In this video we finally complete the fiberglass roof dome for the front of the unit after being off and under restoration in the background for almost 18 months, along with this we make a start on the second man's side of 51412, by ripping the first of many bodywork panels off, this is accompanied by the refitting of the gutter to the driver's side and in the background more windows being fitted back in after cleaning.

Your BR Blue Class 117 DMU is really getting along fabulously & I really enjoyed the Gloss being added to the Cab Front as it really helps it look shiny and almost "Brand-New" DMU - Keep it up the Excellent Work!

My son is special needs and he really likes diesel railcars like those he thinks they are highly underrated rail transportation vehicles here in North America 🇨🇦🇺🇸 and thinks Progress Rail, Siemens, or any other company that builds railroad equipment should build clones of these and the departments of transportation should restore and rebuild railroad lines that were abandoned and/or removed and run these on them and on lines that are not used anymore or at least don't get passenger service. But not just here in North America but in Britain 🇬🇧 as well. He deeply respects what you are doing and says Keep up the good work lads 👍!

Blue AWS relay panel in the cab, which means its a dual AWS/ATC relay panel for the old BR(W) ATC system....and just think i almost cardinally worked on that power car in the 1980s..... Keep up the good work lads....

She's starting to look like a DMMU again! I remember seeing a few of the 117 & 119s working the North Down Line services from Reading to Tonbridge back in the early 90s they'd all be in NSE "Toothpaste" back then but still they had an ageing beauty about them! Back then to a Southerner who was used to BR(S) Slam Door EMUs they were "Alien" but after seeing them a Couple of times on the Gospel Oak - Barking & West London Line reduced to 2 Car with no centre car I admit I enjoyed the ride very much a little lively at times but still nice by that point most of the 2 car units had their TOPS numbers in full under the cab window bar a couple I never saw L700 with it's Full TOPS all the others I had seen did

@@RailcarRestorers I never did get that the domes were fibreglass which would explain how sometimes domes would be swapped around some with Blanked off Headcode boxes some had just the roof mounted destination box I think there was a Bubble Car that had it's standard blanked off headcode box one end and the other was something more akin to a 108 or 122 I think it was in "MidLine" livery anyway I'm new to the channel! Keep up the excellent work I've been watching "L432" on Facebook for quite awhile and love it when restorers use platforms like RU-vid to show their Excellent work! The videos really do show how much pride you guys have and the Hard work you guys put in to her and when she's done guys because of all that effort and pride she will do you well!

How long before the whole set's in service?

About another 10 years for the whole 3 car set and another 6 years for a 2 car set. This will be full bodywork overhauls, full interior overhauls and a thorough mechanical exam of all 3 vehicles!
