New York Yankees Captain and MLB Hall of Famer sits down with Legendary Broadcaster Jow Buck to talk about his legendary Yankees Career, how he almost quit baseball, and what being clutch feels like. #yankees #newyorkyankees #derekjeter
I was at Greensboro stadium 🏟 watching him play minor league before the Yankees ever called him up, Got an autographed baseball ⚾️ of him and the rest of his teammates for Greensboro. That’s Greensboro NC.
I have seen some of these interviews of this show. By far Jeter seems like the most charismatic and loved of all guests. This guy is awesome from any angle.
He used to live near my office on 1st Ave near the United Nations and everyone loved him in the neighborhood---always polite and acknowledged everyone who said 'hi' to him. His respect for his parents and his work ethic are such an inspiration!
Have been a Yankee fan since l was 10. I am now 75. I still can't wait for that smell of spring when baseball begins. My grandson took me to my first major league and Yankees game. Derek Jeter was my hero. Such a kind and wonderful man. Wish all players could be likle.him. l did not get to see Derek but l did get to see the Yankees play and go to Yankee Stadium.
The best baseball player I’ve ever seen. Wasn’t tooly all over the diamond, but man he cared about winning. He was clutch in big games. He had great hands and I’ve yet to see anyone drive the ball inside out and the other way better, before or after him. Great player. The best.
My favorite player after Reggie I’m 55 years old I grew up on Gerard ave and 161th street from 1976 to 1998 when my parents moved to the suburbs we would all watch the games on the roof in the old Stadium 🏟️ what incredible memories lifelong Yankees fan Derek Jeter handle himself like a true professional with dignity & grace!
💯 RESPECT !!! Lifelong Braves fan here but , I'll say this. Never have I seen anyone in uniform with such drive and natural leadership. Never forget watching him run towards the stands after a foul ball. Anyone could see it would fall in the seats. 2-3 rows in , dude dove headfirst , came out with a shiner , I thought he'd break his neck. Unreal. Don't remember if he caught it or not. Didn't matter. He had my respect from that moment on !!!!
@@YOUNGPADAWON dude, you're one lucky man. Never got to see him play live. We're u cringing like I was as he never even tapped the brakes. That's balls to the wall literally. True leader ! 👍
It was really fun to watch and actually see derek looking very relaxed and enjoying himself and above all else smiling alot and responding to questions very pleasantly and smiling i loved it it really showed a completely different side of him because once he became the Yankee captain in 2003 he was always 100 percent extremely serious especially being interviewed he never ever smiled again compared to when he first came up he was smiling alot back then but when he got too serious i didnt like seeing that but to see him now smiling laughing joking around like he was doing that was very enjoyable to watch him like that and a very fun experience as well God bless you derek please continue to laugh smile and enjoy yourself you truly have earned that in my book ❤😃👍
@@CarmonBenford that's good to know about Joe Buck and how he treats his guests makes them feel very comfortable and relaxed that's a rare gift to have Joe Buck is a true professional a credit to his craft of interviewing and talking to people I salute him 👍🙂
I would like For Derek Jeter To have fun a loosen up when he is a sports analyst with A-Rod and David Ortiz he should have fun with the Job like they do, he should make funny remarks dance, He just to serious
Being born in 1990 this guy made me love the game of baseball. Even though I was a lefty my batting stance and everything was just like his, approach too up the middle the other way. Always loved everything he is about.
You know he’s classy when the worst thing the media said he did was AS A SINGLE MAN, giving the same chick a good night, after date gift more than once and didn’t realize he’s hung out with her before. Never in trouble. Carried himself the way an athlete should
I would gladly take 12 kids with average talent that have Jeter's work ethic over 12 kids with great talent that don't work hard. I love his quote. "It doesn't take any talent to play hard." My players are told this this at every practice. Jeter epitomizes the true competitive athlete.
I'm surprised they didn't show the clip of Joe Buck in the locker room before an All Star game, walking over to Jeter and Robinson Cano, while they were getting ready, Jeter kind of told Joe to get the heck outta here.
I had never seen this before but I remember when Buck had a show where he sat and talked to athletes from different sports. He got away with calling Jeter a bitch. Only he would have the colossal balls to do that.
Exactly….you called DJ a little bitch lol brave! Man, Derek Jeter was my childhood hero and still is. Thank you for everything you’ve done for the Yankees and the fans….#2, Derek Jeter, #2 👏 🏆
If you tried to make a movie about the man's life, the producers wouldnt buy it because its too unrealistic. The running into the stands catch against arch rival Boston, the over the shoulder catch on openning day. the homeruns: on openning day, 3000th hit, leading off the world series game, the flip, the last hits at home and at Fenway. Just truly unbelievable over the top Hollywood stuff..but it really happened to the guy..and there's way more...
