Crysis Remastered - brings Ray Tracing for the FIRST time to current-gen consoles! 

Sometimes I think that there is nothing to remaster in Crysis. This actually tells how good the original game from 2007 was.

Getting raytracing to work on GPUs from 2013 is pretty impressive. Getting Crysis to run at all on a Switch is mind-blowing.

This is extremely impressive. I could tell from the Switch version how the other console and PC versions might look, but this has surpassed my expectations easily. Can't wait to do my 11th run of the game on PS4 Pro and get the Platinum trophy for this game, again!! (yes, I beat this game on Delta, on the PS3 version lol)

Rocks and objects still look like 2007 game. They are very bad. Character models are worse. Same HUD. Same Menu Design. What can i say more? You could do more than Activision did.

The water and concrete surfaces look so much worse than in the original- I played it again a couple of weeks ago, so no nostalgia on my part, it's just a very sad truth.

This isn't ray tracing. It's screen space reflections. There's no light reflections on character models.

Those reflections on the floor are not ray-traced. They are duping us with these shots. Pay close attention to the shot at 0:25. The blue light in the background is reflecting on the ground. When the plane blocks the blue light from the camera's view, the reflection also disappears. In real life, the rays of light would bounce under the plane and still be visible in the reflection on the ground. The point of ray-tracing is to provide this realistic behavior. This footage, however, is using Screen Space Reflections, which is a relatively cheap reflection technique that simply re-uses data that is already visible on the screen. It cannot reflect geometry which is not directly in view. I personally hate SSR and how popular it has become. Older games like Half Life 2 have more realistic reflections (at least on water) because they choose to re-render all the geometry to avoid the pitfalls of SSR. This was only really possible in these older games however because the geometry was simple and the performance cost was not as high as it would be today.

To those not understanding why textures etc look low res/low quality textures on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro developers the use of ray tracing is optional and these low res/low quality textures are the compromise developers had to get to in order to allow ray tracing. If one doesn’t enable ray tracing the game runs at higher quality settings and resolution. Watch Digital Foundry’s preview analysis!

why did they show footage from lasst gen consoles rather than new or a pc??? remaster or re-release....

I really wish their was more too ray tracing. Maybe focus more on more graphical fidelity, character details, environmental physics, than just trying to focus on the reflections. Sure we need reflections, but it's not going to blow you away yet :)

This isn't ray tracing at all. It's still screen space reflections. Check out the blue light reflection starting around 0:25. As soon as the originating light is off the screen, the reflections on the ground disappear. It pans over and again, as soon as the originating lights appear, the reflection appears on the ground. We've had this technology for... eons. This doesn't use ray tracing at all.

When is the game coming to Steam Store anyway?

It's been confirmed that no ray tracing is used on bodies of water, yet a third of this trailer shows off those non-ray trace reflections.

I was waiting for them to show off the new ray tracing. Then I realized that they were the whole time. Dang, feels bad for the console gamers.

Just because you _can_ do something doesn't mean you _should_ . Graphically, this game was ahead of its time, I'll give it that. Remastering it and using ray tracing hasn't brought it up to date. It's simply made it look a little less dated. It's like slapping a new paint job on an old car and putting it toe to toe with a Tesla - why? If you're going to revisit a game, remake it, like Bluepoint is doing with Demon Souls.

its sad when even a rematered crysis isnt good enough nowadays and it looks outdated as fuck... gone are the days when crysis was and felt the most beautiful game ever.... time passes.... and the games that once were amazing...transform into mehhh eventually.... i remember playing doom 2 for the first time back in the early 90s... it was outstanding.. incredible... then quake 1 came.. 3d graphics... nothing can beat that i thougt..... and now.. both game are old... and pixelated and primitive... (they are still legendary tho) same happens with crysis now. hurts to see a former champion getting old.

Wait wait wait, hold on a second. If this game is going to be a true remaster it should have visuals so beautifully detailed that the console and future generations would will struggle to run, in respect for the original.

The upgraded visuals look terrific, but I want the *WHOLE* experience with the improved graphics: all gamplay features and control options kept intact, the _entire_ main campaign (I'm looking at you, Ascension), multiplayer, the Crysis Warhead campaign, Crysis Wars, etc. I hate that game companies have gotten into the habit of releasing these remasters as graphically enhanced, but largely stripped down versions of the originals. It ticks me off. Especially when they do it to one of my favorites like Crysis. Do it right or not at all.

I love Crysis, but it's gotta suck working on the Crysis project. They've had to redo the same models and textures a thousand times over the years, while everyone just wants a new Crysis. Can't be good for the soul.

Gonna be honest. I like Crytek and respect the people there but I think they did a lot of strange decisions in the last years. Crysis Remastered feels like it’s only a thing because everything else they’ve tried failed miserably. There’s no heart and no soul in this project either. Hunt: Showdown could have been a good game but Crytek was sooo slow with updates, community requests and bugfixes. There’s still a lot of unfixed gamebreaking sh*t. Also there are so many people that wanted Hunt to go nuts, jackfrags for example but the decision making at crytek was complete a**. Hopefully nobody loses his job because of your dumbness but I heard it’s already happening

Someone please tell Crytek that ray tracing doesn't really matter when everything else looks like a PS2 game. Would be much better if they made refined assets and enviroment with only baked reflections.

There are still obvious issues with texturing - the compute shaders with SVOGI don't seem to offer the same quality as RTX on PC. That said, PS5 and Xbox Series X come with hardware Ray Tracing, so it will be interesting to see how these handle the game.
