I love that damien is a creepy demon fresh out of hell itself and when he's on screen with Omni man you're scared for the demon. Omni man is such a great villain
@@londomollari1082 What I meant in general is that when everyone else in a story is looking at a situation with one set of priorities and motivations, having someone come at the situation with different ones changes the dynamics and makes the audience think. In this particular case, throughout Season One almost everyone's question and concern is, Why did Omni-Man do this? Does he have a good excuse, a justification? Damien Darkblood's position is that it doesn't matter. Nolan's act was evil, that makes him evil, and evil must be exposed and punished if justice is to be served.
I love 2 things about Damien's effects 1) that the room he enters always gets chilly 2) And that it's like he is always there, just invisible to people oblivious of his existance
maybe he has no true body, just a manifestation in the plane of the living 🤔 so he can't be killed, just sent to hell. and a result of the manifestation it sucks energy out of our plane, thus it becomes cold. would be cool to have superheroes fight against a magical enemy
@@gadunka888 This sounds cool, but we see one of Cecil's men shove Darkblood while he's being escorted to the ritual site. Damien also physically interacts with things. He's not a specter, he just teleports.
@@RatchetandSly yeah that's very true. maybe he's like a lich, you have to destroy his real self in hell or something to finally kill him. the creators said in an interview they wanted to add a sideplot where mark goes into hell to seek Darkblood's help so maybe we will find out in s2
@@possesedcake5422 but wait that doesn’t necessarily mean Darkblood told Omni man to go to hell, maybe he simply suggested that he might find out why Darkblood doesn’t want to go back 🧐
@@FriedHedgehogBalls Yeah, but Damien's smart enough to be able to solve normal crimes. Like sure, Hellboy solves PARANORMAL crimes, but he's a part of that world. I'd like to see him solve a regular crime, that wasn't caused by an easily identifiable mythical creature.
The existence of one metaphysical parallel plane of existence doesn't necessarily prove the existence of another specific metaphysical plane, even if the two planes are symbolically tied together through common mythological roots. And if heavenly dimensions do exist in that universe, why are the angels allowing something like three dozen different evil alien empires to conquer, enslave, and destroy inhabited planets?
@@CitanulsPumpkin The existence of a metaphysical plane in the first place is already mythological in nature so to conclude that a "heaven" or something similar exists is logical. It makes no sense to think that there is only a place of punishment within that universe but not a parallel metaphysical plane of reward.
I think Cecil getting rid of Darkblood was a major mistake. Omniman seems generally spooked by him and it seems that without his true name he cant really die only be removed from our plane by an exorcism of sorts. Exactly the type of thing you need against someone like Omniman
Had cecil kept darkblood, omni man would have suspected him as well Cecil at that time did not have a method to deal with omni man so just 1% of suspicion from him would end up in death
@@chrisgrudge6964 Oh tot's get that. He also wasnt listening to Cecil ether. But I still think simply going "hey bitch, stop bugging Omniman until we are ready, if you dont i will banish your fucking ass, i found your scroll" Then he still can keep darkblood in his back pocket
I believe a series starring Darkblood could be very interesting, but he'd need to be paired with another regular character who's his polar opposite, someone normal, upbeat, and more balanced in attitude.
@@ryannathan4323Hell is a realm, most likely a whole dimension separated from ours so we can think of it as something that encopasses the entire universe, maybe there's more than one type of hell and every living being go there after death if they have a "impure" soul.
It’s not good writing because of that, although it does sound cool. It’s good writing because it foreshadows Nolan having mixed feelings about his OWN old home as well: Viltrum.
@@SergioBocanegra Well if they ever do something like that. They should have a season dedicated entirely to origin stories. So not only would we Darkblood fans get more of the demon, but we can also get a look back on the major characters of the story, like Eve, Rex, Omni-Man, Cecil, or Allen.
Can we agree that the details of Darkblood's appearance are the coolest ever? Portly red-skinned thick-tailed demon, superhero body suit and skull cap, with a film noir detective's trench coat and fedora on top.
I like to think that line is foreshadowing the war against the Viltrumites. We know that Cecil is a man who does care for people, but is pragmatic enough to go to any length to protect humanity, no matter how unethical it can be. When shit starts to hit the fan, what measures will Cecil have to take in order to protect Earth? It will be his own personal Hell.
Dark blood is probably one of the few beings that unnerve Omni-Man, he’s an entity that even Omni-Man will never truly understand, and a look at what he might face when death reaches him.
