Recently left linehaul and haven't had too much experience backing, and turning tight corners- will their training help with that. Also is local and regional pretty much the same work, meaning you'll be unloading at all stops?
@@DaddyJaguar I live in California, and I was a local driver. I would go 65-67 when I could, and I never got pulled over despite passing by multiple cops
I lived in California my whole life when i made deliveries i would go 65-68mphs and have hwy patrol pass me never got pulled over. Just stay in the first two lanes and dont keep lane changing and go around all the cars it draws attention.. also use google maps so you can see the speed traps coming up and you will be fine.. google maps has saved my ass from speeding tickets for sure its a game changer..
What you don't see is how the trailer was loaded when he arrived at his first stop. Majority of all Dollar General stores are blind side backing. Don't be fooled by what he is showing you in this video, don't believe me? The next time you see a DG truck making a delivery take a look and talk to the driver. All of the stores aren't layed out as the one shown I hated the stores located in strip malls because the pavement was broken and you're pushing rolltainers with bad wheels and torn nets. Especially when it's loaded with dog food or water or sugar or cleaning products(sometimes there's a combination of these). You're unloading in the rain, snow, 90 plus degree weather and sometimes in not so friendly environments so watch your back. If you run out of hours you have to spend the night at the store which is what i didn't like because there's no one around and at some stores the light over the freight door goes off. So you're completely alone in the dark on the side of the store.
😳what??? No way I’m not staying in the dark by myself overnight in the store in another state , I’m so sorry I’m glad that you showed this video you know what I’m holding my job application till further notice. 😢
I ran dollar tree for 3 years and the stores are nowhere near as structured as dg. I spent the night behind the store every other night. Delivered freight onto a gravity operated conveyor belt. I had to pick up every individual box by hand, sometimes 4200 pieces. DG isn’t that bad.
It just depends. For example, if you head out Monday depending on the size of the load you can be out 2-3 days (m-w or m-tues). You usually get 2 routes per week.
He could pulled in towards the door backed left then pulled straight and backed left again. Lol just saying more than one way to do things. Unless they are super busy then slow blind side would be better i guess.
I spoke to a recruiter today. She during training I would have to find my way home the weekends. Is that true because I live 8 hours away from the distribution center
I literally just applied for DG and it’s 15 stops a week =3 Stops a day You get $60 per store 0.54 cent a mile and you will drive 1500-1800 miles per week And it’s a $20 pay rate (can’t remember what the $20 is for…I have 3 day orientation in 2weeks in San Antonio Tx… They pay for your rental car&Hotel to get there and $200 a day …and you will ride with a trainer for 5-8 days…then you will get your own truck and it’s all on you after that.. I’m from Dallas Tx and work for the Ardemore,Oklahoma location..
Hey bro. What do you do when you finish your route early in the week? Do you help move containers at your home office? If yes, how much do you get paid for those hours? Thanks brother. I just completed the hiring package and they’re checking my fmcsa score and other background checks.
Hey brother. Just got my license from 160 driving academy in San Marcos. I applied online but waiting for an interview appointment to open up. Who can I contact to get the ball rolling? Is your main hub Cal Turner drive??? Let me know please
I applied for the DG in San Antonio also and it took them forever to get an interview with me. I had to schedule 2 because they never contacted me one time. I had about 3 months exp at the time and they ghosted me after the interview. I don't think there's anyone you can directly call.
@@SilverbackRQM thanks for the reply brother. They finally set up a 20 minute phone interview with me. It was all done via an automated text message. Pretty unorganized but we’ll see how it goes
NOT TRUE my friend...depending on your Terminal location, you can make 70 to 100k+ a year if you're a "Hustler"!!! Touch Freight drivers (ie...DG, Sysco, US Foods, McLanes and the HAZMAT guys) are "BALLERS" 💰💰💰

I have over 20 years truck driving experience. I tried working for dollar general a year ago.. they are absolutely the worse company I have ever had the misfortune to work for, they had their heads so far up each others azzes (the trucking managers) they were talking out of each others mouths... They didn't know a darn thing about how to take care of drivers, they lied constantly and only cared about their own little group of buddies, and I swear they absolutely HATED the drivers they were supposed to be supporting..... And they thought they were god's gift to trucking..... and don't get me started on drivers services, the ones who's job it is to take care of issues like finding a driver stranded on the side of the road a hotel and such.... get this.... the drivers services CLOSE at 7 pm!!!!!!! and none of the managers/dispatchers answer their company provided cell phones!!!! I would rather work for swift, lol...
You're a better man than me, bro.. i drove for Dr. Pepper and the amount of lifting and relifting the heavy ass merchandise over a 14-hour days.. i was local and i hated every single day. Quit after 4 months..shit pay for the amount of strain on the body..
After working for Pepsi dollar general ain't shit im in there five six times a week trust me merchandising is way harder then dropping off carts to the back door and picking up emptys
Im applying with them now. What was your avg weekly pay if you don’t mind? People are saying all kinds of numbers. Some saying grossing 1200 and some saying well over 2k a week.
