To Uber: We don't want your free therapy sessions, what we want is to feel safe and not be harassed when we get a ride with your company from non-creep drivers!! If someone has to have THERAPY after using your service then you're doing it WRONG. So insulting.
As was mentioned at the end of the video, that creepy Uber driver was most likely fired so he won't be harassing any more women thankfully. So glad she reported him to Uber!
@@Atrus999 A business that provides transportation doesn't have a need for that type of service unless this happens a lot. I could understand free Uber fare and fire the guy. So yes, it was astounding.
Adding the ability to choose a man or woman driver would attract creepers in the opposite direction. You would have men scheduling long rides with women specifically to trap them in the car with them for extended periods of time.
@@5und43 through Lyft you can request a female driver. I also drive for a rideshare company who vets all drivers and riders can request specific drivers if they want.
What we wear has less to do with being harassed and most to do with this creepy mentality. I have been cat called while being covered from head to toe. Creeps are creeps. Sucks
I admire how she handled this. He was a total creep and appears unhinged; so who knows what he could’ve done to her. Glad she’s safe & this went viral.
Grounds for permanent deactivation but I would’ve canceled the trip midway in a safe area after getting some evidence recorded. No way would I allow him to drop me off at my home! Also, not to be stereotypical but this shit happens far too often in my city with drivers from India and the Middle East. Listen to his accent!!!! I have female riders tell me this ALL THE TIME!!
@@josephinemiller4780 you’re being stereotypical and biased. I’ve had many decent kind Indian male drivers and several creepy whyte and blak drivers. There are creepy men of all ethnicities!!!
@@josephinemiller4780 you’re definitely being stereotypical and biased. I’ve had many decent kind Indian male drivers and several creepy whyte and blak drivers. Learn to be a better person and grow up!
@@josephinemiller4780 you’re being stereotypical and biased. As a single female rider who frequently uses Uber and Lyft, I’ve met many decent respectful Indian male drivers
I’m a dude so I never had to deal with this. But man I feel for women who ride these alone. I heard there was a few instances of Ubers driving to places that were nowhere near the destinations. Creepy.
I'm lucky I've never had a creepy driver but it doesn't stop me from getting nervous when I use the service. But I use a different kind of transportation service for my doctor appointments that are hired by my insurance company and I did have a creep once. He kept talking about s*x and telling stories of how he's hooked up with women he drove before. I told him he needs tinder for hookups because it's absolutely not happening with me! 🤢
They had a parody of a driver picking up a woman n he was on the phone n she overheard his convo saying he had another one n was on the way... she first noticed that he wasn't going where he was supposed to... she reached into her purse n pulled out a pistol n held it to his head... she was screaming at him. It was funny... 😂😂😂 if I have to travel anywhere I drive kuz I'm not yet sure how to legally n lawfully bring my firearm n knives on a plane... I know I gta put them in checked luggage. N I'm gna eventually have to buy a lockbox. But until then, I'll drive myself... 😊👍🏾
Word, I feel bad for the ladies, I can't imagine what it's like to feel vulnerable alot. Women deserve respect fellas, each one is someone's daughter, sister or mom. Don't be a dick.
The thing is when a guy is creepy it is threatening because you don’t know what they are capable of physically and whether ignoring them will get them to a point of violence.
@@beloved-childthey are referring to him saying- “I’ll find you.” Cause he’s got a special set of skills. But actually the app probably just gave him her address so it’s not quite the same skills.
"They're gonna take you now!" "Pesticides? This is water you crazy woman!" "I have a certain set of skills" "They're gonna take ME now!" "The ability to speak does not make you intelligent" "They're gonna take all of us now!"
Had a driver that started out fine the first five rides (city discounted transport service). He was driving me home & started asking questions in this very order: How was work? Your store losing business due to the new place across the street? How much is the apartments you live at? One or two bedroom? Do you live alone? Do you drive? Have any siblings? How old are you? You have a boyfriend? You look fine? Are you a virgin? He's asking this while driving, turning his head to look at me every stop/light smiling!! I only answered the questions to distract him as he got closer to home; as he pulled up to my apartment building he asks..."You live upstairs or downstairs?" I ignored him & jumped out. Called the city ride hotline & asked the lady if I could make a complaint/concern; the moment the virgin question came, she asked for all info & told me to stay inside. Got calls/texts from the head manager later & the heathen got fired!!!
There's nothing more frightening than being a woman trapped in the car with a man behind the wheel and him pulling some out of pocket shit. It really does feel like you're being kidnapped. Poor girl. And the fact that she's only 19 and she said she's already been through worse. Men need to work on themselves, seriously.
