Legendary Sports Broadcaster Joe Buck sits down for an emotional rollercoaster ride through the career of one of MLB's best players of all time, Alex Rodriguez. #JoeBuck #alexrodríguez #arod
Joe, I want to say that seeing you as an interviewer has given me respect for you. Your interview with Pete Rose was also great, keep up these great interviews!
So you do not think he was only special because of steroids. I watched him in Seattle and he seemed amazing. But I figured his entire career was only made by taking steroids. I was wondering if he could even play without them. When you have been caught 3 times cheating the game it does not make you baseball great it makes your entire career a cheat and he should be returning the money and making amends!
Being a Miamian for most of my life. I have followed Alex's baseball career. On 32nd Avenue near US 1, I pass through Alex's field. Great interview. Good job!!!
I fell in love with Miami during vacation in Feb 2022. May favorite city by far; loved everything about. Since I speak almost fluent Spanish that has something to do with it I imagine.
Alex made his amends, apologized and accepted his mistakes, even if it was not right away. In the end, he was a phenomenal athlete that made a mistake and paid accordingly. Great interview and great conversation!
@@justvibing2497 might I also ad Comiskey, which the black Sox scandal damaged baseball waaay more than Pete could ever have dreamed of. Cap Anson segregated the league, but we can’t forgive a bet. So if you want Pete out then we gotta throw out the Cobb’s, Ford’s and the rest.
Exactly If I Was Him I Would Sue The Yankees For The Marketing Bonuses That THey Didnt Give Him And They PREVENTED HIM FROM GETTING 700 HOME RUNS!!! He Would Have Easily Hit 4 More
Ya know, i always liked this guy as a player, and i’m glad he found some resolution, after much embarrassment. But even though i’ve seen him quite a bit on TV, until this interview i never realized his profound awkwardness.
I believe him. 2014 gave him humility. I think it changed him and as a father of daughters myself- I believe him when he said he never wanted to put himself in a position to have to explain himself to his daughters again. He's great as an analyst and teacher of the game now
A-Rod neglected to mention that he also received the advice to take the 200-plus game suspension from MLB from his first MLB Manager ever, the great Lou Piniella. By the way, Mr. Piniella should have gotten the ONE MORE VOTE necessary to be inducted into Cooperstown/ Baseball Hall Of Fame this Summer! Shame on Alex Rodriguez AND The Veterans Committee for Cooperstown!
At one time the Mariners had 3 of the greatest players of all time on their team, A. Rod, Griffrey Jr. and Randy Johnson. Yet none of them were still there when 2001 Mariners had one of the best seasons in baseball history. Imagine if they still had those 3 guys.
Only 2 players have over 3000hits and over 600 home runs and over 2000 RBI: Alex and Aaron. The Yanks’ last WS championship was because of Alex; he carried the team. I watched every inning. Persons who dislike Alex need a psychiatrist.
Since when is Albert Pujols (703 home runs) not part of the most home runs list in baseball. Ranks 4th all time ahead of Arod. Completely left him out. WTF!! There’s no way this interview came out two months ago.
At the time with your father in Minnesota you said you had closure with him, so that's it. No need feeling guilty about it. If he had died the next day, you would've had no regrets. You shouldn't have any regrets now. You did what you could do. Your father was probably happy in Minnesota as well. i found out with my own Dad that you can only talk so much, then you both have to move on.
Arod, I was alway a big fan of yours when you played for the yankees. I feel the yankees kinda did you wrong. I could always see the pressure that you were feeling when you were up at bat. PS, I am still a fan of yours today!
From looking at this high school video, he was a freak of an athlete. Rumor has it he gained about 30 pounds of muscle from sophomore to junior year of high school and gained enormous power to become a power hitter. In other words, he has been juicing since high school.
