Hi Alvin. Would you recommend using the IRIS DDC with the Venus II 12 ed to have I2S input to Venus? Or would there be no benefits (or even loss of fidelity)??
thanks for the video! I recently received my Venus II (by the way, thanks for the great purchase experience) and i think I will end up with a DDC in the future. Any plan to build an upsampling version of it? USB input -> upsample using a selectable filter like in HQplayer -> output to the DAC in NOS mode
Very much enjoyed your review. I currently use a Node (N130) via USB to Ares II DAC, do you feel adding an Iris inline would further improve the sound quality?
Certainly, you may consider adding the Iris DDC in the chain. It will improve the sound quality of the system. You may find the following review of interest: twitteringmachines.com/review-denafrips-iris-usb-digital-to-digital-converter/
Hi Alvin, if one uses an iPhone as compared to a computer over usb, does one still benefit from using a ddc between the iPhone and the dac? I can understand the noise a computer generates but is that same noise level also generated from my iPhone? Thank you for answering my question. Regards.
I’m using the same set up , have you found any meaningful answer to this - is using a DDC with IPhone going to make any marked improvements to the sound.
Does the audio remain bitperfect while keeping a fixed 24 bit output of DDC to DAC ? Suppose I'm feeding 16 bit/44.1khz signal from my computer to your DDC then it would by default always upsample the signal to 24 bit/44.1khz as output ? So the whole purpose of NOS mode is defeated, Isn't it ?
As a Terminator owner, I've wondered if the USB processing in Iris or Hermes is better than the USB processing that is already in the Terminator. I don't want to just duplicate existing circuitry in an external unit.
If you stream music from a computer/streamer most of the time, you may consider adding the DDC. By adding the DDC, it cleans up the digital signal noise and the cleansed digital signal can be sent to the DAC via i2s interface.
