Props to my favorite football player of all time. That kid was the funnest to watch. Steelers might not win the game. But the other team knew they was getting beat. You know you're a bad man whenever your name is in the rule book and there's your highlight reel as a go by. Like that man changed the game. Receivers became the hunter. Hall of Fame hitting if he never caught one pass. The football playing football player of all time. With collection of cleats that he knocked guys out of. Like he's the only guy I ever seen where you see him hit a guy his feet and the cleats stay on the ground. Like the most hitting hits on any highlight reel in a sport about hitting. Loved that dude.

DeBarge is very talented and El is still active today. He sang with Fourplay on the song "After The Dance", but my favorite is "You Wear It Well". "I Like It" was released about the same time as "Somebody Else's Guy" by Jocelyn Brown. I think you've reacted to Martha Wash and Cheryl Lynn before, Empress. Well, Jocelyn Brown is another powerful female vocalist that didn't get enough promotion.

OMG Empress you are killin it with your reactions to my Thriller Pack picks❤️😊. So this one I would not necessarily classify as 80s cheese. I just absolutely loved this song back in the 80s and still do! El’s VOCAAALS sound so good on this track, especially with all those falsetto runs at the end! This is truly an R&B classic in my opinion. Oh and “Love Me In A Special Way” is the other Debarge song that you reacted to that I think you were trying to think of and that one is another fire bop! 🔥

(7:18) .... ...I knew El's yell at the end of the tune would SEND Empress!! ...ha-HAAA!! ....O-K.... this was DeBarge's 2nd single from their 1982 LP...The 1st single, "Stop! Don't Tease Me" was a moderate hit, but, THIS one!??? ....ba-BOOM!! - ....Stayed at #2 R&B for 5 weeks (couldn't hit #1 because of that damn "Billie Jean", staying at #1 R&B for 9 weeks), and stayed on the charts for SEVEN MONTHS, and hit #31 Pop; (Black) Women went CRAAAAAAZY for El's high Vocals...He sort of ushered in the fey, "Love Man" era, where effeminate -looking light-skinned Men were ALL the rage in R&B..... - ...The next single "All This Love" was just as big; DeBarge actually had these 2 tunes in the Top 20 R&B, for Two Months! ...They only had ONE MONTH in 1983, where they didn't have a hit on the charts, because "Time Will Reveal" was released, in that interim! ...they were on the verge of SUPERSTARDOM......

DeBarge, what an awesome pick! I know you love female voices, you might like to try some Joni Mitchell. Amelia is great. Help Me was a hit and great. She's sophisticated and sets a reflective mood, beautiful unique voice. She has a ton of songs, just do me a favor and don't do Clouds or Yellow Taxi, they're great but overplayed IMO. I'll be shot for saying that. ;-)

You are so adorable! No Jheri curls amongst those siblings…they are biracial so the curly hair is natural. I love your reaction…I was in junior high when this song and album was released, and the simplicity of the song and the smooth harmonies were so unique at the time that the song took off. I have two recommendations since you like the group…check out their older brothers in the band Switch, and you’ll hear where El’s influence came from…their brother Bobby. Please react their song to I Call Your Name, and listen to El singing the intricate bvgs on that track. Also, El had a pretty successful solo career…his Gemini and Heart, Mind and Soul albums are my favorites. There’s many to choose from, but I would start with Turn The Page, Real Love, Can’t Get Enough, and It’s Got To Be Real. Another Debarge cut I didn’t hear you mention that’s worth a reaction…Time Will Reveal.

OMG, Empress. Get outta my head! The dynamic difference between Randy's early verse and El's chorus vocals is EXACTLY like The Jackson's Randy to Michael transition on "Can You Feel It". Also check the dynamic change from Valerie Simpson to Chaka Khan on Quincy's "Stuff Like That" same difference.
