As a lawyer (criminal defense and plaintiffs catastrophic injury trial and appeals) I always watch Bruce. I can honestly say that every word, of every video I have watched, has been as objectively accurate and honest to how the justice system operates, no political bias, no hidden agenda, just straight legal analysis. Thanks Bruce and Michael Rivers.
@@ann316 From a non-American's perspective he doesn't have a political bias. I have watched his Hunter Biden clips too. Similarly, in my own country, there's a political party with a significantly looser grip on reality.
5:20 I laughed a lot harder than I should at this... "The company she was working for sponsored one of the holes… at this golf tournament" THANK YOU FOR SPECIFYING, LOL!😂😂😂
I recently had to take care of some business with the social security administration and guess what I had to electronically sign? An eForms document! I'm dealing with the government, yet I was smiling because my brain went to, "Bruce Rivers, he's the criminal lawyer".
@@my2cents320 1st amendment right doesn't mean you get a press conference, that is the point he is talking about. Not that why he is allowed to speak You are throwing such strawmen arguments, you should go work the fields making scarecrows in the new USSR Putin is preparing for people just like you in Ukraine
Just an aside, Cohen is no longer discussing Trump or this case. He discusses other news. I watch him on another channel and when the judge in this case basically called out Cohen and Daniels about their comments, Cohen quit talking about Trump.
Not to mention when Blanche used the excuse it was because what Cohen was saying & trump needed to defend himself, but was unable to give an egample at that time. Calling Trump Vonshitzinpants is fairly light in comparison to what comes out of Trumps mouth when the wind blows up his ass & makes his tongue wag. Not to mention common knowledge well before Cohen even mentioned it.
I am still amazed that any woman ever wanted to touch DT. Melania doesn't only know he's a cheater. She knows much worse and is complicit by her silence.
Melania made a deal with the devil to get out of Slovenia and bring her parents to the US through chain migration. She’s been a pretty dismal addition as far as I’m concerned. She hasn’t earned one ounce of respect or sympathy from me.
Trumps got a watertight case for a mistrial. The Judge lost control of his courtroom and as a result inadmissible, hear say evidence has been heard by the Jury. Trump’s defence team made an initial objection, this was rejected and they were quite happy to let the Prosecution hang themselves out to dry.
Yessss. Bruce delivers again just when I'm desperately scrolling. Even if it will give me the following mental images. At least pain is feeling something, right?
The judge actually commented that he was expecting MORE objections from the defense during her morning direct (implying they did not properly preserve the issue for appeal); apparently the judge was sustaining objections to her testimony from the bench, sua sponte (absent any actual objection from Trump’s attorneys). Given criminal defendants’ appellate rights don’t vest until they become criminal “convicts” (because if they’re acquitted, it’s what’s considered “harmless error”); combined with intimations the defense failed to properly protect the record/their client, I don’t think an interlocutory appeal is in Trump’s future.
Whatever. As Bruce points out, her truthfulness and motives are irrelevant. Falsifying records to quash a false story is just as illegal as falsifying records to quash a true story.
Ex president or not, if you violate a gag order or found guilty of a criminal offense, in all fairness, you must be treated like anyone else who's committed these offenses. No extra chances, no special privileges.
The thing is Blanche _wasn't_ objecting. The judge admonished him after the motion for a mistrial. My understanding is that Cohen was on salary for the Trump Org at this time.
@@KB-ld6qloh and you know Trump never met her because he said so? If that’s so, then throw out the whole case! Because Trump is obviously a voice of reason and truth… gimme a break
Tera Reid is being exiled for accusing biden of sexual assauslt when he was a senator. Do you belive her? Should she sue him for 400million like uegine carrol did?
I think if they were going to call her, it'd have been before Stormy. Paint a chronological picture and all that. As it is, I expect the prosecutor is being extremely careful after the Weinstein decision to only put in what they absolutely need for the case (mentioning the Macdougal affair and payoff) and bringing in absolutely no more (actually calling her to confirm salacious details).
