A demonstration on different techniques I use to begin and end threads from the right side, so that I don’t have to turn my work. In this video I demonstrate starting both with and without loop start, and ending threads with and without pin stitch.
Please note: I did not realize that RU-vid’s automatic subtitles were covering my work, so there is an updated version here for better accessibility. Please turn off RU-vid’s subtitles and enjoy these that should work better!

This is genius! Thank you so much for sharing. I just bought a scroll frame for a full coverage HAED I'm about to start, but I've been using a simpler project to get used to the frame and flipping that frame around is not fun! This is going to save me so much time, I'm thrilled.

Awesome tutorial....understood it perfectly. I already use loop start and pin stitch finish, but the one I was needing and you explained it perfectly was the away stitch start...thank you very much for clarifying that and how you pinch your thread before cutting by feel on the backside, awesome tip 👌

They are called button or whiteboard magnets, you can get them here or at most office supply stores: www.staples.ca/products/382835-en-staples-coloured-button-magnets-fashion-colours-30-pack

What do you do with the thread when you've done a pin stitch?
@gemmastitches
@gemmastitches Год назад
I clip it close to the work on the back, if it is still long enough I save the leftover piece to use later for single stitches

You said at the beginning that there is a way to do a loop start with an uneven number of threads. Could you please demonstrate that or provide a reference to someone who does it? I'm working a project that requires 3 strands for the stitches so doing a loop start would really be helpful.

Sure there is one here showing how to do it with 3 strands ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ki6vEmQlesE.html And one here for a single strand ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rVhhBPxeZ2Y.html

@@gemmastitches Thank you so much. Those two links are very helpful. While watching those, I stumbled (literally) onto another video that demonstrates a slightly different method. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-naRpBIUFNLE.html

Hi Irene, thanks for pointing this out to me, I had not realized that RU-vid's subtitles were blocking the view. I have reuploaded a new version with subtitles that should work better (please turn off RU-vid's subtitles when watching) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IPR_J60gS-8.html I hope that helps!
