Josh McGrath Derek Jeter is the most awesome sortstop I have ever seen play he is clutch when the yanks need him,no one is as good as Jeter. Someday I will grow up and look at him not only as a person who was good but as a hero to the yankees. Everyone is sad even the mets cause they know he's great at what he does and he will miss his team mates and the game the most. But he's is getting old and still moves like jagger but it is his time. Everyone has to live with it. I get to go to his last game but try and see if he could sign a ball cause I'm a pritty good shortstop my self. : (
im not a Yankees fan, im a red soxs fan..but i show much much respect to Jeter all the accomplishments he has gained, he is the face of the Yankees franchise. first hearing of his retirement it bummed me out I loved to watch him play, honestly i would love to see him go out in style with just one more world series under his belt.
We need more people like Jeter in baseball. There is a reason he's the captain. I've never seen him argue with an umpire. Ever. He lets his game do the talking. No matter what team you are a fan of you have to respect him. He is the face of baseball as of right now. Trout is the next player I can see being like Jeter in baseball.
Thank you Derek Jeter, for being the best Yankee and the greatest person a kid could ever have looked up to. You have inspired me more than I can express., to be the best person I can possibly be. Good luck post baseball, I'll see you in Cooperstown!
I have been a NYY fan since 1956. This guy has been one of the greatest all around ballplayers in baseball history. He might not have the best numbers in each category, but when you add it all up-- offense, defense, hustle, smarts, and clutch ability....this is the guy.
Derek was my hero since as far back as I can remember. Same ethnicity as me, wore the #2 because of him, played shortstop because of him and he's a Midwest kid like me. My first pair of cleats were Maroon (the only color we could find) Jordan Jeter's and I had the batting gloves to match, my team wore blue that year but I made it work :) He's not only changed baseball for the better but he's also gave mixed kids and all kids someone to look up to. It'll be a sad day when he retires. Thanks Jete.
Being from Boston and a Sox fan, I was grateful to see the Captain @ Fenway a few times. Great memories! A true Hall of Famer for sure! Always welcome in bean town.
This is a beautiful homage to Derek Jeter. Very nicely done. I just wish that there were some more signature plays that show what a game changing player he really was.
to me derek jeter is the most inspirational basebal player of all time and im not just saying that becuase im a yankee fan, i think he inspired people all around the world to play baseball. Great job derek :)
I'm a dodgers fan and I respect jerter and mo I think there the best thing happened to baseball I hope the dodgers see the yankees in the world series next season

Derek Jeter is popular in many ways. First off, he is one of the greatest shortstops to ever play the game. His form is amazing in the field and rarely ever commits errors. I think he is known more for his defensive plays than this offensive plays. Although, that is what I think. He has more than 3000+ hits and is among many of the elite for hits. He is a very well rounded player, and is the best SS in the game, maybe the best in history.
I actually had the privilege to met Derek at a restaurant in manhattan. I was 7 at the time and me and my dad went to up to him to say hello and ask for an autograph. We didn't have anything for him to sign or even a pen for that matter. I told him i didn't have a pen but he cares like 4 of them with him in case someone asks him for an autograph. Long story short 11 years later i still have the sock he signed for me. Thanks Derek
One of the few real heroes of our time and what really makes Jeter a hero this way is that, for him, it's just the everyday way he plays the game and lives out his life.

Derek Jeter: The cleanest Yankee great of all time. A-Roid is the next Pete Rose, Clemens was dirty from the start, Pettite was dirty at the end and then you get into Giambi, Sheffield, Cansaco, David Justice(as a Yankee, not a Brave) and more. The dirtiest team in the majors by far but Jeter is one of the cleanest players in the game.
