I love how professional Matrix sounds, whether talking through the briefing or sitrep-ing in the heat of battle... he's as calm and cool as Michael Fish!!
I don't know if they can be modeled, but ports like these had "flak ships" (vorpostenboote) in the harbor. Old fishing boats with Luftwaffe gunnery crews and AA guns waiting for the chance to shoot at Allied aircraft.
We watched das boot in German when it was screened in a cinema like 5 times. There was that cinema which showed movies in the original language (English, German mainly) late at night, and we, being foreign language students at the uni, went over there and watched them. Beer and smokes were allowed. It was early 2000s, when Russia was Russia and not Mordor yet...
Great vidéo. I don't comment very often but i'm a huge fan of your attack scénarios. As someone Who regularly goes to Lorient, i was Wondering why i couldn't recognise it in the game fotages and then i paid attention to the map and understood xD
Please, more like this! How about a replay or similar recreation but with a wider range of aircraft? Maybe with Tempests doing the AAA-stuff? Anyway, great fun, Thanks GR!
The port U-96 sailed from and returned to was La Rochelle on the Bay of Biscay, not the port Matrix stated. You might not have it on a DCS map, it wasn't as major as the otherr Biscay ports in Occupied France.
@cap I have a book. Total war 2006. Written from 1990 perspective. Many battles in it but an air battle especially peaks my interest. Its essentially a Russian dupe where they suckered in nato fighterbombers and launch Sam's at them from underneath. It's really cool the way it's written trying to evade the Sam's. Might be worth a go.
Can you model a fight between four Russian SU 34s accompanied by SU 27s or SU 35s flying low and slow to avoid being engaged by patriot against mirage 2000s with MICA missiles in patriot SAM coverage.
Yes, it's very wise for taxiing on narrow taxiways, especially on semi-prepared strips. Otherwise the pilot has to weave a lot to keep clearing the space ahead, and that can take up a lot of space which you don't have on a forward base
Would that be a "Warbird Malfunction"? 😂😂 That Spit is a pretty plane. The only one I've gotten to see was a Griffon Engined bubble canopy model at the Evergreen air museum. The same one that has the Hughes H-4 "Spruce Goose". If I had one of these billionaires money I would build a modern version of the "Spruce Goose". The Baskotia Aviation BA-4 Argentovis with eight of the same engines at the C-130J and modern materials (aluminum and carbon fibre).
Saw this when it came out. Right at the quiet most tense moment on the movie (IYKYK) a giant fly flew into my throat and I had a coughing and hacking fit trying to bring it up. It went on so long and must’ve sounded scary they practically stoped the movie. Glass of water helped. Fly scratched the h$&& out of my esophagus. I apologized to everyone when the lights came up. Embassy theater NYC. 72nd and broadway. Amazing movie.
Hey Cap! I was wondering if you might be interested in covering the coordinated NATO TOT missile strike against Syrian chemical weapons facilities following the 2018 use of chemical WMDs on civilians. After watching “The Operations Room”’s video on it yesterday, especially how an attack from several directions at once would have effected Assad’s air defense’s ability to detect and target the TOT missile swarm. Can throw in some Raptor food from Syria too to spice things up?
DCS is just so bad at WW2 as far as core program mechanics. I have spent days trying to use scripting and mission editor tricks to overcome it. Ships with massive amount of pure Hit Points with no other form of damage model. AI planes that just take shot after shot without dying. You can use up a total load of MG ammo on a single plane with it only to fly off and eventually glide to the ground and die. Ground fire that will have shred a plane in seconds. Its like DCS want you to have a bad time always with anything other than BVR missile combat.
@@supermilo the work they did do only address some things. May not cover all units. Inconsistent results. Setting for it are not transparent enough in editor. Still have to use trigger zone tricks to get the look and feel you want in mission. Sense of danger with tracer fire all over but not everything focused on the one player plane. At this point I think I’ll be going back to IL-2. Its mission editor is a clunky voodoo garbage but at lest the warbird action is better.