The thing about Darkblood is that he cannot be bought, he can't be intimated and you can't change his mind. If you have blood on your hands, he's coming for your ass no matter what you do.
@@Mediados Darkblood is similar to the Dark Knight Joker and the Punisher who only cared about the mission and had nothing to lose or fear. These type of beings are very hard to manipulate or control.
Cecil explained himself pretty well, he KNEW Nolan did it, but he pretty much had to pretend to believe him so he still had the element of surprise. And he couldn't tell Darkblood that he knew because Darkblood, being poetic, might've revealed the information to Nolan as he did earlier "your wife doesn't believe you, how long until your son doesn't?" could've easily included Cecil suspicion. Cecil's organization doesn't seem to have the resources to stop Nolan or they need to know if there's a bigger threat. While its fucked up, and i hope Darkblood comes back, poltically the right move was to banish Darkblood because staying on Nolan's good side is more important.
I get the impression Cecil Steadman does a lot of things he doesn't like, because he believes he has to for the greater good. Like he tells Debbie, "It's why I hate me too."
A Demon that literaly seeks justice for others to save it's own soul is an AWESOME BACKSTORY CONCEPT AND I REALLY REALLY HOPE SOMETHING HAPPENS IN FOLLOWING SEASONS TO SEE THIS GUY COMEBACK! (And to any comic-reader out there that wanna say "not likely" just don't, in the comics he wasn't excised like this, the series is an ADAPTATION not a Recreation of the comics, different things can happen!)
@@SalmonBucket yes he's more relevant in the show. He shows up in the comic but his existence was just for a gag, showed up two times then left for the rest of the series lol. Glad they made him have more of a role in the show
I love how in the comics Darkblood is the LAST person to find out Omniman's the murderer. Literally goes to Cecil's secretary and says "I'm close to cracking this case, I can smell it." And she laughs saying everyone knows Omniman's evil, don't you watch the news? He just growls and slinks away 🤣
Why does everyone in Invincible hate Damien Darkblood? He's the reason why Omni-Man was discovered to be a villain in the first place. He deserves respect and credit and was helpful throughout the investigation.
@@danieldickson8591 okay but it's Hell. Who would wanna go back there. If it's like the actual biblical hell, then Darkblood would be tortured there. If it's like how a lot of stories portray hell, then he just doesn't want to dish out punishments for people. He's essentially being a good guy so he doesn't get tortured/get forced to torture people
Not really. See the dark room scene here? Demon couldn’t see Cecil. See when Cecil teleports into Oniman’s house? Omi could see him. Disproved Demon attacked, disproved Omi’s story
It’s honestly sad how Cecil gets angry when Damien tells him one of the Guardians had to have killed them. It actually sounds like he doesn’t want to believe that Omni-Man actually killed the Guardians.
@@aritraroy6592 He needs to act as if he doesn't know, so things between him and Omniman stay the same, no need to be alarmed and suspect anything. He always knew, the thing he needed to know is "why he did it?" And how to defeat him
@@demospetsas7063 i highly doubt he knew from the very start otherwise he wouldn’t have gotten frustrated with Donald when they started the first investigation.
In this video, everything makes sense. He said "Demon only knows about black and white". Cecil knows who is the murder already, but accusing Nolan doesnt help. He has to act like He doesnt know, so that brought him more time to know how to stop him. (just like He said before he sent Darkblood to hell)
“You might have banished me today cecil! But i’ll be back tomorrow! And the next day! And the next day! _and the next day, and the next day_ *calls cecils phone* _and the next day, and the next day, and the next day._ ”
He was like a kid caught red-handed. He knew Damien had him pretty much cornered so all he could muster was some juvenile insult like a middle schooler trying to show he is not offended
It's such a distinctive look, though. Portly red-skinned thick-tailed demon, superhero body suit with a film noir detective's trench coat and fedora on top. Something you'd only see in a comic-book world.
I like it for that reason alone, personally. Makes him look more human with the hat on but when he takes it off, makes him look less humanoid and more something 'other', especially with the jump suit thing. What personally annoyed me was when he was in his office with his hat on. Like who wears their hat indoors in the comfort of their own space?
I know this is a video Damien Darkblood, but every interaction with Cecil(and by extension Donald) makes me realize why humans are bad ass enough to stand up to Omni-Man and the rest of the Viltrumite Empire. Sheer determination and will in front of an impossible situation. To be human is to fight to survive.
