This is all so complicated that I cannot keep up with it. Whoever finally designs a DAC like this with a user-friendly interface is going to rule the world.
Maybe the DAC sounds superb, but the UI is awful. One or two knobs more on the front and the problem is solved That can't be too expensive. The way it works now is a poor design.
The lack of and !2S standard is quite frustrating, but your approach of having configurable pinout support is brilliant, regardless of the complexity of getting it set up correctly.
Hi Alvin. Thanks for the video. Is there a power cable you would recommend for the Ares 12th? I know you mentioned Gotham in another video but I couldn’t find the right Gotham/Lincoln power cables in stock. Thanks!

I bought a denafrips dac and I would like to buy an iris denafrips to connect my dac in I2s but I am afraid of the complexity of the treat to do, being French my English sucks.
The phase button changes the output phase 0/180 degree. I leave mine off (positive phase). You may trial and error to check which setting sounds best in your system. There is no hard rule here as this setting is merely meant to correct the output phase of the match with the individual system.
there is a secret 3d mode :just press the x8 button for 7 seconds then wait 5 seconds . then post an ad on ebay and get something decent instead .not generic, not a stepping stone to the next version. my old nuforce icon hd (350$ dac, i2s+ headphone amp) was a design masterpiece compared to any denafrips product and was also made in china. then they tried to make stuff smaller...those were the days...
i got the Ladder Shuman Dac and its not the same dac but i think its the same manufactur...but who cares xD. uhm the schuman got also xlr outputs but i habmve to say that the unbalenced outputs sound realy better. xlr doesnt sound good to rca. xlr was used a Nordost Valhalla 1 and the rca is used a Nordost Frey 1 rca cable. I also have to chance phase on xlr and change it back for rca and i was using only one connection at the time. only true balanced r2r dac have to have 4 ladders...not 2! this cant be true balanced. its like delta sigma dscs with only one dac chip...not realy true balanced.
