The mid year cut is madness , again if you’re good enough to get on tour you should be on tour for the year , scrap all this nonsense and let’s go back to a fair system, best on tour for the year is the champ.

Joao created the interference, he could have paddled to the face and caught wave , he intentionally paddled into Griffin, like he said he utilised the rules
I think the conversation is interesting on this. It's so close. Did Griffin paddle under Joao and leave himself exposed? Maybe. Did Joao create this opportunity or just take advantage of what was there? Could he have caught the wave? Probably.
