAL. Mine brought a harness that had black and white reversed on the connector. Easy enough to change by popping the pins out. If this connection is wrong it will just ram th the probe into the Bed and never sense the bed. When it is correct, the probe will stop the z motion and retract the probe.

I do a bit of Arduino coding, and discovered I also needed to install the board library for the 2560 series boards, and also the U8glib library for the TFT screen support. Other than that, great instructional video thanks!

I had to enable the Safe Z homing functionality in configuration.h to be able to home using the Bltouch since Z switch is disconnected and the Bltouch is outside of bed when doing homing. safe Z homing will home Z in center of bed.

Thanks for the great tutorial. I am going to attempt this on my CR10S. Is there a particular BLTouch I should stay away from or is any BLTouch workable for this? Also, I have had my CR10S for about 5 years and want to replace the aluminum bed and PEI sheet for it. Do you recommend any particular model for this? Thanks again. Thanks again. You did not remove the z end stop switch? In your custom marlin can you adjust the z stop to less than zero? since in some config it cant go beyond zero with the knob.

Thanks for this info. At 4:18 I'm pretty sure you meant to say the sensor should be 2mm lower than the nozzle, otherwise the nozzle will hit the build plate before the BLTouch gets a signal. Also at 9:12, it reads "emulates" a servo, meaning that it acts similarly to a servo.

Nope, he got it correct. When retracted and you're setting the probe, it should be above the nozzle. It will retract when homing...just like it shows in the video.

So this got me going better than I expected but these videos need more warnings. Luckily, a friend did his before me and warned me about crashing the nozzle. It would've happened too because 1 thing I need to do is change my probe offset.

In one of your previous videos “Cr-10S Marlin Firmware upgrade. Walking you through the important parts.” you changed your (line 294) “Temp_sensor_bed from 0 to 5. When I was revising the code after I compiled the code based on the ... part 4 video, the “Temp_sensor_bed is set up at 1. Should I leave it at 1 for the bl touch or switch it to 5? Thanks

since the black and white cables are replacing the stock Z- slot. where should i plug the stock z- cable to? i tried to leave it hanging like in the video but when i do an auto home, the printer doesnt know when to stop lowering down the Z axis.

For those who wonder why your printer is not homing to center the way his printer does, find #define Z_SAFE_HOMING in your Configuration.h and uncomment it (probably line 1142). You can read what does it do right under it. Also you can setup your probe off set (the location adjustment relative to your nozzle) find #define X_PROBE_OFFSET_FROM_EXTRUDER line and adjust X and Y, it explains how you should do it right on the same line.

Total frustration.... followed this guide as well as a few others and can’t get it to work. 1 followed settings in this tutorial 2 enabled Z safe homing 3 set my X Y and base Z offsets from the extruder If I disable the steppers and move X all the way left and Y all the way to the rear and do auto home from the menu it bounces X and Y and goes to center - YAY!!!! If I try to home just XY from octoprint it starts to home but then gets a “ homing failed printer halted” error. If XY are homed and I try to auto level it does it’s three checks on the front from left to right, moves back a row does the first check but when moving left to the middle check “jerks”, checks, then moves back a row and starts checking from there (as if it had moved all the way to the left edge of the plate) and then when moving right it’s now stripping the belt as it’s trying to to do a check off the damn plate. If it is homed to the center and then hit auto home again it then moves the back right corner. WTF am I doing wrong?

Great video. The best so far for installing the BLTouch. I'm going to purchase the BLTouch for my CR-10 S5, but could you just help me out in this one question, please. When installing the BLTouch physically, do you have it's pointer fully extended about 2mm below the nozzle or have the BLTouch pointer in the raised position 2mm below the nozzle, as it seems to look in the video. Your PCB diagram is very well done. Thanks for that. Again, great video and all the best.

HELP! Hey, super nice and detailed video. thanks for that! although I ran into some problems, maybe you can help me out here. I tried to run this after that, but it seems my BLTOUCH servo motor work, but the bed touching sensing, simply not working, I tried reconnecting my hard switch (the CR10 original switch) and saw that it identifies correctly, i.e. the pin was configured correctly. PLEASE! any suggestion. I opened a Reddit on it if interesting.

