This tutorial series is excellent, thank you for it. My favorite DCS World description is when I tell people there is a 3hr tutorial video on how to sit in the back seat of the F14 and NOT FLY the plane. 3 hours to understand the simulated electronics, operations of the radar, jamming and defense systems and even then it’s an intro and just sets the player up for success - yet doesn’t guarantee it. Think about that. It really gets to the heart of what this simulator is about.

Crossrated AME here. Tiger team. I love this vid. I'm impressed with your recollection of proper nomenclature after so long. There are so many terms you used that got me excited to jump back into this bird... one of the most beautiful and deadly pieces of machinery ever created by man. Well done sir.

Many thanks. Your video helped me a lot. I've been having quite a bit of difficulty with things like cold starting the airplane because I simply couldn't read the labeling for a lot of the switches. Bookmarked with extreme gratefulness.

Setting up custom snap views really helps with that. It's a bit of a tricky process the first time round but easy enough to use - there are videos around explaining how to do it. Each DCS module has default snap views already set up for you, but they aren't always much use for manipulating switches and reading legends.

I usually avoid 2-hour long videos .. but this one is really a jewel ... I suggest the viewers to first give a fair read to the Natops manual, as then you will be able to understand much more of what the narrator is explaining. I loved when he operated the hand pump for the hidraulic system and clearly he was not expecting it to actually work ... Heatblur has really outdone themselves and implemented quite a lot of the aircraft systems ... I hope they will add more to the Master Test Knob, as only a few of its tests are simulated :) .... love your Channel, for this type of really in-depth content :D

OK, it took three sessions at the PC, but I finally managed to watch the whole video (longer than most cine movies) ... I came away impressed, even more than when I wrote my previous comment ... loved the final part where we can see side-by-side the startup of a real F-14 vs the one on the Sim ... amazing, kudos for this video, really one of the very best I've yet seen :D

I am learning the DCS F-14 now and your great Video helps a lot, many many detailed Infos. Thank you very much Sir, you are doing great. One thing I will maybe never understand…….why is there no main battery switch in the Tomcat? Every plane I know has a main battery ( I am new to Jet Fighters…..maybe it is common there and a normal concept!? ), the first time I hopped into the F-14 cockpit without knowing anything about it I was searching for the main battery switch and the APU......….LoL! I am flying B-747 in real live, I did only learn to fly small piston engine aircraft, turbo prop and airliner jets, starting to learn a bit more about modern combat fighter jets on my PC with a simultaion software I realize that it is a total different world, many new procedures and totally different concepts. It is really interesting.

Glad the video helped you!. Spiceman and quite a few others in our organization are a treasure beyond description when it comes to this stuff. But to answer your question. Tomcat has no battery per-se. The only battery it had was in the emergency NPS (Navigational Power Supply) which would keep the nav system online for 10 seconds or so if power was interrupted. The rest is driven by the main generators from the left and right engines, there was a backup hydraulic generator that would last a little while as well. But there was no APU or no aircraft battery at all. Start Cart was the order of the day for Tom and his pals :)

@@carrierairwingeleven1747 @Carrier Air Wing Eleven Hello Sir, thank you very much for the kind answer. Oh yes, now I know already that it has no battery or APU, I am reading the manual from Heatblur, besides watching many tutorial Videos, your Videos here do help me a lot in better understanding the Tomcat and it´s system design. About that Nickel Cadmium battery which feeds the Navigation system for only 10 seconds to prevent loss during power transfers or short interruptions, I read that in the manuala few days ago. I thank you for your videos and help, I will watch the other Videos now to learn more about the RIO station.

Hey dude, I was in VF-41 from 1992-1995, did most of the deployment from March - August 1995. I was in Admin, YN3 Snead. How do you get into using the virtal aircraft?

Thx for your great video! I got a question, have u used ground track and heading select or hold? I know how to use altitude hold, but these 2 functions dont work. Are they not simulated yet?
@stevenspicer14
@stevenspicer14 5 лет назад
Dingjia Chen I actually haven’t tried those. I would not be surprised if they’re not implemented yet.
@mrsayang
@mrsayang 4 года назад
to make Heading Hold and Altitude Hold work…...you Need to press the "Nosewheel Steering/Autopilot Engage" button on the flight stick. In the real F-14 it is the same switch for both actions and in DCS in steering command that is the same aswell, in Default Settings, the Nosewheel steering switch activates the autopilot for Heading Hold, Ground Track, Altitude Hold and ACLS landing modes.

Was the LANTIRN really able to work with the TID or it was mounted only on frames with PTID ?
@stevenspicer14
@stevenspicer14 5 лет назад
Ivaylo Kolev it was only deployed operationally on aircraft with the PTID, I believe. It could display on the regular TID and there were early tests done with it, pre-PTID. HB didn’t have sufficient documentation on the PTID, so they’ve modeled it on the regular TID. It’s not perfect but it is certainly a plausible configuration.

Do systems go down if you lose left gen vs right gen or will one pick up all the load?
@rudelchw
@rudelchw 5 лет назад
Each generator is able to provide full power to all the systems .. if you do lose both main Gen, there is the emergency Generator driven by the hydraulic system, but that one only powers the essential Buses.

Hey one question I am a novus player and I wait the full 9 min on the carrier to do ins alignment and today I got into a fight with an s-300 and while evading I totally ruined the ins. I couldn't use the bomb fall line. What parameters cause me to ruin the ins and is there a way to get jester to realign while I pay attention to not getting shot out of the sky?
@carrierairwingeleven1747
@carrierairwingeleven1747 4 года назад
sounds like you over pulled the aircraft and broke your gyros, the Tomcat doesn't have an FCS and will happily let you pull as hard as you want. You need to build the G slower.