I was in similar scary or threatening situations several times when I was a young woman. Most women confront this at least once in their lives and have no idea how to handle it. We need to teach our girls to be prepared and what to do when this happens.
Yeah, I get it, all men are evil and women never, ever do anything bad. And you wonder with that attitude why you can't get a man and live with 32 cats. 🙄
It happened when I drove Uber as well. Being in a car with a drunk passenger suggesting disgusting things wasn't fun. After that one, I stopped driving after midnight, then eventually switched to just delivery
I had an uber driver be creepy to me on my way to work. He first started asking me if I had a bf (which yes) then started asking me if my bf let's me see and talk to other guys, then says I am cute and right after ask what HIGH SCHOOL GRADE I AM IN!!! I tell him um no tf I am a woman in my 20s not a child and he was surprised and still was being creepy of course But the fckin fact this guy thought I was a child and was hitting on me was disturbing. I had so much anxiety because he knew where I lived and worked now so I told my bosses when I got to work and they got me to file a police report
I'm a dude and that shit pisses me off, women and kids should be free to move around without harassment. That's legitimately fucking scary and sick🤮🤮. I hope that dude gets fired. Sorry you had to deal with that. It's NOT ok.
I started wearing a fake engagement ring and wedding band. It went from EVERY male driver to 1/10 being creepy. 😅 So far, they have all given up after I mentioned a husband, but I know there's gonna be that one at some point that won't quit... 😔 Saying you have a boyfriend doesn't work anymore, you need the finality of a marriage AND a back story on hand to back it up. 😢
Yeah, it’s sad that men only stop harassing us if they deem us as another man’s possession. They respect the other man and back off but not out of respect for us.
Listening to this guy totally creeped me out. Being SAed and watching this poor girl go through what she's going through is making my heart pound. I have PTSD and found myself being so frightened for her. I'm glad she made it okay. I'm sure Uber fired this f****** shitbag. I'm wondering how many times he did this?
Don't count on Uber firing him, at least not right away. They tend to ignore situations like this until something horrible happens. They love to remind people that the drivers are sub contractors, not employees to distance themselves from the fallout.
@@slate613 nope! I’ve been driving full time for almost 7 yrs and as the saying goes “the customer (rider) is always right”. Still true to this day with riders. I’ve been deactivated 3 times for false allegations. They deactivate you ASAP with no warning and no explanation! I got to plead my case all 3 times and was reactivated. What they should’ve done was gotten my side of the story as well and not deactivate me causing me to not be able to make money for an undetermined amount of time. Hear both sides, get proof, then decide who gets banned from the app.
My creepy Uber driver offered me a ride home after my shift for free so that means not using the app I had to tell him "no my mom will be picking me up", I'm so happy I can drive myself now that ride is something I'll never forget he was guessing my weight and how much he liked women my size I was around 140 at the time
I used to be a driver for Uber & lyft, I've had some really creepy passengers & iffy situations, as soon as i was able to find another gig job I quit being a driver for them. The little money they pay isn't worth not being safe. They used to pay really well, back in the beginning which was why I started but they kept cutting the driver's cut & situations got worse. I'd never drive for them now. Now I work with Amazon, delivering packages. Good pay & you don't have nearly as many unsafe situations. The only risks I still have to worry bout are people's dog's being out or people trying to steal your car/packages, but there are precautions you can take for those risks, Uber, not so much.
As a woman I’ve had guys yell at me why I never yelled and berated someone who did this to me and honestly it depends on the situation. If it’s in a car or at work or somewhere I can’t get out of I’m just nice so they don’t escalate and potentially follow me or get angry. If I can get away then I will be rude
Happens constantly when I take cabs or Uber. Very intrusive questions about me, my family and who lives where and worse. Not judging this lady - she handled herself very well - but I am much more aggressive cause I’m so sick of it.
drivers cop it worse, i never drover Uber but my female 40yr old friend did and she was assaulted twice in 3 months, a man tried SA'ing her and 3 girls tried to jump her...never got any compensation from Uber despite police reports.
I thought he was asking her if she (they) can smoke weed at her house even though she lives with her grandma... Do you know if an uncut version was posted anywhere?
I had a lyft driver like this, and it was so uncomfortable. He kept telling me about all the women that he was sleeping with and that passengers are always drawn to him because of his personality and good looks (spoiler...he WAS NOT GOOD LOOKING and his personality was giving me stalker vibes.) I could not wait to get the hell out of his car. The only reason I did not report him is because he dropped me off at my house (which I told him was my Brother's) and did not want him coming back around after a bad review.