It's a classic convention in a lot of fiction, that a few people understand how terrifying the universe really is outside of the mundane world the rest of us live in, and are brave and determined enough to strive in the shadows to protect us from it.
@@plaguedoctor_139 - True. Especially when you consider Cecil has all the quality and the powers of a member of the O5 Council if not the Administrator.
In these universes, Humans are basically the "hold my beer, I got this" folk. They'll try crazy shit, nearly kill everyone in the process and still walk away thinking "we gotta try that again..." You think they have these sort of problems on planets such as Flaxan?

So nobody finds it weird that the killer left just one guy barely alive when he wanted to kill all of them? I think that fact alone would've made things way easier.
What America Chavez said. Him being the sole survivor and how efficiently the Guardians were killed certainly means it's at least a possibility in one's head that Nolan was the killer, but the brutalised state Nolan was in makes it also seem likely (especially since everyone trusted Nolan) that Nolan was also a victim of the attack who survived solely by the fact that he's the strongest being on Earth.
I'd bet good money Cecil suspected the truth from the start. It's why he came down so hard on Darkblood to drop the investigation. He guessed where it would lead, and how badly Omni-Man would react. Cecil needed time to prepare for that.
@@danieldickson8591 Cecil suspected it from the start, Issue with Damien Darkblood is that he would talk too much once he figured it out, which he would've.

5:34 such an amazing scene but this line got me really rooting for Damien. He feels like the only person who genuinely creeped out Nolan even if only a little.
The character is more of a reimagining of The Question than anything. Sure he supeficially looks like Hellboy, but he's closer to Etrigan in backstory and what not. He's also more of a Question parody than a Rorshack parody because Rorshack was far too much of a bigoted misanthrope.
I think Cecil knew exactly who killed the Guardians as soon as he saw the scene. What he needed to know was why Nolan did it and what he planned to do next. Darkblood was threatening to expose Nolan as the killer but Cecil was, by his own admission, playing for time. So long as he kept up the charade of "looking for the killer" he could keep an eye on Nolan and find a way of stopping him. He even tried to communicate to Darkblood that he was in over his head but the Demon Detective didn't listen. Tough break, but he was given a chance to listen.
I wouldn't say the Demon detective was in over his head he was just to good at his job making him a threat to everyone, Cecil said he needed to keep things gray to buy time but Damien only saw things as black and white
@@kringle7804 i think it´s more like cecil went for the long play to know if there is an even bigger threat than just omni man Darkblood´s actions were too immediate, and even then the question would have remained if damien himself knew about nolan and exposed his actions how would he stop him/bring him to actual justice?
There’s something about Damien’s outfit that intrigues me. Under the coat it looks like he’s wearing a jumpsuit a technology based civilisation would use. This makes me think that perhaps hell in Invincible isn’t just a brimstone fire location completely supernatural but may in fact also have hyper advanced technology or uses energy mistaken for magic, kind of like Hell from Doom
My theory on his white suit and the white mesh on his head (shown when he removes his hat) is that it allows Damian Darkblood to travel to the human realm. Would explain why he always has it on.
Maybe he doesn't like the idea of him possible going to hell for being a atheist. Or maybe he finds it insulting that he doesn't believe in beings like him.

@@FriedHedgehogBalls The only logical explanation I find is that there is a hell but not much is known of how it works, and probably just borned demons live there.
Just because there is a parallel metaphysical plane of existence that looks like hell, and is populated by creatures that look like demons, does not mean that the modern American evangelical deffinitions and conception of hell are accurate. All they've established in the show is that there is a place demons come from and there are ancient magic rituals designed to combat demons because humans alive five thousand years ago didn't like demons. They didn't prove that human souls go to hell when they die, and they didn't establish the existence of heaven or god.

its not that he doesnt want to believe in it. Idk if someone else said it or not but to me its interesting that darkblood's existence is direct proof of their being an afterlife. Particularly the fact that there's both a good and bad place to go that is for eternity yet this seemingly doesn't present any internal conflict in nolan as he continues to do some pretty evil over the course of the series. You'd think that knowing hell exists would deter someone who has the capability for destruction to try to live peacefully as he may be alive for centuries but were talking eternity now.
"Say I'd see you in Hell, but there's a worse place waiting for you." Holy shit, it was his last line and yet probably one of the most badass of the series.
If the scp foundation existed in their universe (which im sure something like the foundation does exist in their universe, maybe a different name) im sure cecil would have alot of affiliation with them given his status and intellegence.
