Dagoth Ur (the god) has arrived at the only correct opinion of the MCU. While a film need not have serious artistic merit to be good, the MCU has watered down their storytelling so much that it no longer even passes as entertainment for simplistic enjoyment.
The thing about the MCU is that Marvel is a really niche thing. You can't make it marketable to a general audience and expect it to keep the magic it had. Say what you will about Phase 1 but Paramount understood the thing that made Marvel special - Unlike Disney.
The MCU has always been mid at best. Most overhyped and overrated media phenomenon in history. There is a reason why all serious movie critics and movie producers who can afford it absolutely despise the MCU and Marvel Studios in general.
I’m personally of the opinion that the MCU’s story up to Thanos was actually pretty to get invested in, seeing all that crazy spectacle gradually increasing over half a dozen films only made you more and more curious as to how the final boss was going to top it all. But now that there’s no overarching plot and final villain to keep you hooked, the flaws are a lot more obvious.
Add to that the fact that the overarching story is now put into TV shows with quality decreasing everytime a new one releases. Gone are the times where you could simply follow the movies, now you also have to do your Disney+ homework.
I mean, theres a few good movies here and there, I'm mainly thinking about the three guardians of the galaxy as they were almost stand alone within the MCU, but yeah, as someone that has been a fan of the MCU for years, I just cant stand out their shitty movies and tv series anymore. I hope they can bring back what makes them good in the first place, but I doubt it.
I disagree I lost interest in it pretty earlier around the release of Iron Man 2 That's when I noticed stories and plots started blending of becoming very similar
Honestly, when's the last time we saw an original IP? I can't recall a major blockbuster in recent memory that wasn't a sequel, reboot, spinoff, based on a comic, or based on a book.
Well, especially of the last 2 things "Based on a book/comic" is an actual requirement/exlusion for you then you will find an utter lack of original IPs in every single year of cinema history. Half the things you deem an "original IP" are in fact movies based on books. OC always existed and still exists but it was never the biggest part of the industry. And there is an easy reason as to why: We write and sell books for entertainment purposes for about 5 hundred years (we do it for longer, but since that time reading was actually widespread) - there is plenty of useable material. There is actually not a single bad argument for building upon an already created world/franchise. The problem is people doing a bad job. There is no objective reason as to why a new for example Simpsons movie cannot be the greatest movie in the history of mankind. That this is true can also be seen that people fanboyed for a decade about the MCU despite Marvel and its products being franchises several decades old.
With this in mind, perhaps a (Insert character here) Kills the Marvel Universe would be appropriate for the final cultural send off. A clever meta move dealing with this oversaturation in a bold statement. Hell, maybe the writer's strike could retaliate in this scenario by killing off the latest cash cow. I don't hate the superhero trend, I'm still looking at stuff to this day, but I'm a little fatigued at overindulging.

I wish Disney didn't basically take Star Wars away from the fans. George may have sold it (he donated the money to charity so I'm not upset with him), but Disney fucked it.
disney even admitted they screwed george with the phrasing. they made him think they are going to use his scripts for the new trilogy, but the contract only said they MAY use his script, not HAVE TO use his script. so the moment he signed it they threw his scripts in the trash

Every Star Wars movie after A New Hope are considered independent films.

DC Comics has the same problem. Dagoth Ur forgot about the problem of the multiverse and time travel. They remove the impact and seriousness of whatever crisis is happening in a movie, as everyone can just easily evacuate into another universe or turn back the clock if shit hits the fan.
my deadric take is Disney lost any form of creativity with Walt Disney. and even then Disney was fallowing his own formula remaking the Brothers Grimm dark fairy tails into firmly friendly cartoon movies
Phase 1 of the MCU was, for all its scope as a project, was ultimately just a series of unambitious but well-made stories with detailed and interesting characters, all culminating in one truly excellent team-up film whose magic the franchise has been consistently trying (and failing) to recapture. They were good movies with simple but deeply engaging heroic narratives, a kind of light fun that was built on a foundation which took itself seriously as far as its characters and world. Phase 2 was a total mess, with the possible exception of Winter Soldier (though I'm told that film does not survive repeat viewing). At some point, you've got two good GotG movies on the side, but then we move onto Phase 3, home of the most overrated films in recent history, Civil War and Infinity War. The former, a political drama that's too scared of upsetting or boring the audience to include more than a few seconds of genuine debate, and is so packed with B-plots that it smothers the main narrative; the latter, honestly, a massive film that still tries to cram so much into itself that it, by some miracle, manages to feel anemic and underexplored. Like it had two films worth of story squeezed into one, really. Don't even get me started on Ragnarok: a well-made comedic epic, sure, but one that only superficially comprehends its characters and frequently comes-off as disrespectful to them because of it. But, of course, those were at least passable films; however, following Infinity War came the inevitable tumble from the edge of the Quality Cliff into the disgusting refuse of the Shit-Valley below. Phases 4 & 5 have been slop, at very best. Even GotG 3, the shimmering oyster in this shit clam, was poorly formed and crumbles under the slightest scrutiny.
I would love to see either love an elder scroll tv series or movie series based on the lore. Like witnessing a morrowind movie based on on the events leading to the creation of The false gods of the tribunal and the creation of Dagoth ur
I want a Godzilla movie where Godzilla invades Tamriel and it would be funny. And Godzilla then does battle against a rampaging Giant Dwemer robot and then Godzilla all of a sudden is the anti-hero but still blows up the white gold tower in the fight killing the emperor as he is about to escape on an experimental flying boat machine based off of dwemer tech. I have more imagination in my left hand then all of disney ever will. Also make the emperor an elf puppet for the Thalmor making it a feel good killing that has been long over due.