"You're an ex-president, I don't want to do this"? Really?! He's an ex-president! You can easily argue that as an active politician he should be held to a higher legal standard, not a lower one. Why it's so strange to expect someone like Trump get the same treatment as normal people? If it was anybody without his power, that person would be in jail a long time.
Michael Cohen stopped discussing Trump and this case weeks ago. He doesn't want to jeopardize the prosecution's case. I'll admit I was leary of him at first. But after reading both of his books, listening to his podcasts and interviews, I can attest to the fact that his story has never changed.
Oh my God keep up are you joking? All you have to do is Google it. He's on CNN and MSNBC and his podcast every 5 minutes bad-mouthing him. I guess you don't believe in reality just Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.... you are willfully ignorant.
I think the reason for some of the details (not that many, though) would be to highlight WHY it was so important for Trump to keep this hidden from the voters. "He had a one-night stand with a pornstar" would have lost him 10,000 votes. This stuff would have lost him 1,000,000. It's important that the jury knows how devastating would have been to get all this out, just a few months after the Hollywood tape
I can’t imagine being a juror listening to the outlandish, salacious, chaotic, buffoonish scenario that’s was playing out with its host of nefarious grifters, including the guy who was just elected POTUS at that time. It really is embarrassing on a global scale.
When he got elected, he lost the popular vote by millions, but it took less than 100,000 votes total in the entire electoral count to get him into office. The stories he buried would have certainly made a difference in the outcome of the election. We should've had Hillary Clinton as our president.
@joko09010 yes, we foreigners (though I have been living in the US for 13 years) don't understand how half the Americans could prefer a convicted rapist and multiple indicted person, just out of cult it as a matter of principles. Different political ideas are one thing, this amount of shameful illegal acts is a completely different animal. We had Berlusconi in Italy who was also a world wide shame, but he was Gandhi in comparison to Trump
The question one has to ask is: would this case have ever have been taken up by Bragg if the defendant wasn't Donald Trump? The former NYDA Cy Vance, had the allegations and would not move on them. Alan Bragg is the same guy who said that he would not charge armed robbers with felony robbery unless the state could prove that the perp truly intended to hurt someone during the robbery. Therefore: armed robberies are charged as misdemeanors. I recall about 15 years ago, bringing a "white collar" case to the NYDAs Office against a minor city official. An ADA sat behind his desk with his feet propped up on the desk top laughing at the case saying: "There's no victim here, we don't care about it."
I listen to Micheal Cohen, his statements about the case are about things that are publicly known and already taken as fact. Plus, Michael Cohen has already went to jail over this.
You need to keep up on the facts. He was just on MSNBC and CNN saying that he hopes that Trump rots in jail and sees what it's like. They told him if he pleaded guilty to campaign Finance violation they go easier on him on his income tax evasion and lying to Congress. He new darn well what he was doing including knowing it wasn't a campaign Finance violation because he paid for it of his own house. How is that using campaign funds? I really wish that people like you would even read what you write or think about what you write or even try to investigate why something went down the way it did because it doesn't even make any sense.
Also, this is BS that the Judge did not recuse based his family raising money and fundraising off this case. Looks like a clear case of conflict of interest.
I'm looking forward to the "Jack Smith was unlawfully appointed" hearings that have contributed to the indefinitely postponement of the Florida document case. Good work Michael Rivers CG
Bruce, I really dig your insight on these cases. You make it all come together in a coherent and palatable fashion. It simply rules!!! Thx from Seattle for doin what you do!! Cheers!!!
I guess you haven't been paying attention because they've already slaughtered her by bringing up her own published statement. His attorneys are plenty effective even though you don't want them to be.
As long as Trump denies that the payments he made to Cohen were to reimburse him for paying Daniels, I don’t think it’s more prejudicial than probative to ask for (some) details regarding their meetings. This allows the jury to evaluate the credibility of the witness imo.
