On Day 5 I hold tight on an island and wait for the windy weather to pass. Then on Day 6, The weather breaks enough where I can paddle over to Macoun Lake Lodge and talk to the owners. In our discussions I find out that no one uses the portages on the south end of the lake. Because of the high probability that the next 3 portages will be like my last 5, my knee being in poor shape, poor weather forecasted and being behind schedule; I make the decision to turn back. Thanks Macoun Lake Lodge for the ride back to the portage!