Anyone do this set up on a CR-10 S5? If so, what did you put as the bed size? I set the bed size to 500, 500, 500 but when I run the bed leveling the extruder goes to far forward and off the bed. Thanks

Don't have the sensor yet but had upgraded the firmware for other reasons already. I had no issues with my hotend going off the bed with a 500x500 bedsize? I did however increase MIN_PROBE_EDGE to 60 so my bed probing wouldn't interfere with my bed clips.

Didn't you say at the beginning that you would run a print after the install? Also, why would it be necessary to run this before every print? Seems like a lot of time for something that you should only need to run every 10 or 15 prints, no?

I have different colored wires than you show at 6:13. Mine are Blue, Yellow (orange) and Red. This is a V4 BLTouch. Is the blue wire the one that was brown on your model? The Black and White are the same, so no issue there. Also if others got a unit that has all 3 wires connected to a single connector, you can disconnect them from it by pulling up the little tabs, and replace each one with a female Arduino wire connector.

This worked great but it flashed the firmware on my S5 with the 300 so now it thinks it only 300x300. What did I do wrong and how can I fix it? I'm sure it is something easy but this is my first time doing this.

after clicking on config there will be one file in there. click on it. A pop up should come up saying you dont have the software to open it. it will take you to the windows store to download one. after that open it. there should be a link in it. copy and past it into google. it will automatically start downloading the config files

I have the 2.2 board in my CR-10 S5 and the Colors I have on my bltouch wiring is Black white yellow red blue V1... My Bl touch extends and sucks back up when it touches but it doesn't stop the print head from moving and smashes into the print surface What am I doing wrong?

switch the black/white wires. They are incorrect. Will need a pick or something to switch them out

Would I be ok to do this on my CR10s5? It is NOT a Creality but rather a generic version that I bought on Amazon a few years ago. It's a 12v version. A label on its side says it has Marlin (don't know which version, maybe you can tell me how to see the version) and that's all I know. I am an E.E. and computer savvy but this is not my hobby but rather a tool I use for my RC models to make structural parts.

#yearofthemaker I just purchased this as my second printer Unfortunately it will not be here until the 28th of December My first printer is kind of a I built it myself out of parts I ordered off of AliExpress It basically has the same specs as the Ender 3 with a better motherboard from BTT SKR 1.3 trinamic tmc2130 stepper motor drivers And a few other bells and whistles I've done Thanks for your channel it seems to be very useful 😊

So I don't know if this is active anymore but I'm really at the end here... I followed this guide and in the start tried to use the latest marlin but I got a lot of errors while compiling so I used the same version as you did and that worked but my bl touch just slams into my bed every I try to auto home or do a thing with the step by step of the units bed leveling (when I turn it on all I here is a sound) I tried making the z axis higher and pushing the bl touch with my finger and it worked but it isn't stopping when it slams into my bed can you or anyone please help?

@@eranhp Ok so I fixed mine like 30 mins ago! The stupid wire for the Z is connected backwards! The white wire should be where the black wire is. I have 2 printers and it works on both now! If you still have your bltouch around try doing that.

Thank you, both are cr-10s but now I'm having problems with firmware updates. What a mess. Thanks for the video. You make it look so simple. I followed your steps exactly and received the same errors. However, when I made the same corrections, and then recompiled, I now receive the following error: @ LINE 1127 in Sanity Check "HEATER_0_PIN not defined for this board." I downloaded the same version of Marlin (010109) that you used and copied the four files from the ..\Examples\Creality\CR-10S into the \Marlin directory. Under "Tools" the "Arduion/Genuiono Mega or Mega 2560" is selected for "Board:" and "ATmega2560 (Mega2560)" is selected for "Processor:". My CR-10s board version 2.1. I tried it again, but this time, after copying the four files from the .\Examples\Creality\CR-10S directory, I did a compile without making any of the changes for the BLtouch sensor and received the same "HEATER_0_PIN not defined for this board." message. So for some reason the Marlin 010109 example files aren't right for my board? I must be doing something fundamentally wrong, but the process of using the predefined Marlin examples seem so straight forward, I don't know what it is. Previously, I have successfully installed the TH3D firmware for the CR-10S and it works great, but doesn't support the BLtouch sensor. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
