When you and your only child have been abused so much by a man who won't let you divorce him is a horrible situation to be in. I went through it with my mom and I would forgive her for it (she didn't of course lol). I don't blame Deb at all.
@@ThemoviermakerTHANK YOU! I’ve literally been saying this so much. They were both emotionally abused by Dan. Manipulated so much. Deb was threatened so much when she tried to get out with Nathan. I get why she felt this was her last resort and everyone protected her after including Nathan. She explained and he immediately understood once she did. Nathan forgave Dan in the very end, I totally believe he would’ve forgiven his mom much sooner thinking of everything Dan put everyone in his life through.
@@jacobmccain8794 that doesn’t give you the right to try and murder someone... that’s saying Dan had every right to kill Keith for believing he tried to kill him. Murder is inexcusable.
@@eerroottaa oh not at all, but at the same time, I can understand and fathom how someone could be pushed to try and do so, in Deb’s case. Now I wouldn’t say murder is inexcusable. Of course there are cases where it happens to be done or people are pushed to it.
@@jacobmccain8794 yeah like Dan thinking Keith tried to kill him, Keith sleeping with the two women Dan ever loved, Keith being the father to Lucas Dan always wanted to be, Keith planning to kill Dan before Deb stopped him. If you have empathy for Deb’s pain you should have empathy for Dan’s. Granted I agree with you on how much Dan broke Deb, he was awful to her but him being awful was him crying out in pain. It’s sad how human beings treat each other when they are in pain. Even with Brooke and Peyton or Karen and Lucas. Karen blaming Lucas for Keith’s death because of her pain loosing him, Brooke blaming Peyton for both her mother’s dying while bullying her because of her pain towards her betrayal, Dan blamed Deb for his mistakes towards Karen & Lucas so he took out his failures on her. Deb didn’t deserve it, but Dan didn’t deserve death either. She was a horrible mother to Nathan and took out Dan’s pain towards her on him by neglecting him. Pain transfers to the other person and so forth. It’s a cycle, one that both Lucas and Nathan ended by befriending one another & being the brothers Dan & Keith should’ve been. To me that’s the story of one tree hill. Sorry for the long comment lol I just finished One Tree Hill and I can’t believe this masterpiece existed.
Thank you "OneTreeHillFamily." I never thought I'd see the day in which Dan and Deb happily reconciled. "Am I in hell?" That was pretty funny-glad to see them patch things up.
No stop blaming herself as in deb tried to kill him and he thought it was Keith but Keith was planning anyways to kill him but nobody knows that apart from the fans bc deb never told anyone so dan shoot Keith out of anger he wasn’t to forgive and let go of the guilt she’s carryinh
Dans Favorit was always Nathan and Nathan forhim because Dan saved Nathan a lot Times.Ok he was a Ass from Beginn but sometimes he do good things. I think nobody could forgive Dan! And Lucas at most not. Keith was Lucas Dad. He kill his best Person.
Honestly, while I do wish Chad had come back and played a more active role in helping save his brother, I don’t think there was ever any hope of Dan and Lucas having any kind of relationship. The most he could hope for is Lucas’s forgiveness, and frankly that’s a tall order that Lucas doesn’t owe him. I think he already got the most he can hope for where Lucas is concerned. Indifference.
No matter what happened during the show, Dan always loved Deb and Nathan much more than Karen and Lucas. It makes sense, they were the one coming to his deathbed and funeral...
I wouldn't say he loved them more but he did end up marrying Deb and raised Nathan his whole life while he missed out on 15 years of Lucas'. I would say that Nathan loved Dan more than Lucas due to that fact, but Dan definitely Lucas and wanted to be in his life just as much. Karen will always be his first and true love but she and Lucas basically removed him from their lives after knowing he killed Keith. Their was no room for Dan in their lives because Keith filled that hole.
I have to respectfully disagree. Dan genuinely loved Karen, but a pregnant high school girlfriend would have put a damper on all his plans. So he left her. Then he found himself in the same situation with Deb, but Deb came from money and was more of a trophy, so that’s the one he chose. You could tell Dan had regrets about leaving Karen and Lucas, but instead of owning up to them, he took them out on the family he abandoned instead, which only made them resent him more. He also was angry that the brother he had always been jealous of had stepped into the hole he left, acting as partner to the woman he loved, and child he had walked away from him. Most of Dan’s misery came from his own selfish choices and his pridefulness that kept him from admitting when he made mistakes or from trying to make amends. By the time he reached the mental and emotional awareness to try it was too late. He’d done things so unforgivable that neither Lucas or Karen were willing to hear him out. And understandably so. Dan was capable of love. It was just a very selfish kind of love. The reason Nathan was able to have mixed feelings is because he got to see both sides of Dan- Lucas only ever got one.
