I've been telling people for years, don't be sleeping on that Ecoboost. When I started as a tech I went to Ford and they had us learning about the new engines that were being tested . They had a mule car with a production stock 3.5 and it was putting 400 and 400 to the wheels of a 04-05 2wd f250 . The home office liked to send little video clips out. One day I open my email and there is a short bed 250 blowing the tires off, whipping sh-it hooks, limiter bouncing....that was not normal for back then, this truck was popping 3 ft flames out of the pre axle dumps. The new raptor can make north of 500 ftlbs without even breathing heavy and below 2000 rpm .....that's more than the hero engines of the late sixties " smiles at Buick stage 2 455 " 😱. I was planning on doing a Ecoboost build in a crown Vic before the COVID crap wrecked everything but this engine has so much potential, it's nutz.

Yeh, that's a mean sounding v6. Not sure if it's as good sounding as the supercharged toyota v6's that lotus use, but it sounds angry.

@Rob Sorgdrager I was stoked when these 1st came out. I finally got my hands on a 2012 f150 platinum with the 3.5tt . 25k in parts later, I have this itty bitty v6, that makes in the neighborhood 630 crank hp ( estimate going of my airflow numbers 63lbs/min. ) roughly 550whp. and torque is mid 600s . it even sounds decent for an eco. next on the build is a direct port injection meth kit with a piggieback controller. the down side of the 1st gen is fueling, even with a larger lpfp, and an xdi35 hpfp, it's not enough. 😢😊

I’m not a 6 cylinder kind of guy if it didn’t have one originally (like Porsche for example), but this really works on this one! I definitely plan on being a Superformance customer in the future and I’ll get a V-8, but this is phenomenal! So happy for Doug, hope they get the bugs worked out soon. Great car, tons of really skilled work went into this one!

There's no taking away how sweet his GT40 is!!! Why Ford never put this in a mustang is beyond me. Power to weight has got to be better than a stock V8. Even a stock twin with a little tweaking by ford with the Mach1 drivetrain and set up would be interesting. Doug your GT's sound and performance proves there's not a Damm thing wrong with a built V6! Thanks for sharing your dream ride!

Gorgeous gorgeous car and perfect livery. I'm all for pie cuts and smooth awesome fab and welding work, but the intake tubes to the turbos, some of the other plumbing, and exhaust tips look like they could be done a little smoother or polished. Maybe it's the way it's shot with a constantly moving camera or it was getting to the point in the build that some things had to be rushed to meet deadline. Please make no mistake I'm not talking shit because the overall vision and execution looks incredible but the piping in the shots look like they need to be finished.

The short squat body of this GT40 as compared to the elongated body of the later models is retro awesome, and I couldn't stop laughing at the face of the owner driver as he rowed the gears, he looked terrified 😂😂👍.

I have a 2020 Raptor, and though it's not built like this GT40. When the turbos spool up it's game on. I'll do a rolling 40 boost and next thing I know I'm at 80. Great video on such an iconic car. Love the exhaust note and wish I could have that on my Raptor. Thank you for sharing.
