Great overview. Stanton makes a nice plywood lift that I was thinking could be fixed to two 20 ml holes in the side of your bench that you could drill 16ml apart somewhere central and hold firmly but temporarily with the new tso cam locking dogs….also Stanton puts a t track in his top that holds a vice or whatever else you might want to temp clamp in…

Hey this was super helpful. I'm about to build the PSB top tomorrow and I've been thinking about a mobile base. Seeing your flow and how you organized, was good food for thought.

It's just easier working in metric period. Love my adjustable Microjig face and tail vise solutions! I'm about to start My first Smart Bench build and after seeing Paulk jumping on his work surface and the Flex in it, I think I'll leave pillars in the 2 interior supports to keep the top from sagging.

hey nice video sir, I am going bk and forth about if I should add another pre made MFT top to the short and long side , so in effect it will be either 2.2 M x .7m or make it 1.1m X 1.4m ..dilema lol. perhaps the latter is better. Any way can I ask you please a couple of things. The track u have is a makita track like mine, what is the make/model of the square you have attached to it and also did you find the back length of the track slightly not straight ---perhaps .1mm or.2mm out? (can make a diff for glue ups etc , even though a fraction of a degree out over a length of say 1m. ) Thanks in advance sir :)

Nice setup Robert. I noticed the grs16 guide rail square, compared to the insta square which do you prefer?

The grs16 for sure. It’s lighter, and you can attach the extensions to it for repeatable cross cuts.

I really appreciated this video. Are you happy with the cordless makita sander for finish work?
@DaileyWoodworks

It’s a decent sander. You want a corded one for extended use. I like have a cordless for quick little jobs or to take to a job but use my new Mirka for most sanding now

Congrats on the build! Do the plans include the patterns or dimensions to make the "extenders" that Ron Paulk shows in his videos? It is not obvious whether that is included from the description given. The extenders permit full support when working with a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Did you make these? I can also see how the parallel guides defeat the purpose of the extenders on some level.

I have not made any of the extenders yet. You'll have to check out Ron Paulk's website to see if he's made any plan packages. With my TSO squares and guides I haven't been in a hurry to make the extenders. IMO a 3x6 workbench supports a 4x8 sheet just fine. You just need to slide it this way or that a little for the first couple of cuts.

@@DaileyWoodworks Understood - the plan package descriptions don't mention the extenders. I bought plans for the original Paulk Total Station, and the PCB, and the crosscut sled. Now that he has redesigned, I will buy his plans again.

Nice video and I love the mic ... especially that you can look away from the camera and retain good audio quality ... what mic is this?

Robert - nice video. Here are a few things I plan to incorporate from Paoson's designs in a modular design and multi-functional workbench (www.paoson.com/blog/en/modular-workbench-mobile-tool-stand-3-n136/). I am going to do a PSB top, but include a small storage space the length of the workbench to hold tracks, long pipe clamps, long sacrificial boards, etc. However, in your case this would have to be incorporated into the overall height of your bench. He also has some nice side tracks to allow clamping with T-tracks. I plan to make my PSB side access holes on the long edge a little less wide to leave room from a T-track. I also plan to incorporate a couple of things from Kevin Criswell's modes to the PSB (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VZVuIc7npcE.html).