I gained 22 lbs from junior to senior year and picked up 4 mph on my fast ball and I was natty.. So in other words that don’t mean fuck all and I wanna see your source for this claim
@@mturley8414 So you developed into a power pitcher and got drafted by the MLB team? You must've been a former first round pick comparable to Arod. Go type Arod roiding in high school on RU-vid.
@@Joseph-lz5er No not drafted but played in college and far from a power pitcher I only threw 90mph but what the fuck does that have to do with anything???.. My point was that when your a kid your body is damn near in an anabolic state year around without steroids so gaining some weight isn’t uncommon especially those of us who are 6’2, 6’3 with good athletic genetics… You claimed he was juicing as a high schooler so show me your data and proof…
@@Joseph-lz5er One more thing I know that fake news story you talking about did you bother to do any research at all or is you tube your only source for information??.. Go read what Doug Mientkiewicz said about that bull shit who was a former high school teammate of Arod’s..
@@mturley8414 Arod juicing in high school and benching 200lbs more after one year starts at 2:14 m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R8ftrBRRNXE.html&pp=ygUWYWxleCByb2RyaWd1ZXogc3Rlcm9pZA%3D%3D
19:45 Why do they(Buck & Rodriguez) both insist on shaving a year from his age? He turned *21* (completed 21 full years) in July of 1996..I mean, it's still great but he was nearly 4 months into his 22 year on earth by the end of the 1996 season when the "MVP" voting took place.
2 min in - ad. This has got to be the most money grubbing channel in the history of youtube. There is nothing else like it. Channels with ten million views don't have this many ads.
@@belmontdwl I agree. His work ethic was something to be admired. Yes, he made many mistakes. Far from a perfect human being. But I greatly admire him for his work ethic and his commitment to being the best. He was a very rare mix of tons of god given talent, as well as one of the best work ethics professional sports has seen
I always liked watching A-rod play. For me he was must see tv. It’s interesting to me Alex Rodriguez is the only guy to get caught and produce at an all star level after words. All else washed out. Proved he didn’t need it. He was mentally inadequate and thought he needed steroids. Is there anyone else?
Listen to what he said...........he was injured and was trying to come back. I don't fault guys for taking roids to heal from injury over the course of a 162 game season. People miss the point of these guys taking roids, for most of them, it wasn't about gaining an advantage, it was about getting or staying healthy enough to play. With that being said, Sammy, Mark, especially Jose and Barry, I think more then likely it was done to gain an advantage though.
The only two years I cheated was the two years i got caught, denied, and finally admitted it when confronted. Every other year i was clean...nah, not really buying that.
just put this man in the HOF already....with Clemens and Bonds.....geez guys are we really holding generational grudges against all time talents who weren't breaking the rules? (Steroids weren't banned until 2005)
They forever destroyed the record books and basically rendered them worthless. They are out of the Hall of Fame for good reason. People didn’t think what Barry Bonds was doing was humanly possible. It wasn’t. He was cheating his ass off.
@@dbreiden83080 sorry but peds sure as shit don’t help u swing better or see better. Well over half the league was on peds through that time. Clemens bonds were elite to begin with. They should be in already. Put an asterisk under their name and let the fans decide.
I’m guessing Derek Jeter wouldn’t vote ARod in the HOF/ Like Jonny Bench wouldn’t vote Pete Rose in the HOF ; so until their fellow players are willing to put their past baseball issues behind them it can’t become a reality
I was giving a 4 instance , for both Jeter and Bench being contemporary players of ARod & Rose ; I mean who would know better than the players that were on the field with them day in & out
I didn't know Jeter was the HOF gate keeper. As great as Jeter was he was nowhere in AROD's realm and what he thinks doesn't. Let's not overrate Jeter more than he already was.
@@michaelquinn7710 I'll say the same to you butthead. What the fuck are you an expert in? Living in your mother's house while you smoke weed and play video games
@JR-jp7mi bro, that is an old and shitty comeback. lolol, he has been voted by hundreds of players and others as one of the worst interviewers, stop whileu r way behind 🤣🤣🤣
