Caveats and Corrections: Walnuts have less carbs than Almonds. Brazils are lowest with 1 net carb per. Nuts are easy to overeat so you must be careful if youre trying to lose weight because they are high in calories. Turkey ham is a processed meat. Bacon is in fact less processed. Convenience isnt an excuse to use foods that dont require cooking. Less processed than either of these? A slab of Pork, accept no substitutes. Serious about controlling your diabetes? Do not eat pasta and no bread simple as that. Statchy vegetables go in the same category as ANYTHING STARCHY. Pasta IS statchy. An overwhelming want or addiction to a product does not make it good for you and I know Pasta is an addiction rather then a nutritional requirement. When youre any type of diabetic theres no room for ANY starchy vegetables.

Two main changes I made- natures own bread- 12g carb per slice vs 24+ for others. Fairlife milk - 6g carb per cup + 12g protein vs 13+ carbs for others. Helped a lot.

I’ve found that eating what I like, and figuring out The proper insulin dose and timing for it is The way to Go, atleast for me. You Can eat what You Want with diabetes, just need to learn its effect on Your bloodsugar First, and adjust Your insulin.

This. I easily achieve an HbA1c in the non-diabetic range and no spikes above 180 despite not constantly obsessing about cutting every single gram of carbs wherever possible and instead eating pretty much what I want. For me at least, this obsessive way of approaching diabetes would be really unhealthy. All it needs is knowledge and the proper strategy.

Me too! I eat a mix of good and bad but I manage to maintain good sugar levels by knowing portion size, use insulin if needed, and my day activity. I do find dieticians and diabetic nurses more often follow a protocol rather than acknowledge an individual's diabetes.

For me it is essential to adjust the basal insulin right. You shouldn't need to cover the effect of basal insulin with food, if you can fast 12 hours and stay between 4 and 6 millimoles, then the basal ratio is correct. Fast acting insulin works correctly only when basal is right and then you can make more predictable calculations.

It was interesting to see your breakfast. I am type 2 diabetic with dawn phenomenon. I tried many things to stop it without any success until I started eating only protein at breakfast. I have to have it ready to eat as soon as I get up so I cook it the day before and reheat. This morning my sugar was 9.2 and went up to 9.8 after I ate and then began to drop. Two hours later it was 6.8.

Love your channel. Thanks for the good tips, as always. I try to eat fairly low carb most of the time. I do keep regular chocolate on hand. I buy Hershey almond kisses. They are ony about 2 1/2 carbs each. Also mini reeses peanut butter cups, at about 5 carbs each . We don't need to totally deprive ourselves, just be cautious.

Good video. I'm T2, or WAS I like to claim haha. A1C in May of '21 was right at 13 and got it down to 5.2 in April of this year and off all meds. I incorporate nuts and seeds in my diet for the good fat and fiber. I do just a handful (1/4 cup) before each of my 2 meals (I never snack during my 11am to 7pm intermittent fasting eating window)...it really helps with satiety. For the nuts I do pecans and macadamia and seeds I do pumpkin. If I have a sweet tooth after dinner I IMMEDIATELY will eat 2 tbsp of NATURAL peanut or almond butter. I never wait a little bit because it's better for your pancreas to its job all at once, of course if it works. I do highly recommend looking at the ingredients in the aforementioned. These companies will mix in highly inflammatory omega 6 vegetable oils with nuts, nut butters and seeds a lot of times and most people never know it. Try getting the ones where the only ingredient is exactly what the product says it is. I actually recommend doing that with all foods. Obviously the fewer the ingredients, the better for you.

Thank you for the hints. I am in the U.S. and I do have a hard time finding bread that is diabetic friendly and tastes good the one that is diabetic friendly and the easiest to find tastes like cardboard. Instead of bread I often buy tortillas. The last tortillas I bought were 16 grams of carb each but most of the time I only ate 1/2 of one at a time.

I'm a type 2, but these snack tips are great for us too. Another suggestion is zero sugar jerky & sticks. I bought Jack Links zero sugar beef sticks for when I go on travel. It has less than 1 carb per stick. Of course there are other brands. I would also be careful of "net" vs "total" carbs. Net carbs doesn't work for everyone plus some manufacturers add in fiber to be able to claim a low net carb but the product may still spike or raise your blood glucose significantly.

I’ve been eating a U.K. brand of bread called Livlife. Around 4g carbs per slice but it’s a very tiny slice. Then I found ‘Hi-Lo’ bread at a supermarket while on holiday In Devon. Again around 4g carbs per slice but a much chunkier more satisfying slice of toast and with blackcurrant Jam (Bon maman) 2 slices with blackcurrant jam is delicious and at 15g of carbs brings me out of a low deliciously!