@@Book_Dragon2562 Dan showed up when Lucas was born but Keith was there with Karen and it pissed him off how Keith was always trying to steal Karen from him and how he was trying to be there like he was the father so Dan left. Dan tried to ask for custody but Karen denied it to him. He would have paid them child support too but Karen refused to let him. He wasn't allowed to see Lucas so what was he supposed to do? He still cared about him and kept those newpapers and pictures of him but he wasn't allowed to see him and he got angrier and angrier over the years as Keith tried to act like Lucas' dad. He wanted to be the one to do it but because of the unfortunate circumstances because of his actions as an 18 year old, he had to live this way.
@tisstaa "He got with deb knowing he left a pregnant girl behind" Lucas cheated on Brooke with Peyton too. Everyone makes mistakes especially when you are 18 and away at college. He didn't mean to get Deb pregnant, he was going to quit college and go back to be with Karen until Deb told him she was pregnant at the last second. He was angry because he knew Keith always was obsessed with Karen while they dated even. Dan used to be a good person and was put in a tough position when he accidentally got 2 girls pregnant and his annoying brother Keith tried to take his place. I would have been angry too if I was Dan. Keith also planned to kill Dan before Dan even thought about killing Keith. The only reason Keith didn't kill Dan was because he found out Deb was about to and he just let her do it. He didn't stop her and he planned to do it himself so that's as bad as attempting to do it imo and Dan confronted Keith and Keith didn't deny trying to kill him so Dan shooting him was justified imo. Keith should have denied it at least and he wanted to kill Dan anyway so he's not a great person.
I didn’t know she was the mother of the girls who played Melanie in The Babysitter the girl who plays faith in the young and the restless and who played Lauren in the gifted and since I watched all of these my mind was blown
I remember the first season.. I would laugh so much at them... she slaped him across the face and told him to get out or I'll kill you in you sleep!!! lol... and then him now "Am I in hell?" this was good.
No matter what Dan did I was never able to forgive him for killing Keith. Not the fact that he saved Jamie not the fact that he saved Nate. No I was actually mad that Haley and Nate forgave him in the end. Killing Keith was unforgivable. Plus while yes the dealership fire played into that some I believe the bigger part of it was that Dan wanted Keith away from Karen.
Killing Keith was unforgivable to most, and most never forgave him. Not Nathan, not Haley, and not anyone associated with that tragedy except one (Keith himself in the afterlife). No matter what Dan did to make up for killing, he couldn't change that. However, the beauty of what Dan achieved at the end of his life was that he managed to give Nathan and Haley a reason to love him. He had lost Lucas, and by extension Peyton and Karen, for good. But Nathan was different. Dan raised Nathan, and gave him the foundation to succeed in basketball. He also saved Nate's son Jamie, and he did everything in gods name to protect Nate's family. Even at the cost of his own life. In the end, that kind of unconditional love was enough to thaw away some of the hate Nathan and Haley felt toward him. Having that final talk with Nathan about Keith's death was so important because it brought closure and understanding to a horrific tragedy. So although they couldn't forgive him for Keith, Nathan and Haley did come to think of Dan as not just a monster. They did come to see that he had good in him, that he had truly loved his family. That's why Haley cried so heavily at Dan's death bed. She finally realized the good in the man, but it was too late. Nevertheless, through his heroic actions Dan had won back a part of his younger son's love, and he will finally be remembered more fondly in death by some in the Scott family. That was Dan Scott's greatest and most rewarding accomplishment in life.
multiplemike u forget he saved Haley’s life as well plus Haley was the first person to realize Dan might have good in him by letting him come to Jamie’s party she says “she did it for Jamie” but I think she wanted to reward him for rescuing him
You do know Keith in the afterlife forgave Dan right which is why he made him his plus one. Go and actually watch the show killing Keith made Dan a better person and Dan ended up doing good and he killed Keith because he though Keith tried to kill him
Although Dan was villainous. Keith wanted to kill dan and even brought a gun. Also deb tried to kill Dan. It's only because dan actually succeeded that everyone hates him. Deb got off (excuse the pun) scott free. Also keith slept with Deb. I feel like they should have forgave dan when he saved everyone for thr 10th time
willisapril Dan always loved Karen, he just got greedy. I don't think he loves Deb like you're supposed to love your wife, but he did care for her. Rachel, I'm not convinced he was in love but she just played him.
I think he loved Karen the most and thats why he got so jealous when Keith was dating her and they were planning an engagement, then again when Karen announced she was pregnant. It was like he thought he could 'make up' for Lucas in some sick twisted way, and be the man Keith was by raising his child. Deb I think he cared for in ways, but their relationship was so dysfunctional and I think he felt obligated to marry her. Rachel I don't think he ever loved - and I think he knew that she didn't love him either and was only with him for the money.
Dan got off way too easily. Little prison time and forgiven for the selfish cold blooded murder of his brother. Not to mention the decades of emotional abuse. He gets praised as a hero in the end for doing the bare minimum of fatherhood