@Thatchxl This case is more about the papers, than the witnesses. The paper trail is what will get Trump convicted not the witnesses. There is just too much documentation that works against him, looking for that missed placed document will not save him. The math works against him,
@@tonespeaksOh no, I agree on that from a logical standpoint. There’s no real way to get around the document evidence. I just mean to say that it if what Trump wants to do is say that all he was doing was paying Cohen for regular unrelated services, I do think she should be able to have her credibility evaluated. That said, I really don’t know what the most inflammatory questions were.
@@Thatchxl Her credibility is irrelevant because the case has little to do with her, it is about how Trump reported the payoff to the FEC, that is what this is all about.
@@Thatchxl You make an interesting point... if Trump wants to say something... he has to take the stand. Most lawyers would advise him not to take the stand, because he will lie and add perjury to his list of charges.
@@tonespeaks Oh yeah I was just assuming he wasn’t going to. I wonder if he is. From what I can tell, Trumps most recent comment on it was in an interview May 7 with spectrum news. Asked if he will testify, he said “probably. I would like to”, so looks like he definitely might.
Brian Tyler Cohen on Donald the tyrant: "If this guy can't tell the difference between regular speech and attacking witnesses and jury members, then maybe it's not someone with the cognitive ability to be able to serve as President." I agree 💯!
So what about the testimony that Trump was never involved in any of the financial transactions? The employee literally said he wasn’t involved at all and that wberg and the son approved all of this stuff?
@@Jessica-rf7lv no, you literally are not, there had to be a factual and legal basis to impute organizational knowledge to executives and these charges are against Trump, not his business. The allegations are that Trump personally falsified the records in order to hide campaign expenses, not business expenses. You are so far off the mark it’s a joke.
The US is not as bad as most, but don't get caught up in trashing the country just because you think it is the popular thing to do because the next thing you know we are going fascist or communist, and then you will be begging for these times again.
I'm not a fan of Trump. Never have been. I think he is a criminal and *deserves* to be prosecuted, however I hate to see it because I never wanted to see a President in court like this. It's embarrassing for the country.
@bec7080 You are so right... but this is partly Trump's fault. If I was his lawyer I would have insisted on him taking a Plea deal, it would have been better for him and his family... and the country.
Please discuss (sometime?) Judge Cannon's inexplicable delays in the stolen documents case. Is she incompetent, stupid , just plain lazy or all of the above?
None of the above because she's not doing that. Everything was tabled today because of the corruption of the special prosecutor.... did you miss all of today's details?
So you missed the part where Jack Smith screwed up with the evidence about the boxes of documents? And then he lied to the judge about it. And then he got caught in that lie.
@@azishappy2035 Was she also released from admitting to extortion and blackmail? Chat GPT? If someone threatens to disclose damaging information, such as an extramarital affair, to the public unless they receive payment, it typically constitutes a form of blackmail or extortion. The penalties for blackmail or extortion vary depending on the jurisdiction and the specific circumstances of the case. In many jurisdictions, blackmail is considered a serious crime and can result in significant penalties, including fines and imprisonment.
Judge Merchan said: I was surprised, Mr. Blanche, that there were not more objections from your side When you say that the bell has been rung when you say that this is prejudical you sir the defence has to take some responsibility for your own action here, your remedy is a cross-examination of Mrs. Daniels You had the opportunity to object you did not object, and so you have to live with that do you understand?
Previous testimony by prosecution witnesses say Trump 1. did not know the payments were being made, and 2. never directed the payments to be made. Add in the fact that the alleged crime is a misdemeanor bumped up to a felony past the statute of limitations, the fact that the felony is a federal crime being prosecuted by the state of New York (and out of their jurisdiction), and the fact that the payment was made in 2017 (so how can it be election manipulation?), it's hard for me to see how Bruce just goes right along with the prosecution's theory as if it is iron clad truth. where is the crime? We get that you hate Trump, but what about the integrity of the justice system and innocent until proven guilty?
I disagree with you Bruce. The reason Donald Trump is in this position is because of his political power and being the clear front runner to become president again.
14:16 Getting close to the end?! Bro, the state just said they need 2 more weeks, and then you still have however long the defense case in chief will be. This is so far from the end.
