@@TheSilverPhoenix100 i hope at some point during the campaign they pass by and a pastier mentions that someone made there glorious god look like tiamat
It feels like 5 minutes though. I love Jester and Nott's dynamic. And I especially just love seeing more of Jester. Being put in different situations is a good way to bring out more personality traits and draw out the character more. So when she Apolo for it being long, I was thinking "no thanka you". This is one of the best bits. It's like the fun memorable side episode of a series.
Traveler: Jester...what are you- oh my personal precious terrorist...jester no JESTER NO YOU DIDN'T NEED TO GO THAT FAR! JESTER! JESTER RUN! JESTER I LOVE YOU YOU DIDN'T NEED TO DO THIS!!! Also Sam was right. Next time she used it. It had its purpose.
Well, it's until the end of her next turn, so 6-12 seconds depending on when she casts it on her turn (if she casts it at the beginning, she gets 12, at the end, she gets 6).
was he trying to sabotage it on purpose, or was he just getting shitty rolls? cause if he was, he should know that her plan was to deface a fucking temple, she'd be like killed or something for that,
@@DCdabest feel like picking a color for ones hous is alot harder for the neighboors to a bahamut priest, "so we choose to paint red for our kitchen" "BLASPHEMY, TIAMAT SERVANT"
I imagined this entire scene like something out of a heist anime, like with the Lupin III jazz playing while both Jester and Nott were evading the guards and priests like crazy, jeez Jester casting like every spell slot
Pretty sure OP meant that Matt does """script""" (very loosely, it's notes at most) some aspects of the game depending on where the MN are most likely to go or what they're most likely to do. When the players suddenly want to do something like deface church property, he had no way of expecting the scuffle that would follow, so it's completely improv.
I wouldnt say either of them is particularly good... Nott is neutral by character sheet, so whatever, but what jester did constitutes as chaotic evil behaviour, considering she didnt just vandalize the temple, she made fucking bahamut look like tiamat can you imagine the emotional harm she inflicted on the temple's patrons? Imagine people's reactions if you turned crosses upside down in catholic church and left satanic symbols everywhere, this is what jester did here as a "prank". and while she didnt really intend to do that, it's not us who say what's good or bad in dnd its straight up gods who call the shots on alignments, Lawful Good deity, even as forgiving as that, will have much to say about the "good" part of "chaotic good" you mentioned.
@@xelloskaczor5051 actions and repercussions themselves are not what determines a character's alignment, its the motivation and knowledge of said actions that do. While I agree that jester isn't good, she isn't evil. As you said, she didn't intend to tramatise people; she wanted to please her god that 'doesn't like her'. She didn't do it out of the benefit or harm of others; it was for herself. Jester is chaotic neutral. Also who plays the DnD gods at the table? the DM of course. And how the judgement of said alignment is at DM's discretion, but the most fun way I've found for it is to look at the essence of the character by seeing their view of every action. Why did you save those kid? "for the money reward" (point for neutrality). while some actions like saving kids are associated for "doing good" the reason they did it was selfish. no matter how anyone else views their actions, what's important for alignment's sake is the why, not the what. thinking of characters (PCs, NPCs, even enemies and villains) in this manner will make them interesting. You need this frame of mind to make interesting anti-villains or anti-heroes (some of my favorite types of characters). Like an anti-villain takes the oath of redemption for terrible things he did to protect/save a loved one, or the anti-hero(ine) that is a really greedy mercenary who only works as hard as you pay him/her and the morality of the action doesn't matter as long as they can dominate the people around them (the good guys happened to have more money this time), etc. tl;dr Jester is Chaotic Neutral. The why of actions determine alignment, not the what.
@Kristopher Chavez you are welcome to tell me how insulting people and desacrating what they love and believe in is not gonna be evil in eyes of this silly goofballs. Should we start by burning a rainbow somewhere maybe writing bitch on someones door? Face it, desacrating temples is evil. Even traveller fliers were shady, this is pure CE
@Kristopher Chavez and why would you consider emotional pain less relevant when in dnd universe emotional pain can legitimately hurt you? Or kill, for that matter? Evil has degrees, man. Kicking a cat is evil, holocaust was evil, they are not equal but neither is a good act as u claim. If you went and vandalizes the gay rainbow somewjere ppl would be so emotionally hurt they woild likely be danger to themselves. So are you going to argue fucking up their stupid rainbow is not evil or even good coz u didnt physically injure them? Feel feee to do so, but proceed knowing that good and evil in dnd are static and you cant argue with dm. If he says kissing a unicorn is evil, thats because it is, and if you go on unicorn kissing spree and ppl cast detect evil, u will come up on their view. So ask yourself again. Is hurting ppls feelings good or non evil in rpg ran and played by bunch of sjw la snowflakes?