I lost interest in the MCU once I realized Infinity War and Endgame was just a Avengers movie formula stretched into 2 movies... Heroes meet up, get beaten in their first fight against the villain, have a post-beating pep talk, and finally beat the villain in a hollow last minute victory everyone saw coming. All in that order, just stretched into 2 full movies

Imagine if the new star wars movie has a character "Captain Star Wars" and people expected it to be taken seriously. Superhero franchises are like Hanna-Barbera. A million unforgettable franchises copy pasted from one to the other.
Argonians are great swimmers. Maybe Khajit? I doubt cats like water. There are literal Redguard who are black dudes? Elder Scrolls is a different place Empire and Nords hate each other and they're both super white. Who were the Dwemer hispanics? They built everything and then died? That's pretty racist Lukas. Star Wars is still fantastic. Disney's content is fucking garbage, but that isn't Star Wars. 1-6 and the original Expanded Universe, now called Legends, is a saga worthy of the Sixth House and the Tribe Unmourned.
@aifunfest Honestly, looking back, 1-3 were some pretty outstanding stories, they just suffered in execution. There was genuine substance there. If you're not convinced, check out the Revenge of the Sith novelization by Matthew Stover. It's basically just Episode III with more context and better dialogue. The mistake Lucas made was taking a mature, slow burn story about a man's surrender to the evil within himself on the canvas of a dying civilization morphing into an unrecognizable leviathan, and tried to throw in a bunch of dumb shit to appeal to kids who would be bored otherwise. Beyond that, there's nothing in those films that couldn't be saved with a simple dialogue pass. It's rough around the edges, but it has heart. Much like our beloved Dunmer. Dagoth Ur would approve.
Marvel has always been mid, you were just too hyped by the novelty of it to see its very obvious flaws. In that, it's similar to the Sherlock series made by Moffat but on a larger scale.

He's a jerk and he has hard times and comes to terms with himself and tries to reform himself only to realize the evil was at home and he has to overcome that to be a good person and respect his lady assistant instead of banging random reporters. He even admits he's Ironman and has a heart to heart with said reporters. That's more character development then all of 50 years of Batman put together. If anything the MCU keeps undoing that so they can do it again while 1 was a clean movie. Same as Winter Soldier Captain America's not going to let them murder his friend Bucky he stands by what's right no matter what or was that Civil war it all blends together sadly.
Thank you, someone needed to say it. MCU and Star Wars are both over hyped trash fandoms for laziest of mouth breathers. Sure light sabers are and awesome concept, if they didn't steal it from anime being produced near 5 years prior to the first heap of garbage George Lucas vomited onto screen. I'd be inclined to call the Jedi belief/moral system unique and insightful if it wasn't completely robbed from Taoism. Ah, then I will suggest some good ones. Mobile Suit Gundam: A war anime featuring mobile suits. It has an amazing Stanley Kubrick style undertone that doesn't become evident to the audience until the end. You realize the main character during the course of the anime slowly looses everyone and issolates himself from others due to difficulty associating. The reasoning is because he is the first of human's next evolution, and therefore a new species of semi-psychic human known as New Types. I absolutely suggest it. The anime premiered one year after Star Wars. However, work began on the series years prior to Star Wars, which includes pre-released materials such advertisements and promotional sketches. The unique thing about Gundam as a franchise is that they are not comoletely separate series. Although, there are a few series that are not connected, the vast majority are. The series starts with 'Mobile Suit Gundam Origin' every series after it is set a little further ahead in time to the next war, and has a different main character (New Type), but exists in the same world. In fact, the main characters from 'Mobile Suit Gundam' 'Amuro Ray' and 'Char Azunable' appears in 'Zeta Gundam' as a brief mentor for the main character, and again in 'ZZ Gundam' Amuro Ray is back older as an admiral. Char Azunable appears throughout the series until his revenge movie where he drops an entire space colony onto earth. Later series makes it clear the persona of Char carries on as a sort of role for the opposing earth military leader who assumes the identity of Char Azunable. The focus of the stories change from time to time, and it isn't always clear if the earth federation or the space federation are the true bad guy. Some series can be the typical new type desperately fighting a war, to Space Marines being Marines with Gundams in a jungle on earth, to a handful of Spys sent to earth in Gundams to wreck havic on the earth federation. The series is just fun. If you don't like one series, there is guaranteed to be another one you will. Sorry a bit long winded. Harlock: I suggest starting with the series 'Harlock Arcadia of my Youth.' Leigi's work on the harlock series is only a small portion of a universe encompassing many other anime and manga he has writen. Some of these stories far predate Star Wars by nearly 8 years, and feature futuristic weaponry, such as lazer guns and in rare instances light weapons. His work is art. His stories are rich and have depth to them that helps you to invest in the characters. Although some series like Galaxy Express 999 are a product of their time and can go on forever, they are still very satisfying works. On a more modern note, I highly highly, HIGHLY! Suggest checking out the 1995 release of 'Berserk.' Just be warned the ending is... After that check out the manga. It picks up where the anime left off at chapter 14. Enjoy, but don't spoil the ending by looking it up. It is a doozie, and a bit traumatizing.
@@colincodes I will say this. George Lucas is by no means a prodigy. The concept of space ships and lazer weapons were in no way a new concept. The 1960s were spitting out space scifi left and right. George Lucas produced a good movie and people liked it. The only reason it is huge, is because it has had the time to accumulate a fandom. I guarantee Naruto and DBZ and other series will be the same if not larger many years from now, once the Baby-Boomer are long gone and Gen-X is retiring.

@@FE3LTHEL0V3 1 is good the sequels are well not as fun but 1 was incredible for it's time. It changed movies forever. All the slo mo fights came from that movie. Scary movie is another fun one because it parodies the fight choreography.