Not in an Uber, but outside my friend's old apartment building last summer. I was going to visit him when I was stopped by a man who was much older than me. He kept commenting on how beautiful he thought I was and that he wanted to get to know me. I think he even suggested I get in his car with him despite telling him I was going to visit my friend (if I remember right). I did end up exchanging phone numbers with him, but only because I feared he lived in the area, and immediately blocked it as soon as I got to my friend's. Looking back on it? I honestly think he may have been trying to traffic me because he wouldn't shut up about my looks, but I can't say for sure.
My go to for strangers complimenting my looks was, "Thank you, my husband thinks so too!" That usually puts an end to any further commentary, except for one guy that got offended by me saying that, to which I just kept walking away.
Smh I had a mover do this to me. Luckily I ended up leaving the apartments they helped me to shortly after. It’s very uncomfortable feeling like a sitting duck in your own home
I’m shook: one time in London when I was younger (18), I went with my grandma. In that time, a man propositioned me and my grandmother to a three way, to which we both declined after drinking his entire bottle of fancy wine.
I remember as a kid, back then there's no uber/grab etc, we hailed a normal cab. The driver is very talkative, but I don't like making small talks so i was quiet, so he and my teenage sis was chatting. He looked at his rear mirror and was eager to talk to me, asked me why i was quiet and what's my name. (He was too friendly and ask alot of ques) After that, he said that he was a nice guy, if not he would've drove us to somewhere dangerous and sold us there. I was really uncomfortable and should've reported him but i was young and just want to get out of there.
The one time I took an Uber, he was kinda weird and asking many questions about where I was going and all..the thing is, he thought I was 16 ALWAYS say you are taken and have someone waiting for you, always
This is why my parents won’t let me use ride services at 19 I don’t drive yet so my choices are have my parents,a family member or trusted friend , or i can walk within reason to get to my destination. I also don’t go anywhere alone I always go with someone it’s simply precautionary it’s a scary world out there
Now that is an epic display of emotional fitness and de escalation tactics on her part, she absolutely did everything right when it comes to keeping the situation calm, great job.
Guy looking for a 3 way, that's what doublelist is for. I have a friend that does DD and he has 11 felonies 9 of those are first degree. In his defense he is a very good DD driver with over 1800 deliveries in less than a year and a rating of 4.98. He is also near 50 and a decent guy. None of his crimes were violent or against women.
Funny story... I used to ride LYFT to the gas station to buy dutch cigars. I had the same driver a few days in a row. One day, out of nowhere, he says "Im gonna take you home with me," and follows up with a really creepy stare. A little off-put, confused and a bit mad I said "EXCUSE ME?" He says "Home. To Morocco. Worlds finest hash. You like? We go together." It took me a minute. I looked at him, looked at the blunt I was about to roll and was like..." ooooooh, ok. Gotya." In my head I was like, maybe you shouldve started with that. Some dudes mightve knocked him out for saying that to them. 😅😂😂
And I think white Western women are extremely whorish because the difference in clothing and the TV shows they see. They actually believe that if you just asked a white woman to sleep with you that she will be ready😂 Awful
Exactly. And yet people will call you racist for pointing out the obvious fact that letting men from wildly sexist countries immigrate to our countries is going to make us less safe, and that these men will target us!
There's the first problem 19 years old you don't ever give anybody personal information especially to an Uber driver. Also I would have just recorded a little bit of it and then requested him to pull over and get out of the car. And don't call the company get a lawyer and sue.
Dude is weird. I’m sure his account got deactivated. I’ve really only had 2 bad experiences with Uber. The first was during Covid when a dude had a sheet of plastic separating the back and the front and no air was coming to the back. The second was the dude’s car reeking of cigarette smoke. I consider myself blessed. Poor girl
I don’t have a huge circle of women that I communicate with but the younger ones (under 35) tell me that getting hit it during an Uber ride is a regular occurrence.😳
She continued and laugh , "yes", "will do that", "not tonight", for too long, as a woman will shut him up immediately, no laugh at "I love you", NO WOMAN! Cut the crap and ....be silent, no emotion, no engagement. Works every time.
Wow! I'm my opinion, offering someone three free therapy sessions after dealing with harassment like that speaks VOLUMES of Ubers shadiness. That's ridiculous! Uber, how about you SCREEN & find RESPECTFUL employees so you don't have to offer free therapy sessions!!