This is perfect! The flashback was superb, all those zoom ins & outs, the music! All and all, thank you for putting the time and effort to emphasize this moment of the show. (Geek&Sundry, Critical Role cast, lawyers, please don’t take this down. This person’s just highlighting the show, not claiming it as their own, just let this live please!!!)
Honestly forgot just how Fucking incredible this was. Serious props to Matt for the great improv, especially with so many curve balls from Laura and Sam!
The Traveler: I'm not sure if I should be proud or concerned that my best friend/main follower just painted the Platinum Dragon in the colours of his sworn enemy... ... The Traveler: I should at least not speak to him for a millenia or so...
Problem is she only has two uses a day and she had already used both for seperate duplicities within that 30 mins. Albeit for this awesomeness...soooo rule of cool
Gods, I can't wait for Laura to forget which temple this happened at and show up at it later down the line and everyone there still has PTSD from being assailed by her and her duplicates, lol
If this ever gets brought up in the game again I hope the Church of the Platinum Dragon blamed it on some kids from the Academy and now the Assembly has strained relations with the church. Just because any way the Might Nien can be a pain in the ass for the Cerberus Assembly is hilarious.
the most amazing thing about this whole situation is that were Sam still playing a bard they would get away with it. Hell guards would probably help to paint the dragon. Man i miss a bard around.
I just came back here to tell you that after I saw Ginny Di’s awesome cosplay a year and a half ago and searched “Critical Role Jester” to find out what on earth it was based on, this was the video I found. I’m now a full on Critter and this show has brought me so much joy. Thank you for getting me hooked. 😄
If Matt wanted to be a dick, he really could have gone down the Tiamat agent route. Lock down the city, door to door searches, interrogations of anyone suspicious. Turns out, Matt ISN'T a dick.
I love how no one made the immediate realization of chromatic colors on the god of metallic dragons. Also I wonder the possibility of Nott being executed since, she is a goblin involved in vandalization of the platnium dragon with chromatic colors. That could've been a real possibility if they were both arrested.
@@mosesfox52Well if they were caught and couldnt get away before the disguise self spell ended. Then the aforementioned comment would have applied maybe.
I want this to be animated, comedy gold XD XD XD I love how Liam inserted the meanwhile scene of Caleb, I had totally imagined that as though its an anime hahaha
I really love Jester and Nott (and Cad, and Yasha) and I can't help but use the inspiration from Laura's Jester for my tiefling cleric I created awhile back. ;_; Jester is so precious.
I'm playing a trickery cleric at the moment, and I desire to achieve this level of chaos XD We almost got it when me and the bard broke into the jail that one time, but I need MORE
I honest to god hope that when I start DMing, my players get up to this kind of trouble. I'd love to see how I can work with this kind of thing and how they'd work as well!
Fortunately for me, my players currently mostly tend to turn their chaos on each other. I had to say the words "roll for catfish damage" when the monk caught the catfish thrown at him by the fighter and then threw it back at the fighter and hit him. Catfish damage. Shinguard damage. Halfling damage. It was supposed to be a peaceful fishing experience to get their lunch...
I kinda hate that Laura was treating Blink like it was bad when it grants her an extra 10 feet of movement each round... but this whole sequence was wonderful.
@@legomasterdan1 Yes, you run 60ft in a dash on your turn, you then roll.for blink, 11 or higher AT THE END OF YOUR TURN and you wink out of exsistence to everyone, but you step through the etheral plane where they can't touch you, and appear 10 ft in a direction you choose at the start of your next turn. You the can run another 60 ft and pop out again, it doesn't slow you down it adds 10 ft and makes you untouchable until your turm.
When I heard her say she was painting the statue in rainbow colors, my immediate thought was, "She's painting the Platinum dragon with CHROMATIC colors?!??!" I've not seen the whole episode so no idea if that ever came up.
Maybe Nott would've been more convincing if she'd said "the sermon guy" instead of "holy father." Jester seemed pretty convinced that that was his title. =)
