I have two of those 5-10 scales, you can't beat them. I have the auto drum, I bought it as a "Try it out" thing with my Dillon presses. It works, however, I have found that it 'chatters" no matter how much I have smoothed out the expander plugs. I have them glossy like glass. It boils down (My thoughts) to the interior of the Brass itself and not so much the expander plug. Just one of those things you can't reasonably do anything about. But,,, food for thought. even if your charge weight is a little off, it really has no bearing on accuracy and nothing to toss and turn about at night driving you crazy. many people make inaccurate shots because they don't possess the discipline to shoot properly or never been taught the fundamentals of shooting. it isn't a standard deviation thing when considering the range you will be shooting at, thus velocity variations contribute in a small way not worth measuring and the barring of it has a very Low order of probability of changing any result. I wanted to share that My Buddy"Mixup98" has a excellent video out now instructing pistol marksmanship. So good video dude, keep up the good work.-Dave

Auto drum definitely takes some tweaking but it works good for cfe pistol. Fine power I use the Lee perfect powder measure. Stick powder I use the RCBS chargemaster lite. This is what works for me. Your mileage may differ 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nice. I'm still a single stage loader and I weigh out each of my charges. I actually weigh them twice. Once on the trickle charger and then again on a separate scale to check. If they agree, I put it in the case. Needless to say, my production rate is on the slow side. OCD wins.

Question...does the bottom of your expander die touch the shell plate at the top of the stroke ?

POPPING is usually due to case sticking the flaring tube,,, polishing will help for a while but eventually, the flaring tube will get scratched up again and the case will stick and pop when on the downstroke....

I have read in some forums where some reloaders run dry graphite through the auto drum powder measure before loading it with gunpowder. Some graphite is included with the powder as a lube but I'd like your (anyone that reads this) input. Do you dry lube your auto drum before use? I ordered an auto drum last week from MidwayUSA, it was on sale! I have an ancient (91') auto disk for pistol calibers and it's a pita to adjust the disks between calibers, it requires disassembly with a screwdriver to change the disks. I have my Dad's old (72'?) Lyman #55 powder measure that I've been using for rifle, I see the auto drum being a more efficient setup.

Mine started leaking last night. I'm doing .223 so I'm not flaring. It still creeks and pops. I'll get the Flitz out and polish mine. I was running H335.

Old ones are better than the new ones. Quality has gone down hill since covid hit.

How do you adjust the powder drop say from 5.0 to 4.3 tho . Can I go from say 4.0 to 4.5 or even 5.6

I have 3 of these, 1 works. On the old ones the aluminum surface like you showed was a bit rough. On the new ones they polish the aluminum but the plastic piece is rough as hell. The main problem though is the plastic shaft that rotates the drum will bend or wear a little and then you don't get a full rotation, which amplifies the problem of the friction in the drum. If they made that shaft and the part it connects to put of steel, and if they made it with about 5 degrees more of rotation, they'd have a bulletproof winner. As it is, like most Lee products, it's marginal at best. Very disappointing.

Mine absolutely sucks! I have no idea why Lee discontinued the older ones, dumbest mistake Lee ever made IMHO. This drum measure does not work well for the 4-hole turret type where the measure must turn. I have to use mine in a stationary application, like here. But if it has to turn then it sucks.....big. Glad I stocked up on the smaller square hopper type, very disappointed with Lee. If anyone has the older square type and want to get rid of them let me know.

Shouldn't have any powder leak after JUST ONE case loaded LMAO..... run a couple hundred then look at the leaked powder...
