Went to Rye House for a GP1 race, in wet weather and changing conditions, with lots of people crashing and spinning, and even a disqualification for dangerous karting! It was absolute mayhem, I hope you enjoy the video...
Also, was supposed to have 3 views here, but unfortunately one of my gopros doesn't like me atm...

Karting is one of the most fun race types you can have if you ask me. Cheap maintenance overall and cheap pricing as well. All the rules of regular racing such as "slow in, fast out" definitely implies here indeed. Plus you don't need to worry too much when accidentally hitting someone becuase damage is so minimal that you can just keep on racing afterwards even if you spun out quite hard. In here tho key thing to remember is that you run dry tires no cracks in them what so ever so like JB showed here, taking the outside line can be faster in most corners when the inside is all wet. Can't wait til I get the opportunity to kart again, great video as always!

Exactly that - I’m away at the moment teaching kids to kart, and it’s so rewarding as you see them start to understand the basics of racing in a pretty safe environment, but it’s the same principles they’d have if they carried on racing into being adults!

Just saw this video now and pace is really good! What i've learned over the years of working at the fastest rental kart track in Denmark is that when we were driving in the wet and using our rain kart with rain tyres the outer line was about 4-8 seconds faster than the ideal dry weather line, even when we were driving in these conditions as you are with our dry weather karts the outer line was always optimal for pace and lap times, i know there is a difference when you have to defend. The reason was the amount of rubber the dry karts put down during the sunny days was so high the it became an ice road ones the rain hit. Just my 1 cent on the matter, love your content!

@@CarsWithJB Also do you plan on trying other go-kart tracks out at all? Not too sure of any others personally, as I only know of the one inside of the Grand Pier building at Weston-super-Mare.

1:09: "standing water" whenever i've tried to make water stand it seemed to fall over. the water actually appeared to be TOTALLY unable to stand in any meaningful way. so i reckon you mean 'water laying' or puddles. WATER DOES NOT STAND

Yo ngl Ryhe house is a pretty lit' track I've been there before.... but I think I'll stick to BuckMore Park. And also ngl I'd love to try race in wet conditions bc I've never been able to since for the British weather (being very unpredictable) every time I've gone outdoor karting its been dry conditions.

Where is this track? Do they supply gear, and what are costs like? I love the carting content and would love to have a go. Ps I loved the drifting.

It’s in Hoddesdon, not far from Essex, and these GP1 sessions cost £85 - and they supply all the gear you need! Just wear trainers 🤙🏽

@@unlikehour 1) Hertfordshire, couple miles or so north of Waltham Cross / Waltham Abbey / Cheshunt. Close to Essex boundary. 2) 👍🏻 3) £85 - not clear whether you’re surprised or shocked! Seems like a decent, very fair price to me for what you get.

@@jensaugust743 “*my fault as I hit the back*” and visibly raised my hand to apologise lol - it was a miscalculation on my part, given the line I thought they would stay out wide and didn’t anticipate them coming across towards the wet stuff, so my fault, but point remains it still can be annoying making your way around beginners as they can be difficult to read 😅

You can see the other guys that started just behind you on the wet right side of the starting grid got as good a traction off the line as the dry line guys on the left. Traction was not the issue for your bad start. You lost so much time off the start grid because you immediately steered left, retarding your acceleration due to massive front tyre scrub.

the start of the race. clearly it's not a 'too much wheelspin' or traction problem. these karts aren't powerful enough to actually spin the wheels. plus the guy behind you on the same line got you off the line. so clearly, it's not traction that gave you a bad start
