it’s the bears territory. they were there first before persecution, hunting, trapping, and poisoning by hunters killed them all. so those people living in the area have moral obligation to bring back grizzlies. how would these people feel if the bears did the same thing to them and forced them of the area. just because we humans are more intelligent and have guns doesn’t give us the right to kill off wild animal, take over their territory and impose our way of life on their land. the native americans were able to coexist with these wild animals for thousands of years without causing it to go extinct. so residents living in the area will have to learn to coexist otherwise consider moving closer to city and stay away from wild nature places if you have no respect for wild animals.

I'd like to see the detailed studies regarding how many people will be expected to be killed by the bears. This is a serious and realistic question, the results of which should be decided by the local people that will be impacted.

Judging by where I am a the headwaters of the mighty Columbia, none. We have lots of grizzly, black bears, cougar, and the wolves are up towards Golden. All in ranch country, almost never a problem We don't set off their triggers or chop up their habitat. AND we have thousands of climbers, hikers, bicycle pants people. Why is it that once stateside it all goes sideways??? Oh, and that' sNOT your main problem. Grew up in LA: look in the mirror.

This is my theory & only my theory as to why they are really pushing this Grizzly Bear thing; Washington State in the closet State to Alaska, Alaska is most likely the spot Russia would come in for the attack, I think the Military is doing something in Alaska & had to relocate some Bears because the Military is building something on those Bears Territory, so they took the bears to the closet State to Alaska, to make sure the Bears wouldn't be back. Just my own personal opinion.

It’s too dangerous to introduce grizzlies in WA. As they grow in population, there won’t be much preventing grizzlies from migrating into cities, towns, and agricultural communities endangering the lives of people/livestock/farm animals/pets...best to let grizzlies populate/roam free in a large remote area like AK

I am worried for the safety of the grizzly bears that are going to be dropped into the cascade mountain range region and be surrounded by hunters who will be looking for any reason to kill them. The regular food supply for these bears will be whitetail deer and Roosevelt elk. If they are on the west side of the cascade range, they will hopefully find salmon spawning grounds. But if they are indeed existing on the western side of the cascade range, They will encounter a large population of human beings. Those human beings will complain that they were attacked, Then forest rangers will be charged with hunting them down and killing them. I think that this is a recipe for disaster with respect to the grizzly bears. Grizzly bears need to exist in a very remote area very far away from the human population. There are many places up in canada where they might not ever encounter human population. Then of course, there is alaska where they have a very large area to exist without ever seeing any human beings. If grizzly bears felt that they could exist in the cascade range, They would have already entered the area long ago before we had any time to even Think about reintroducing them to the area.
@xMrRedx4
@xMrRedx4 8 месяцев назад
A lot of wrong in this comment. First, these bears would be under the ESA and would not be hunted. Second, these bears would primarily feed on insects and berries, no ungulates (not to mention Roosevelt elk aren’t found in the north cascades). Lastly, they haven’t entered the cascades of WA because the population along the border is very small. Introducing 5-10 would help create a population there

I used to frequent the nether reaches of the North Cascades (Pasayten Wilderness area) back in the early 70's. Hiked areas that were to remote to get maintained much if at all. Back then there were around 4 known grizzlies in the area. Last I heard in the 80's it was up to 15 or so. Google says we have 500 living in the State?! It also says there are no grizzlies in the North Cascades! I think the bears will do as they please roaming wherever. Remember, a bear can travel 50 miles in a day!

@TheErik249
@TheErik249 8 месяцев назад
@user-zp7jp1vk2i It's very odd how you refer to something that everyone else refers to as property. My comment is is referring to the current environment in western washington. The population density on the western and eastern slopes of the cascade mountains has quite a few hunters and hikers frequenting the forests. The hunters are all armed and ready to shoot just about anything. The hikers are unaware of the danger that exists in the forest. Whatever hikers are mold by cougars or bears, Forest Rangers will hunt them down and eradicate them. This is why I fear for their safety. No matter what happens the bears are going to lose. Do you understand that?
