Creative Ways to Gift Amaryllis Bulbs 

Here are 3 creative ways to gift amaryllis bulbs this holiday season!
Amaryllis Flowerpot: Paint a 6” terracotta rose pot and 7” saucer a festive holiday color. After the paint has dried, fill the pot halfway with dry potting mix and place a dormant amaryllis bulb in the center. Use additional soil to fill in around the bulb leaving the top third of the bulb exposed. Then top dress the soil with moss, stones, or small pinecones.
Next, wrap your present by inverting the saucer and placing it on top of the pot. Then tie a ribbon around the pot and saucer. Keep the pot dry until gift-giving time so the amaryllis doesn’t break dormancy inside its wrapping. When your recipient receives their flowerpot gift, they can flip the saucer to the bottom of the pot, place their present in a warm bright location, add water, and watch the amaryllis grow!
Amaryllis houseplant garden: Start by planting a few amaryllis bulbs in the center of a container and fill in around with the bulbs with houseplants. Consider adding a few blooming houseplants so that your recipient receives two waves of holiday flowers. Your recipient will enjoy the immediate gratification of new houseplants until the amaryllis emerges and makes the design even more spectacular!
Moss wrapped amaryllis bulb: For this project, choose an early blooming amaryllis variety and wrap it in sheet moss leaving the top of the bulb open so it can grow. Then wrap twine all around the ball in different directions. If you want to hang your moss amaryllis leave long tails of twine, or if you plan to display it on a flat surface cut the twine and knot it onto itself. To care for a moss wrapped amaryllis, place it in a bright warm location and water it once a week by submerging only the base of the moss ball in a shallow bowl of water. Allow it to thoroughly drip dry before placing it back on display. In about 4-6 weeks you’ll have a gorgeous amaryllis to enjoy that can be placed just about anywhere.