I love you, Tom and I am not gonna unsubscribe but do have an occasional cinnamon sugar donut on my bad girl days. Cinnamon helps with glucose control. Like when I make pancakes, Cinnamon in the batter is a must. I just wish I can find a bread similar to the one you like in NYC cause that is the one thing I really miss eating. Unbun is a low carb brand I want try but can't find the type I want. The wheat bread I eat has 9 grams a slice. 28 Blue Diamond almonds (Honey roasted is 9 grams carbs and Smokehouse 5 grams) are my favorite. Bacon wrapped asparagus; broccoli covered with melted cheddar or sauted with garlicky butter; sweet potatoes and spinach anything are my favorite veggies. I either make almond cookies (almonds, stevia, favoring and butter) or enjoy HU chocolate chip cookies. 9 cookies is about 12 carbs. Here is the crazy thing. I definitely changed the way I eat and how I eat when I was diagnosed with Type 2. Thought it was going to be hard because a lot of people told me it would be. It wasn't. Just a few tweaks here and there. I keep my carbs intake below 150. Plenty to eat if one is wise. Enough rambling now.

I dunno, man. I don't get the obsession about cutting every single gram of carbs by any means necessary. Just maintaining the proper strategy to deal with different foods does the trick for me, with no spikes above 180 and a healthy A1c, all the while eating pretty much whatever I want. It just takes so much stress out of everything (absolutely essential for me) and leaves more to be enjoyed about food in general, all the while being no less healthy for my body than the alternative.

The sensor is the puck that attaches to your skin, it's the thing that measures. The reader is a separate device and is not necessary to purchase as you can pair the sensor with most smartphones to do the same thing. I'd recommend watching some of the videos on this channel to get a better idea of the start up process with the Libre though, before purchasing.

I don't think they sell that brand of bread here in the USA, it would be nice to have access to this as I love bread but have learned to eat a "keto" bread by Orowheat. It's not perfect but I don't feel overly guilty when I include a slice or two with a meal. They have bread, flat bread, hamburger and hotdog buns. BUT that bread you mentioned in the beginning of the vid looks quite yummy. The other issue I have with shopping for healthier choices are prices. My god, they will sell you a cheap hamburger at a fast food eatery for next to nothing but you want healthier choices and it's often times outrageous and overpriced. It's no wonder that many of us diabetics just throw in the towel and eat not so good choices.

You clarify that you are _not_ a nutritionist or dietitian yet you proclaim your approach as *the* correct one. Every nurse or dietician I’ve worked with has advocated working treat foods into my diet to avoid failure over time. Stating that we can never include a donut in a healthy diabetes diet is silly. I’ve been type 1 for over 50 years and moderation has been key to maintaining an hA1c in the low-6s. I appreciate your education about net carbs vs total carbs in nutrition labels, but stating that a food will _always_ have the same effect on every diabetic is just wrong.

Or how it is write.. If we talk about get fatty, ok.. Can be, but this low carb contents, idk, i don't see this like do or die.. Cheese if fatty too for example.. Spikey spikey spikey. Why not do a content tick box for how to treat yourself with …. … a doughnut 🍩? Eg. Practice makes perfect. Early bolus at the right time/right amount … practice right! So you actually can “treat 🤗” yourself when you want. It will ruin your diabetes numbers game if you are lucky enough to be on a CGM and mean you’ll feel awful if you don’t get it right!! I think once in while it’s ok to treat. The more you do it the more you realise the condition is not suitable for such unhealthy consumption. As you have demonstrated, living with diabetes FORCES a healthy diet so it’s not such a bad thing… oh ok I’m being far too positive 🙄 DOUGHNUTS TREATY SPIKEY ONLY RECOMMENDED ONCE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING 😵‍💫 Maybe, I’m wrong as the longer you go without sugary treats you begin to not miss them and treat them as Bad Food which is right for those with diabetes. I’ve found that sugar is very addictive so try and stay off snacks but but but you know when its time to actually live outside the diabetes box 📦…. You know what the consequences are… you know the hypo risk… etc etc etc Treats.

sorry, but that whole dounut shaming is just bullshit. It depends on your body, current situation, management, etc. weather you are able to enjeoy high carb, high glycemic index foods. I am able to even eat 100-150g of gummy bears withuot it bringing me over 180 for more then 10-20mins if I preboulus properly (50-100g can even work without preboulusing) and I'm not to stessed and exercise that week. Low carb may make diabetes management easier, but it is not a must. My daily carbs are ~400g/day but can sometimes (with exercise that day) peak at ~500-600g/day while keeping my time in range at 90-95%. (again, bodies are different, I am also very sensitive to Insulin when I exercise properly, so that might be part of it)

Didn’t mean to make you upset my friend. There was definitely a bit of exaggeration there to make it entertaining:) of course. I respect your decision. Wishing you all the best as well! Stay safe!

I was in a bit of a foul mood this morning and probably should have held back from commenting and unsubbing. Your content has been informative as I begin my own type 1 education, and you did, in wanting pasta, remind me that whole wheat pasta is lower on the glycemic index. I’m going to stick around and try to be more pleasant in the future. Sorry for the negativity.
