Your video helped persuade me to buy it today. Exactly what I want - a lovely, simple, self-contained unit for practice. I've no need for one that link-up online or to apps.
My First game today with my new DGT Centaur was a Draw. DGT was up a pawn and I sacrificed my knight to get the last pawn. After this only 2 kings left. So we did what all kings do after the troops die. We had a beer and spoke about the war. Then signed the Chess treaty
I have seen this board previously, thanks to your tantalizing presentation, I'm almost tempted to grab one. I have the DGT Bluetooth which is within itself very nice too., I do like design and features of this board. The Queens Gambit thankfully has caused a resurgence in chess. Thanks!
Great down to earth review. The circles that appear dancing around the board when you first switch it on has been implemented by DGT while the Raspberry Pi Zero which operates the board boots up.
It’s a long long time since I played chess but seeing this review created a resurgence of interest in me. I think this device is absolutely brilliant but I’m not sure about the price, it’s a bit strong for me. Very, very interesting review though, thanks.
Please do not! Use your phone or computer and buy a standard chessboard it is a cheaper and MUCH better solution, because you can use different engines.
The muted colour of the board was not appealing at first, after purchasing one, it grew on me. Found it easier to concentrate on the pieces rather than a loud board. Although the reason for those muted coloured squares was to see the lights.
Thanks for the video mate. Just an FYI.. when you play Knight to c3 against the sicilian, instead of playing Knight to f3 as your next move try playing pawn to F4 then Knight to f3 after that..it's called the grand prix attack and catches a lot of sicilia players off guard. Gives a very dynamic attacking game. Anyway..thanks, looking forward to more chess videos
Excellent !....i love chess though i am pretty poor at it! Lol.....currently I have a dgt usb board that i think is fantastic...but I would like the centaur for a quick game without the need of a laptop plugged in all the time....very tempting...cheers
Dear sir, you purchased this board about a year ago. You said in this video that your rating was about 1190 at the time. Has it helped with your overall play? Is your rating higher now? Cheers, and thank you for this excellent video!
Did you add wood pieces to it. I did. It’s great. Much nicer with the wood pieces. The touch feel and the visual aesthetics. I’m loving mine. Only had it about 2 days. Great
does the board know which piece is which, as in when you set up a random position, can you just plonk a piece on a square and it would know which piece it is?
Got one of these, too. I bought a different set of pieces for it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E5pfnuhb9Ss.html. I also have a Millennium King Performance that I love, in addition to several chess computers from the 80's and 90's, such as Mephisto MMV, Novag Citrine, and an Excalibur Grandmaster.
Has anyone worked out how to Bluetooth dongle for iOS apple iPhone or iPad connect Centaur dgt to iOS apps like lichess so the game board and the app keep the same game going connected and live moves with anyone in world ?? How to make it so … possible what dongle to buy and how to set it all up to work. Anyone been successful on Centaur dgt to lichess live on iOS iPhone app and iOS iPad lichess app. ??? What steps what hardware what interface ?? What steps and method.
I wish there was a real level adjustment on this like other computer boards instead of just the friendly and tournament style plays with adaptive level.
@@HarryBunnGRVOTV meh I don’t really like playing against Stockfish. I’ll just keep using my Novag citrine with Deep Fritz plugged in. Might buy HIARCS too :3
How Hard is the Friendly Mode? im not playing Chess often But I Beat my friends most of the time in chess. Would I have a Realistic chance to Beat the Computer?
One thing I do not like about this board and pieces is that the pieces are too light and slide around the board like ice skating! That's crazy! You cannot play blitz on this surely!
I really like it, but I'm just turned off by the fact that there isn't a real life match time system, like in a normal tournament. It's so simple to implement so I don't really understand why they choose to not implement it.
