I think the most hilarious thing about all this is that not one person has actually tried to write a joke or come prepared. Like, why do these hacks continue to willingly embarrass themselves by coming up with nonsense "off the dome" 😂 Edit: Yes, some are reading off phones but I meant no prep before the show, not right before they go up. But it was explained that Def did this intentionally, not letting them prep. It's still funny that they chose to participate while being so bad at it.

Some of them tried but at least one of the comedians only found out he was supposed to be roasting the day before (he wasn’t asked, but just saw Dennis announced he’d be performing). Then the premise of the roast is that you don’t know who you’ll be paired against to roast, so improvising and going off superficial stuff like looks is almost a requirement. The comedians shouldn’t have agreed to this and they defend the shows (so some fault is on them), but Dennis basically set them up to fail with how he’s running these things.

Def Noodles sounds like a crabby teacher, "I won't move on until I have everyone's attention" (I say as a teacher). Just saying, it's a minimally efficient tactic and is always a mood dampener. Except that teachers know not to shove their students when they get frustrated. And there is a lot of potential to ease tensions and de-escalate situations with comedy, but it requires skill and practice.

So here’s my thing. I was a fan of Def Noodle’s’s’s when he had the cat ears and the goofy glasses and the cross-eyed reactions to stupid. When he doffed the character and promised he was dedicating himself full time to standup comedy, I was cautiously optimistic. I’m a longtime fan of standup; just recently remembered that an “Evening at the Improv” was a club I used to go to and not just the name of a show. The shows I saw went so fast and so funny I can barely recall any of the jokes. Even an actual guy I knew, who had a regular gig I only saw once, had so much funny going so fast I could only grab and remember one of his jokes (The Beatles as a surfer group. Big hit: Hey Dude.) What I remember from Def N’s “comedy” show was basically a bunch of F bombs, some of which got him banned off a platform bc they were even worse than the usual F bombs; and a whole lotta references to, how shall I say, eatpussy-eatpussy-eatyomamaspussy-Detroit-pussy. Also the camera work was just nonexistent. Dennis? Hon? What you are calling a “comedy club”? I’m calling “the room off the janitor’s closet at my junior high.” “..with a brick-paper backdrop.” I am more disappointed than entertained. Honestly.

On comedy central UK the roast battles were no holds barred but had black, queer, disabled and other underrepresented groups. Some of it was brutal but the funniest thing I have ever seen. It was on a completely even footing. When you can watch a stand up comedian with cerebral palsy left unable to speak because she's laughing so hard at a joke someone made about her drooling you're doing it right. Worth noting that Salvo was a booked comedian, he is listed as the headliner on the promo materials as Keemstar's Employee. He was also refused entry on arrival as Def hadn't put him on the door list, so that didn't help. Even so, I agree with your overall thoughts on both of them. This is such a convoluted story, with lots of Def Noodles lore. 😂

Dennis is suing a young woman 15 years his junior bc she talked about a single bad experience she had at a job even though she never mentioned who it was she used to work for. He’s also suing someone for a single joke tweet made about Def Noodles the character. ETA: everyone is afraid of being sued by Dennis, due to his reputation for initiating litigation, because even this morning he said in his video that he’s not going to sue everyone even though he could because he’s “nice”

I want to put it out there; apparently Defnoodles himself begged for someone to come to his next show and cause commotion. Inabber has a clip of Def doing this in a stream or video. So, he asked for what he got. Idk. I didn't even know this guy until last week. He's not my cup of tea. I'll stick with Nick 💚💙💜 Edit: I also wanna say, Salvo seems just as shitty as Defnoodles.