I could be wrong but hearing the accent, I think maybe an Indian man. Any conversations I’ve had with Indian men always leads to gross stuff & asking for R-rated stuff and all it takes is me replying with a hello. Now I find it extremely gross when any dude calls me dear bc that’s what they call me when they say the grossest things 😣😒
I’m 63 and I have a old suburban to get around in. I thought about doing Uber now that I need tags oil change etc but THIS SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME!! After hearing the awful stories of women being raped and this is a good exact candidate I think would do just that!! Looks like I’m going for a oil change ugg
This is why I drive for a rideshare company where you can request specific drivers. Uber and Lyft allow ANYONE from anywhere to drive. It’s f*cking bs. Bet your drivers like the company I driver for do!
I am female, and married. I drive Uber in Kansas City. Never had really problematic passengers. Guess KC is pretty chill. I definitely wouldn't act like this driver to anyone.
Uber is a joke they dont care who they employ! Thay are just waiting on going driverless then all these weirdo's who drive for them wont have a job!! 😂😂
Wow, that was bold of the weirdo Uber driver 🤯 I think Xeno’s right in allowing passengers to request a male or female driver…I thought one of those companies do currently offer that?! Or maybe they did?! *_HOWEVER,_* given how Uber operates, anyone wanting a female driver will end up paying an arm & a leg for a surcharge because of the _demand_ for female drivers. Queue the “pink tax” warriors 🤦🏻♀️ I’ve only ever used Uber once…the dude was quiet & so the entire 20-25 minutes was…silent! It’s fine, but it felt strange because he didn’t have the radio on & I didn’t think it was proper to wear my AirPods in that situation 🤷🏻♀️ I have a much more lively time whenever the dealership shuttle drives me wherever I want after I drop my car off for a service.
This is the result of making everything into a "gig". Instead of professionals that can be somewhat vetted you get the people that have no other options. You get what you pay for. Get a cab if you want professionals.
Uber should offer you CASH, not free therapy sessions! That is ridiculous what you endured. Court action could be taken and they would have to pay up for that nonsense
I've had my fair share of awkward uber rides. Like asking weird questions and just driving unsafe sometimes. I had to report a rider for their car being a clunket. It rattled harder than courage the cowardly dog. Like if he were to wreck in it I'd be either injured or dead.
I remember getting cat called by a dirty old man (man #1) across the street in a truck by a liquor store and i didn't do anything but when it happened again at a park i got the courage to do something and i flipped the guy off (guy#2). I feel really proud of myself and people shouldn't be scared to make a scene when someone is disrespecting you. Next time I'm going make a verbal reaction.
1:28 Instead of letting this escalate.. people need to be more proactive. Get out of the car. Tell them to pull over. Pretend you’re car sick and gonna vomit. Or tell them you’re uncomfortable, on video chat with your security app and they’ll call the police if the car doesn’t get pulled over, or otherwise say whatever to get the fuck outta that car.
I think uber wouldn't let customers choose what gender driver they want because men would still abuse it to have a female driver. If the did implement something like that it could only be an option for female riders or drivers but men would freak out about that because its not "equal"
I can feel her fear through my screen, this guy is absolutely disgusting and beyond creepy, he gives good Uber drivers a bad name, hope her mental health is ok, because he scared me.
What do you do? I would NOT laugh it off. I would tell him ho inappropriate he is. tell him to stop the car then not say another word, get out and call another one. But, I come from a time when you raised your hand in the street....I have never been in an Uber I got out of a cab at the stop light once and walked the opposite way against traffic... after giving him a piece of my mind. and DID NOT PAY for the 1 block ride when the driver talked to me like that.
Thing is, you risk angering them. He might not let her out at her request. He might not even take her to her destination then. Worse what if he had a gun? Men like this who get rejected can go from 0 to 10 real quick.
@@FelonyKat I see your point...especially about the gun....And yes...saying "no" to a man can be dangerous But it's time for him to learn that his feelings aren't the ladies problem. I wonder how many times he's done this? She has a cell phone so she can call 911 if he refuses to let her out. I'm telling him to let me out because if he doesn't I going to PUKE in his car. If he doesn't? 911.....and he can go to jail for kidnapping for all I care. She handled it well her way... used the video to educate...... so all's well that ends well. I wonder if he lost his job or was he just given a warning?
That ride may have only been a few minutes, but in that situation it always feels like it's forever....so awkward, uncomfortable, disgusted,,..all.of it.,..a nightmare that you want to end as soon as possible!!!!! This chic did great! This guy is a freak!!!
