Here is yet another video to explain daily habits to create consistency for your oral care routine. Creating consistency helps keep not only your mouth healthy, but also attributes of overall health. Our mouth’s are a part of our bodies. They are not a separate body part that we carry around and are able to put in or take out when we want. They are inside our skulls 💀 They are very important to our overall health. Here are some very simple tips to create consistent habits 😷

depression really made me neglect my health overall, especially my oral hygiene. Now i brush at least twice a day (three if i feel like there's a lot of food debris), plus waterpik before bed. im not even using whitening toothpaste but my teeth are brighter than before, and most importantly, my gums are not inflamed anymore. educational videos like this should be recommended to people regardless their age/interest.

I was under a great deal of stress for a year. I ground my teeth. I have a lot of crowns. A few had to be replaced due to cracks. Then my dentist found a lump in my gum. I had not pain, no symptoms. But unknown to me - I had infected tooth all the way to the jaw bone. It had been dormant for probably a year. Meanwhile I thought I had migraines. Turns out it was the tooth. I lost it and needed implant as either side were crowns so a bridge was not an option. Lesson? I’ve started watching your videos…and teach myself how to save the others. Thank YOU!!!!

Thank you for this video. I just got my water pik last week and found your instructional video that was so helpful to me. I am trying to be consistent with my brushing twice a day and I am also using my water pik and flossing twice a day as well. My next cleaning will be in about 5 1/2 months and I am hoping my hygenist will see an improvement. Also, I must let you know you have beautiful teeth, and your dog is super cute too! Thanks again I will keep following for more of your helpful and thoughtful tips.

@@holistichygienejust wondering what your thoughts on interdental brushes/rubber interdental brushes are?

I am all for them. They are convenient for on the go and help remove food, plaque, and bacteria throughout the day.

Since introduced, I have always taken string flossing seriously. But I always considered water flossing a gimmick. Now I wish I had started water-piking a long time ago.

Excellent analysis 👍👍. I have never had a hygienist give me this sort of break down. My hygienist is friendly, and would give me tips, but not to this extent. What is your opinion about after throughly water piking and brushing about an oral rinse such as Colgate total? After many years of failed root canals, bridges, and extractions I opted for the all on 4 upper and lower. I didn’t need any bone grafting, and wasn’t going the dentures route. I found out about 5 years ago that one of my medications was depleting my enamel. I could have used the information 20 years ago but it is what it is. Having this procedure was a small fortune, and I want to do my best to keep my mouth clean, and debris free . Looking forward to more of your videos.

Due to having the all on 4, there is no need for the mouthwash unless you want a “fresh” feeling. I would opt to put a small amount of peroxide in the waterpik or make a mixture of 50/50 peroxide/water to rinse with or even salt water. These are safer and yield excellent results without all the chemicals in mouthwash. There is also a mouthwash called Closys, it’s an excellent choice! This is the number #1 over the counter rinse I love

This is great information, it very clear and helpful. I was wondering if there is a proper order when taking care of your teeth? I usually use a silicone interdental brush first, then brush, then waterpik. Should I use it the other way around?
@holistichygiene
@holistichygiene 2 года назад
Thank you. It truly does not matter the order. I was taught to waterpik first, then brush. And the reason is because using the waterpik first removes and plaque/bacteria from between the teeth so when brushing, the fluoride in the paste flows in between the teeth and is able to touch the tooth surface to strengthen it, rather than the fluoride hit the plaque and bacteria. Hope this helps!

Questions from NYC. I'm guessing Listerine is the best mouthwash. There are so many kinds. Is there any one brand you recommend? Total care? What about toothpaste? What do you recommend? Lastly soft vs medium toothbrush. Thanks thumbs up.
@holistichygiene
@holistichygiene Год назад
I personally hate most all mouthwashes. A few good ones I recommended area Closys (can use 2x daily for 30+ seconds), a solution of 50/50 water to peroxide-30 second rinse only 1x per day. Or oxy fresh, which can be found online. All others contain too many chemicals and alcohol that end up killing all the bacteria, good and bad. We want the good ones to stick around. Toothpaste, I editing a video on right now. But again, Closys or Colgate cavity protection. Simple and effective. And always soft tooth brush 😷🦷
@bonniezhou4215
@bonniezhou4215 2 года назад
What about adding mouth wash to the water pick? Especially for the infected areas?
@holistichygiene
@holistichygiene 2 года назад
It is not effective because mouthwash has multiple chemicals that kill all the good bacteria along with the bad. Water works extremely well. But if you want an extra boost of oxygen, which kills the bad bacteria, add 2-3 capfuls of hydrogen peroxide.

Electric. I love a Sonicare, but the research shows Sonicare and Oral-B are equal in efficacy

Can gum pockets shrink when you have bone loss, where your gum goes much deeper between teeth? Thank you
@holistichygiene
@holistichygiene 2 года назад
Yes they can shrink. It all depends on how much boneless, where your gum tissue currently is, and how much infection/inflammation is present. If the gums are inflamed, the gums swell. Once all the infection is removed, plaque, bacteria, tartar, the gums can heal and they do shrink to an extent.