Derek apparently had some influence on Volpe !! I accuse him of it takes one to know one !! I speculate he seen talent but he really seen the work ethic in Anthony !! I really hope he is more active with the Yankees !! My dude wins.
What a incredible career Jeter had ! Always a hard ticket to get When the Yankees came to town ! most of important the man he turned out to be. He did it the right way ! 👍👍👍
I started watching the yankees the year b4 jeter started i was like 8-9 i seen every big milestone from the rings to the jumping in stands the 300 game not hit the GAME and alot of the fairwell tour..i know im biased but i can not think of a better or more perfect sports career even kobe jordan or even that quaterback from new England/florida lol I dont even think children dream of careers being so good it was a crazy as a fan ncm being him...
I took my mom and kids to a game in Seattle bc they LOVED Jeter. Was very disappointing as he was rude arrogant and would not sign an autograph for a grandmother and her grand daughter😮
Seems hard to believe with the image the media portrays him as. Maybe he was having a bad day that day, But sure does not sound like he was being very professional.
What i dont understand is why you guys have so many ads? U guys have more money than the average human. Why u putting ads? Is it because you guys are greedy? Talk to me because it makes no sence.
I watched this whole interview and you never spoke about his famous flip throw to home plate I wasted my chore time and my day listening and you never brought up my favorite play I'm out
As always leave the little guys out ! How come no mention of him playing for Greensboro in the minors before moving up to the Yankees ? I traveled to Greensboro NC to watch Derek Play several times he was great. This channel usually tells everyone’s career from minors or college but not for Derek just leave out little ole Greensboro minor league who farms out players for the Yankees.
Why are you not letting us see the clips ? Makes me not wanna watch no interviews on here if you’re not going to let us see the Damn clips ! The freakin studio audience got to see them but you want Let us see them. But yet you want us to subscribe to your channel, NO THANK YOU!!!
Good interview but those weird crazy so called fun questions at the end i could do without. Thats like something you do in grammar school, it’s like a childish lame version of Michael Kay’s centerstage, at least make the questions mature, relevant, and interesting. Lol wtf. Weird him calling Jeter a little bitch, what did he take an edible before the show? Did he really say that 😳 😂 And why the hell are they cutting out the tv clips in this youtube channel? Why in gods name would you do that? Makes no sense. Can we get it together here?? Also he should stop trying to keep a strict time limit on the show, just let them talk for an hour or two. Thats how you get the good stories. Also the George bush story was cool and everything and i want to love and respect that but the fact of the matter is George bush jr. was working for enemies of this country and still is in his retirement. I wasn’t proud of him throwing that ball and its unfortunate but he’s guilty of treason, and the people puppeteering him that he works for whether bush consciously knew it or not are responsible for the twin towers being attacked whether they had a direct hand in it or whether it was from complete incompetence. They could have stopped it easily and chose not to. They use the terrorists to do their dirty work. Love Jeter though, class act, entertaining interview I’m a lifelong Yankee fan from Queens. Hope you all enjoyed my rant. 😉
People look at Jeter with rose colored glasses. Not the nicest guy and incredibly boring. Watching paint dry is more entertaining. Also, a deserving hall of famer, but overrated career
@@mikewhite4560 don't need to explain them. They are there for you to see. You can see his negative defensive war and that he is statistically the worst defensive shortstop since 1900.
Jeter was a good example of how to be a big leaguer but he was nowhere near the best player. Not even close. He’s game iq was great but that’s it. Should not not have been close to unanimous 1st ballot HOF.
@@Mauricio_Marquez I’m not saying he’s not a HOFer. I’m saying he has 3000+ hits which is hof level but many other with 3000 didn’t take 20 yrs to get. Only 260 hr, no mvp, no batting titles, only led the league in hits 1 time and runs 1 time, other than that he led the league in at bats and plate appearances (so he stayed healthy), significantly low defensive numbers. Actually advanced stats list him one of the worst defensive ss ever. He is known for “intangibles “ but even that is over blown. For instance he is known as clutch player but his career WPA was 0.02 (basically neutral) his post season WPA was only 0.07 (basically neutral) for reference David Ortiz’s (greatest post season clutch player) WPA was 3.2 in only half the at bats Jeter had in post season play. So he absolutely should not have even been close to unanimous and probably should not have been 1st ballot. But he should be in for playing so long and getting 3,000 hits. Just my opinion. I’m not a yankee fan so I don’t consider him the best thing since slice bread. I do think he was a model of class for a big leaguer. So was Dustin Pedroia though.
I wish you guys would at least show us the highlights rather than flash like you going to it and then we don't even see it and then come back in the audience is clapping 🤨
